Please do not vandalize remove jokes on my user page. If you wish to talk about something please do so civilly on my talk page. Thanks. TheRingess03:21, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about not getting back to you sooner. I should apologize for reverting the content the way I did, I didn't realize that you were midway through your rewrite. Anyhow it looks a lot better. I use UltraFractal also. As a matter of fact, I wrote "BringItIn" a small tool for importing images into UF.
BTW, I see that you are very interested in Peru. I went to Peru first in 2001 and visited Machu Picchu. Went again in 2003 to Q'eros and 2004 to Huancacalle and Puncuyoc (met my fiance in Lima in 2004). I've gone back 3 - 4 times since then getting to spend some time in Chiclayo and Mancora. My website has some of my photos My website.
This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to TheRingess' page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please stop vandalizing others user pages. Diez223:54, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Sorry for taking so long to reply. I got a bit busy in life. By the way, I hope you know that if you adopt me, you'll have to teach me everything you know. --Itachi Uchiha1321:14, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. I'm still just doing stuff here and there. Not really sure I want to stick with this, but we'll see. I'll ask for help if I need it. Thanks! Aufheben14:14, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the welcome
Thanks for the welcome and offer, but i've already been "adopted". I wouldn't mind help on wikimarkups and perhaps a link to a rundown on code if you got time.
Hey Walter. As to your question do Descendall, what he told me before he left was that Wikipedia had become a waste of time for him, and he felt it was time to move on. It's a pity, as our articles on Peru, and everything else he did, were vastly improved by his attention. But I respect that he has other things to do, so c’est la vie.--Cúchullaint/c08:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had to remove it from the Peru main page article because it contained info relevant to the United States (internal links to Colonial America, the American Revolutionary War, etc...). These problems will have to be fixed before that template can be on the article. Thank you.--Jersey Devil08:16, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
West Wikipedia
Hey, I really like your West Wikipedia idea! Even though I was born in East Wikipedia, I now am an official West Wikipedian citizen. Maybe you can make administrative division-type things (states, provinces—whatever you wanna call it). I dunno, just an idea. Regards, •The RSJ•Talk | Sign Here00:51, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Orphaned fair use image (Image:EarMaster logo hi.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:EarMaster logo hi.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hi Walt, thanks for the welcome
Thanks for the kind response. I'd like to contribute to mostly perhaps social commentaries and average users experiences / knowledge about LED lights. (Stuff like really smart home lighting, fun and therapy lights that are hopefully interesting to most of us who read wikis. Here is my Wikihow page http://www.wikihow.com/User:Otti-N and my site blog on LED lights http://www.fun-led-light.com/led-light-blog.html that always have my updated "brain" on those subjects. So thanks again for making me feel welcome and also for the pointers especially. (Even if it was automatied and you are on Holiday irihgt now. Forgive me for saying so but I found it rather difficult (ergo my revert) to view your addition of that picture as sincere (particularly with the language you used in describing the individual as a "bum"). Was I mistaken in my impression of that? (→Netscott)05:18, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Adoption Categories
Hello, Walter! I noticed that you've been using {{User:Walter Humala/welcome noobie}} to welcome new users. This is perfectly fine, except for the fact that it contains {{User:Walter Humala/Emperor Userboxes/Template:Adopting}}, which in turn contains "[[Category:Wikipedians seeking to adopt in Adopt-a-user|{{BASEPAGENAME}}]]". Thus, new users like Party Walrus appear to be seeking to adopt a new user, even though they did not express this desire, may be too new to adopt a user through the program, or may have in fact made no edits at all as in Party Walrus' case. If you could amend some part of this process so that welcoming users no longer makes them appear involved in WP:ADOPT (as this involvement should be initiated on their part), I would greatly appreciate it. However, I am by no means saying not to offer adoption; this is not an issue at all. Thanks for your help with this, Dar-Ape16:48, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You really should clean up your page. I'm not trying to be an asshole about it, but it looks like a mess. Sure it may be your "unique" way of "expressing yourself", but it looks terrible to the rest of us. Please consider it. Eyeball kid23:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Canvassing
Your contributions history shows that you have been aggressively cross-posting in order to influence Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Walter Humala. Although the Arbitration Committee has ruled that "[t]he occasional light use of cross-posting to talk pages is part of Wikipedia's common practice"1, such cross-posting should adhere to specific guidelines found in Wikipedia:Spam. In the past, aggressively worded cross-posting has contributed towards an Arbitration Committee ruling of disruptive behavior that resulted in blocking2. It is best not to game the system, and instead respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building, by ceasing to further crosspost, and instead allowing the process to reflect the opinions of editors that were already actively involved in the matter at hand. Thank you. Metros23205:45, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All right man, I will stop. But let me tell you my reason for canvassing.
Talk pages were I "canvassed" were from people with the same issue than me, they have too many subpages, by helping me, they would also save themselves from MFd's. Thanks Metro223(I couldn't read your policy message 'cuz I was too busy canvassing). -- Walter HumalaGodsave him!(wanna Talk?)06:09, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Because you chose to revert all the removals of your canvassing, I have blocked you for 6 hours. When your block expires, please do not continue canvassing. Thanks, Metros23214:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Template calls in signatures
Hi, Mr. Humala. I realize you're already getting a lot of attention you may not like, but it's brought another issue to my attention. You use a template for your signature. If you read WP:SIG#Transclusion of templates, you'll see that this has been prohibited. I will freely admit that I had experience with this, and I agree with the reasoning (at the time I used a sig template, transclusion was merely "frowned upon"). Please substitute your template if you feel the need to use one, or just paste the wikicode you have into the signature box on your preferences page. Thanks! — Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 06:36, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've noticed you've made a number of edits to people's talk pages where you've over-written previous content. Please don't do this. Thanks, --Dweller14:13, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).
your reason here:*I'm too dizzy. While reverting accidental edits by me on talkpages some users removed also my comments, I just tried to re-add those (I accidentaly removed signposts on some pages were I canvassed at first **On the other hand I previously gave reasons to canvass, talk pages were i did were from users with the same issue than me on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Walter Humala, so they could help themselves by helping me. ***What's the deal with blockin me, Metro didn't like my prior edits so he gets a lil excuse to block me, I think so...--Walter Humala - King one! 14:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Decline reason:
06:02, 20 February 2007 You were warned not to canvas, you then did it many time more, unblock declined, this is a valid block. It is only six hours, I suggest you avoid violation of WP:CANVAS in the future. -- HighInBC(Need help? Ask me)14:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
"While reverting accidental edits by me...some users removed also my comments". Uhh...no, I removed YOUR comments. I wasn't trying to remove something else and mistakenly took your comments with it. My aim was to remove your canvassing. Metros23214:37, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't talking bout you, but Newyorkbrad and Dwelle's edits
Don't you get it?. the reason for canvassing. Please
And you still can because: A. it's only 6 hours of a block and B. you can translate it on a word processor and copy and paste it to Wikipedia when you get unblocked. Metros23214:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! I'll give you a hand. I really don't see the point of deleting all that stuff, anyway (I also don't see the point of somewone taking of the info you put on my talk page, so I put it back) Qmwnebrvtcyxuz14:51, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I went to the page and gave you a hand. I did something for you, now please do something for me. They are trying not to accept my Username. Please give my a hand at WP:RFC/N. Please. No matter what they say, my name is not random letters. Qmwnebrvtcyxuz15:41, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, Mr. Humala, you're approaching the line. Please, no personal attacks. You have been blocked for a reason, and if you just accept the block and do not try to avoid it, you will be unblocked in 24 hours. Why all this raging argument? About comments on my DELETION entry:Whats all that deal with canvassed users?, being canvassed doesn't make one powerful on wikipedia, do YOU guys want to null their comments just cause they were canvassed maybe?, you fear I CAN WIN this miscellany thanks them?
Come on, theyre just editors trying to help some guy in trouble.

My Talk Page
I was looking at my Talkpage history when I saw that you reverted an odd person's additions to it. I just thought I'd say thanks since, after all, it's just a user page, and most vandal fighters don't do much in the way of userpage reversion, AFAIK. About the MfD
I just wanted you to know that I oppose the proposed deletion of your user subpages (at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Walter Humala). The user who nominated them was, IMHO, being ridiculous and pedantic; you're clearly a good contributor and I see no reason for other users to interfere with your userspace. I have included a reprimand to the nominator with my Keep vote, which has been seconded by two other users. I will support you all the way on this, as I'm appalled at the way some other editors have treated you. Walton monarchist8919:53, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies
Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of [unassessed articles] tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod23:21, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:SIG, please do not use templates or other transcluded pages as your signature. Instead, you can customize your siggy in the 'preferences' menu. Thanks. >Radiant<09:51, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the rule for fair use is either 10% of the work or 30 seconds, whichever is shorter. It may still be possible for the performance itself to be GFDL while the work is copyrighted, but in any case the recording must follow Fair Use rules, and may not be a Featured Sound. "Featured" stamp
I admire your creativity, but would you consider removing Image:Uncyclopedia Featured.png from your header? I find the green stamp rather annoying, and it interferes with the MediaWiki tabs. I also thought it said "Retired"; I wouldn't have figured out that it says "Featured" unless I had figured out how to click on the image and read it on its description page (it's difficult to read). Thanks for considering! — Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 06:51, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I come on the unpleasant chore of asking you to remove the adopter template from your userpage. Previously I had had doubts about your appropriateness to be an adopter, but this has been confirmed after reviewing your block log, and your attempts to circumvent a block by use of Anon only accounts. Maybe after a few more months editing and more experience with working with others you will be ready to be an adopter. Cheers Lethaniol12:54, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And along that same vein, can you please stop referring to yourself as emperor, especially in your welcome template? This can get really confusing for people new to Wikipedia. Metros23213:22, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Calling yourself Emperor makes you unique. Just like I call myself The Real People's Champion. Something about it has a certain flair that I like. It's like Hulkamania. It is a feeling that makes everyone want to rally around it. Big Boss 003:36, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your imperial highness, my contribution to your page was because of the bullying you seem to have recently received from other (especially elevated) users, and because I think your page theme shows good humor, as well as imperial qualities. Currently my New World Organization Wolfpack branch is without a leader. I was wondering if you are interested. I do have some reservations before I decide to give you such a commanding position:
1). You must promise never to vandalize wikipedia.
2). All motives concerning our group shall be discussed with all available New World Organization members. I will be around so I will be there.
I reverted your edit on Peruvian national election, 2006 because you put the first round results at the top of the page which I think gives an inaccurate representation of the elections (kind of implying that the first round results were the one that decided the who was the President). I was thinking that maybe if we wanted a leading image for that page we could do what was done in the Chilean presidential election, 2005–2006 article and create an image made up of images of the leading candidates but my image making skills are subpar.--Jersey Devil01:49, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I mean if you want the results at the top that is fine but they should be the second round results not the first round.--Jersey Devil02:11, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You use an animation in your signmature, which is very irritating. The eye is automatically drawn to anything that moves, which makes a lot of sense in the environment humans (or any other animal for that matter) evolved in. Advertisers have figured this out and use a lot of animation because it is impossible for people to ignore that. So when I'm reading any of your posts (or any other post near it) I can't concentrate on the text because my eye is constantly drawn to your signature. You use a lot of cool features on your user page, which I plan to look into, but this one is not quite that cool. Also, it's something that is not restricted to your user page, which makes quite a difference. So could you change it? DirkvdM13:12, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Metros232 has put the catagory that that you created for the Big Boss Award up for deletion. If you want to save it vote against the deletion. How to get to it is to click on the blue recipient tag on the award. It will take you to the page and then you can find where it is posted. Big Boss 002:50, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please try combine your edits into one, rather than flooding the page history with unnecessary edits. This is especially important for templates, where every edit causes a significant load on the servers as each change is propagated to every page on which the template is used, which also delays changes that people are making to other templates from appearing. —Centrx→talk • 03:03, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That makes the point I was trying to in the email better than the email itself. Also, BB0 is fairly screwed up, as the paragraph below shows. Protection? Uniting Wikipedia against vandals? I thought that Wikipedia was already united, and that anyone that would cause anyone else to need protection would be blocked without hesitation. He has ulterior motives for creating this group, and I don't want you to get hurt by what he is doing. He is a manipulator. He doesn't care about you or anyone else. I mentored him for months, and he stabbed me in the back after getting what he wanted from me. He'll do the same to you, and I bet that he has already made the plans for when he does. Don't let him use you like he did me. -- TheHybrid03:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wolfpack
I have seen your earlier conversations about me and I am okay with it. Technically I failed in trying to bring my NWO(black and white logo) members to wikipedia. I doubt we will ever see them again. So recently I decided than I need reinforcements to protect me. In return I would agree to protect them to the best of my abilities. The Wolfpack branch which you are currently a part of will hopefully be one of the most successful wikipedia anti vandal guards! My other two members have dropped so you are all I got left. And Huntermay not be as useful as I hoped either. I need someone like you around to help me in my goal of uniting wikipedia users against vandals. The past is currently behind me. I need your help. Big Boss 021:04, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As far as being united this is a load of bull. There is no real union between users. What I am trying to do is create a small group which shares information gathered from vandal attacks and see if any of them are the same person through this information gathering. The New World Organization will be the elite vandal fighting group on wikipedia. Big Boss 000:44, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is impossible. The only true way of determining whether or not vandals are one in the same is through checkuser. We can compare articles vandalized and usernames, but if they use random usernames, and vandalize random articles, then they won't be recognized as the same person no matter how many people examine the information. If they are vandalizing the same articles than the same user will figure it out on their own. The nWo seems like a good idea on the surface, but when you begin to examine the details it would be a pointless group. Besides, with how you have tormented poor Metros no one will want to unite underneath your banner. You shot yourself in the face before you ever got started. -- TheHybrid03:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be like a broken needle. You are missing the point. Our group is for those who have lost trust in admins. That is our purpose. There are plenty of people who hate their abuse of power and we can stop it. Big Boss 015:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Now you've completely thrown apart the idea of the group you originally had. You said the group was to fight vandals. Now it's to fight admins it appears. Metros23217:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unlike Metros's idea we both have lost trust in him. We will not fight but will do things our own way. At the same time sticking to wikipedia rules. Our NWO has no desire to fight anyone but vandals. That is that. Big Boss 002:57, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Those who have lost trust in admins are those who don't seem to get the point that admins are just regular users with a few more buttons. Also, an anti-vandal organization cannot exist without admins. How do you plan to block them? Admins are janitors, and vandals are the dirt that they mop up. That is how it works. -- TheHybrid03:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let me define how the system works. The NWO (black and white) is for PDL members only. The Wolfpack (red and black) logo is for non PDL members like yourself. As far as recruiting new members they must agree to the terms that you agreed to. I have a lot of trust in you. Big Boss 002:59, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for notifying me about this MfD. To be honest, it's the most insane nomination for deletion I've seen yet. Sadly, the recent spate of pointless MfDs shows no signs of slacking. The AMA, which is a useful organisation and helps people (and I should know, having been a member since last year), is far more beneficial to the encyclopedia than pages like Wikipedia:Whacking with a Wet Trout, to take an example at random. I strongly recommend withdrawing the MFD of MFD. Your nom statement reads like it's an exercise in disruption to make a point. Not funny. April Fools' Day is over. – Chacor05:03, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Weird Al" Yankovic
Do you have a source stating that "Weird Al" Yankovic is a Slovenian-American or has Slovenian origins (as per the Slovenian Americans artcle)? I'm not saying that you're definitely wrong, but because his Wikipedia article specifically mentions that he is of Serbian descent, I had to remove his name for the time being. Are you perhaps confusing him with Frankie Yankovic, who was a Slovenian-American? BTW, the name Jankovic/Yankovic is far more common in Serbia than it is in Slovenia. Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Myths_and_Legends_TCG-Mama_Occla.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan0012:24, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Myths and Legends TCG-Mama Occla.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Myths and Legends TCG-Mama Occla.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot06:33, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opentext Journal of Peruvian Studies
To Walter and Father.
Would appreciate your thoughts on the new Opentext Journal of Peruvian Studies in the academia part of the wikia world. Would you like to contribute some material? Or start a commentary.
Two pages active currently [1] and [2]. Congratulations on your pages. Best regards, Paul Goulder (one of the three "mentors" editing OJPS).
The three-month long Summer Assessment Drive, organized by Psychless, was a huge success! It ran from June 1 – September 1, and reduced the backlog of unassessed articles from 113,385 to 56,237. In all, over 100,000 articles were assessed. Over 60 people contributed in some way.
A barnstar has been created for exceptional work on Wikipedia biographies and for assisting the project. The Biography Barnstar is listed with the other WikiProject awards and can be awarded easily with a template. See the template page for more details.
The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below)
We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future.
This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page

Thanks for uploading Image:Hegemony or survival.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Invitation
Introducing WikiProject United States Government...
Well, wait no longer, because we have a project for you! WikiProject United States Government is where all the cool Wikipedians who watch C-SPAN hang out! Join the project today and help us get it off the ground and flying.
First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject, or I happen to know personally).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
The Sociology WikiProject is conducting a roll call (or min-census, if you prefer). More then five years down the road, we have over 50 members, but we don't know how many of them are still active in the sociology area. If you are or want to become once again an active contributor to the sociology content on Wikipedia, please move your name from the inactive to the active list on our roll call.
According to our April mini-census, we have 15 active members, 6 semi-active ones and 45 inactive. Out of those, 4 active, 3 semi-active and 1 inactive members have added themselves to corresponding categories since the mini-census. The next one is planned, roughly, for sometime next year. The membership list has been kept since 2004.
On that note, nobody has ever studied WikiProjects from the sociological perspective... if you are interesting in researching Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Research and wiki-research-l listerv.
Moving from research to teaching, did you know that many teachers and instructors are teaching classes with Wikipedia? This idea is getting support from the Wikimedia Foundation, and some really useful tools have been created recently. I have experience with that, having taught several undergad classes, so feel free to ask me questions on that!
And as long as I am talking about professional issues, if any of you is going to any sociological conferences, do post that to our project - perhaps other members are going there too?
In other news: the a automated to do listing reported in the April issue went down shortly afterwards, but seems to be on the path to reactivation. We still have an active tag and assess project, and comparing the numbers to the April report, we have identified about 350 more sociology-related articles (from 1,800 to 2,150) and assessed about 100 (from 1,300 to 1,400).
We now have a listing of most popular sociology-related pages. It is updated on the 1st of every month, starting with August, and reports which of our sociology-tagged articles are most frequently read. Of course, GIGO holds true, so after looking at it right now and trying to determine what is our most popular article, my first action was to shake my head and remove Criminal Minds (which, perhaps not too surprisingly, outranks all sociology articles in period tested). Second item I noticed it this month's Industrial Revolution, beating Criminal Minds, that moved from close to 30th position in August/September, to 9th in October and 2nd in November. If you'd like to discuss this or any other trends, please visit WT:SOCIOLOGY!
Finally, with the reactivation of Article Alerts, we are getting our own here. Bookmark that page so you can keep track of sociology related deletion debates, move debates, good and feature article discussions, and more.
Hello, Walter Humala! WikiProject United States, an outreach effort supporting development of United States related articles in Wikipedia, has recently been restarted after a long period of inactivity. As a user who has shown an interest in United States related topics we wanted to invite you to join us in developing content relating to the United States. If you are interested please add your Username and area of interest to the members page here. Thank you!!!
New Orleans MediaWiki developers' meetup in October
New Orleans Wikimedia Hackathon
MediaWiki and Wikimedia developers' meetup Hi, Walter Humala. I'd like to invite you to come to the New Orleans Hackathon 2011. It's an opportunity for MediaWiki developers and Wikimedia operations engineers to come together to work on advancing Wikimedia's tools and infrastructure, focusing on Wikimedia Labs (starting with the dev-ops virtualization cluster), and to train and to squash bugs.
The theme of this event: "the infrastructure of innovation". We're going to improve and discuss the Wikimedia Labs projects infrastructure and other stuff that makes it easier for anyone to supercharge Wikimedia with awesomeness. We're going to work on our gadgets/extensions/tools support, authorization/authentication strategy, dev-ops virtualization, and general training and hacking.
It's mostly going to be dev sprints and bugsmashing, with some discussion and workshops. The event is open to anyone who wants to come and contribute, and is an opportunity to spend time with senior MediaWiki developers & ops engineers, write beautiful code, and learn about the latest developments.
Hi. I was wondering if you would be interested in contributing articles to Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic)? It needs contributors to increase diversity of content from different countries and bring about large scale improvements. The idea at some point will be to host a National Contest related to your country of interest. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:15, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:10, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!
Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It started today on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. I'm hoping to see some of our older stale US articles improved! Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! ♦ Dr. Blofeld20:13, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
