Many thanks for the award, and for your kind words. Didn't think people even bother to browse thru those lists. I enjoy doing this, reading + watching SF is 1 of my hobbies. ;-) MDGx☹☺06:36, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I came across them when doing some assessments (long overdue now) for the science fiction project where you'd put in a request months ago. I work on lists myself so I know how much work it is and how it's pretty much invisible as lists are slowly reworked, weeded-out and expanded again. The list represents an area which will be of much interest to many visitors, so it only seemed right to show some appreciation. Someoneanother17:53, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
DYK for Soft & Cuddly
On 5 April 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Soft & Cuddly, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that carrying the body parts of your dismembered mother to a refrigerator is hardly Soft & Cuddly? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Soft & Cuddly. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Because you've reviewed Soft & Cuddly, which is appreciated, it has introduced a conflict of interest. If I were to review any of your nominations during the Wikicup the review itself would be called into question, our integrity would be questioned and you would stand to get into hot water with the Wikicup organizers. Sorry, but I can't help. Someoneanother13:47, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try to have a look at the articles and give them a proof-read, when I get some time, the work you're putting in is much appreciated. Someoneanother14:47, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'm currently pretty much finshed with my plan for Broken Sword to be a GA Topic, but the problem is that it seems that NO-one is reviewing VG articles no more, which results in nobody reviewing Broken Sword and Broken Sword: The Angel of Death. The only thing I could really add to the Angel of Death article is a bit more reception. Oh, and I'd like to know what's your opinion on the "Reception and legacy" section in the main Broken Sword series article? Best, --Khanassassin☪15:02, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Stubhunt
Hi,
I know I am a very recent joiner of Wikipedia and I want do do as much as I can to help out. However, I have been getting a negativevibe from other Project members about my assessments in the 2012 Stubhunt. From my understanding, it is due to a formal lack of understanding in article rating criteria. I just wanted to leave this message here to let you know that I will remove my other volunteerings from the list until such a time when I feel I know enough about the standards of article assessment that I can actually contribute in a constructive way.
P.S. If you know of any other way I could help out that would be less intrusive, please let me know.
This is truly sad news, as I personally have nothing but praise for your work. You've done an impressive amount of work in a short time, and while a few assessments may have been less clear-cut cases, I would be ready to bet that any experienced editor would've had a similar amount of judgement calls. :) Salvidrim!19:54, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your work's been very constructive Makhram, please don't be disheartened. You are picking things up very quickly and have a good attitude; we could do with more editors like you. Wikipedia editing is a complicated balance and there is always the possibility that someone else would approach the same task differently, interpret something in a different way etc., so don't let differences of opinion or the fact that WP takes some getting used to deter you. I would recommend keeping an eye on the video game project's talk page, having a look at the different processes to see what goes on (which may lead to you seeing something you'd like to edit) and above all focusing on editing articles which interest you. If you ever need to discuss something then there's the project, you are always welcome to drop by my talk page and I'm sure the same goes for Salvidrim. Someoneanother20:33, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for both of you being so supportive. I was only thinking along the lines of, Since I am new, maybe this project is something to look forward to doing once I've gotten the hang of things instead of a starting project. I think for now, I will focus on task related to the Bethesda task force. "Makhram the Maniac"talk23:15, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is no expectation on you or anyone else to do anything, it will be done in the fullness of time one way or the other. No one should feel compelled to undertake work they either don't have time for or sufficient interest in - it's a great way of burning people out or boring them rigid. Your help and everyone else's in setting the thing up and doing some checking is much appreciated, but just stick to what interests you, the pay here sucks. Someoneanother19:10, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well I used to do some DabSolving in my off time, it's just that editing from work is nearly as comfortable as from home and I now work fulltime. :) Salvidrim!19:26, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Question about "popular review sites".
Hello, I'm from Chinese Wikipedia, and I have a question about "popular review sites". You are activity in video games' editing, so I hope you give me a help. :)
I'm writing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn in zhwp now, and I want to expand enwp by the way. Though my English is poor, I still think a try is better than do nothing.
My edit was deleted by an IP user, because "absolutely horrible grammar and spelling in the piece of text in question and lack of mentioning any major or popular review sites". I think terrible grammar can be fixed by native, and I also love to fixing grammar faults in zhwp. So I want to know "major or popular review sites" means what? It's a great help for me, thank you!
For example, about "battle is easy", 1up said "The game rarely approaches anything like a real challenge outside of boss battles".a but I think review of GameCritics is more vivid: "fight is simply a matter of dialing up the magic attacks and waiting for the experience points to roll in".bAnd I think 1up and GameCritics are both IRS, but I'm not sure GameCritics' viewpoint will regard as a extreme view in Wikipedia.
So I want to know how to express this viewpoint? Like:
Some publications find game's battle is easy, 1up said "...".[a] (GameCritics' view can't use in article.)
Some publications find game's battle is easy[a], GameCritics said "...".[b] (GameCritics can be used, but need to be support by 1up)
Some publications find game's battle is easy[a,b], 1up said "...".[a] (GameCritics can be used, but 1up is main opinion.)
Some publications find game's battle is easy[a,b,c], GameCritics said "...".[b] (If I can find another website (including "not major review site") also think battle is easy, GameCritics' can be used)
Other pointview also have this question, so can you tell me what website is "major or popular review sites"?
Hi Wangxuan, I'd be very happy to look at this with you, I'll take a look at some point this weekend - I'm up to my eyes in work at the minute. Someoneanother16:33, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Right Wangxuan, sorry to keep you waiting. The grammar is something that can be corrected and if it were me I'd have done so rather than revert it. Regarding the sources, I think rather than popular a better term would be mainstream. Websites like GameSpot, IGN, Eurogamer ([1]), GamesRadar and magazines like Edge, GamesMaster, Nintendo Gamer and GamesTM are more mainstream sources than the likes of Gamecritics and Thunderbolt. Even 1up is a gaming blog so is not as strong a source as the likes of IGN and GameSpot. When dealing with a major game release it should be possible to stick to the likes of IGN without having to use less mainstream sites. It stops questions being asked at places like Good Article nominations. If you're interested in writing about the battle mechanics then there should be plenty of material in sites like those. For instance the GamesRadar reviewer says: "All the pieces of the battle gameplay are spot on – the interaction between djinni and psynergy, the summons, the weapons and so forth – but the overall lack of difficulty means that all that opportunity and options for strategizing mostly go to waste." The Eurogamer reviewer says: "The brilliance of the battle system is worth reiterating. It's entirely turn-based, but random encounters are bracingly brisk and thankfully not too frequent, while boss fights are tense and tough without ever becoming attritional. Explore each area thoroughly and you shouldn't ever need to grind."
You should be able to write plenty about how reviewers found the battle system with the sources already in the article and perhaps a few more mainstream sites. Provided all the major agreements or disgareements between sources are noted (WP:DUE) it should be fine. The video game project keeps a list of sources at WP:VG/RS which may be of use to you. I'll keep an eye on the article and try to tweak any grammar which needs it (when I have the time). I hope that's of some help, please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss anything, or the project on its talk page. Thanks for your contributions. Orphaned non-free media (File:Soft & Cuddly screenshot.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Soft & Cuddly screenshot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:17, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Disambiguation link notification for August 30
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of dragon video games, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Action adventure (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).
So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.
A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

WikiProject Horror Collaboration
Hello SA, just want to let you know that I have finished my expansion on the article for the horror film I Drink Your Blood and I have already incorporated what I have done so far on the draft page into the actual article itself. However its still needs a little more work done to it though, namely giving proper citations to unsourced material, updating citations, and expanding the section on the film's controversy. At the moment I am finished with the article, and I am leaving it up to others to further modify and expand it.
I am also working on a new article to collaborate on for WikiProject Horror. It is the article on the infamous horror character Leatherface which is pretty significant but, unfortunately, it is in a state of severe underdevelopment and suffering from poor writing and few sources. My plan is to expand it significantly so that it reaches its full potential, and quite possibly become a featured article like the one on Jason Voorhees. However, for this particular project I will need the help of as many editors as possible since the level of expansion needed would be too daunting for any one or even three editors. Similar to the other collaboration that I have done with I Drink Your Blood, I have already created a draft for the use of expanding the article which I will include the link here. Let me know whether or not you would be able to help expand the article on my talk page and see if you can get other people on this.--Paleface Jack (talk) 23:28, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
