Hey there! I saw you editing the List of Georgia hurricanes. Those lists of storms by state are a favorite of mine, as they help show an area's history related to a particular natural disaster. I also know how overwhelming it can feel trying to do it all. So if you're considering working on the list, just know that improving the most important storms are a great start, such as the storms to actually produce hurricane-force winds in the state. Of course, if your edit adding Michael was just a one-off, no worries, that's useful too! Cheers ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:08, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I probably won't be adding more summaries to the page, although I do want to edit the section on Michael a little bit. I'm fairly certain that the damage toll makes it the costliest hurricane on record in Georgia but I'm still looking for a proper source on it. MCRPY22 (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like Tropical Storm Alberto (1994) was the previous costliest TC. That article has this nugget -

With $750 million in damage, Alberto was considered the costliest tropical cyclone in Georgia, until Hurricane Michael in 2018.

And it has sources too. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:50, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there MCRPY22! I saw you were working on the List of Mississippi hurricanes, and I'm pretty impressed how much you got done. Do you think it's in good enough shape (even if it's incomplete) to publish it? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:38, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is, there are definitely things that still need to be added and improved (there's no images right now, for instance), but I think it at least meets the minimum standards for a page of that sort. MCRPY22 (talk) 23:04, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mexico templates on your user page

Hey there MCRPY22 - I saw some of the templates on your page that I think would go great in List of Mexico hurricanes. I spent a lot of time back in November building up the bones of the article, but I never got around to adding the templates! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 05:58, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I can do it but there's an issue with it in that Anita and Carmen haven't undergone reanalysis and don't have special landfall points in HURDAT. Carmen is probably fine since there's several sources that can back up it making landfall with about the same strength as the 06z intensity (though the HURDAT 12z intensity may be erroneous), but sources differ on Anita by quite a bit, anywhere from 130 kts to 150 kts, and the same with pressure. MCRPY22 (talk) 20:06, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The MWR seems to confirm the 926 mbar landfall pressure and the cat 4 intensity, so I would err on the side of caution with Anita's lower intensity. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:13, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Do you want me to make them into separate template pages or just add them into the page as tables? I'm still new to this. MCRPY22 (talk) 21:39, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good question. For now you could just move them to the page, and then if there's a need to replicate that table in the future, it can later on be replaced by a template. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:31, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe an area of interest?

Hey MCRPY22! I notice you edit a lot in the topic of severe weather. I'm currently working on a new article topic that you might be interested in: Draft:Influence of severe weather on American politics. The article focuses a lot on how politics get affected or influenced by severe weather. For example, how Hurricane Helene last year influenced the outcome of the 2024 United States presidential election, as well as how the U.S. Congress investigated (twice actually) FEMA's response to the effects of Hurricane Helene.

I do not know if this topic is of any interest to you, but since you edit regarding severe weather, I wanted to let you know about it. If you are interested, feel free to edit and add stuff to the draft article, and if you have any questions, you are always welcome to message me! If you are not interested, just ignore this message. Have a wonderful day! The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 19:14, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, I saw you made some recent edits to Hurricane Camille. Good work so far, but I have a feeling this might a big topic! I started a discussion on the talk page for how to improve the article, section by section, since Camille's article should be a lot better than it is. No pressure though doing any further work :P Just wanted to reach out about the article. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:33, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know that I'm focusing on the Virginia section, which is a major part of the storm that has barely any coverage on Wikipedia. I also noticed there were too many images in the article, so I removed a few. Whatcha think so far? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:51, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I see that, it's already quite an improvement. A lot of those images were recently added, I think by the same user. One thing I'd like to do is break down impacts in Mississippi by county, at least in terms of numbers, but the current sources tend to mainly refer to the state as a whole. On the topic of Virginia, the aftermath section seems to be entirely focused on the gulf coast, so looking ahead I think that's another gap that could be filled. I know you mentioned it, but I haven't really touched the meteorology section besides merging the records section into it. MCRPY22 (talk) 22:22, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's good to know there are a lot of images, we could always change things later on if needed. As for Mississippi, maybe it will be better just going by the whole state, and when you can, go to specific city-by-city detail. For example, Pass Christian, but also the bigger cities. That'll be better than going by county. I imagine most of the impacts will be near the coast, anyway, so when you have stuff that's farther inland (Jackson?), that sort of stuff could go at the end, since that would probably be more minor compared to the coast. And yea, I'll keep an eye out for aftermath for Virginia. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:26, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
