Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Edward Coristine sources call him an engineer, what sources are you using to call him a programmer?

Please explain. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 12:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A previous edit had changed him from a software engineer to a "software worker" stating that he doesn't have any qualifications to be referred to as an engineer. This edit broke a link and there is no wikipedia page for "software worker" so at first i fixed the link to say software engineer, then after checking the edit history i noticed the previous edit and changed it again to programmer as this is a generic term not dependant on any qualification that has its own wikipedia page and that was in the spirit of the previous edit.
I have no strong feelings either way, if the previous edit was incorrect in making the change away from "software engineer" i have no objection to changing it back. Giuliotf (talk) 13:46, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As we go by what reliable sources say, and not our opinions, it should say engineer. That may seem nuts, but that's what the sources say. If we have good sources that haven't been found using other terms, we might be able to use those as well. Doug Weller talk 14:11, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Spinster300 was:
The proposed article does not have sufficient content to require an article of its own, but it could be merged into the existing article at Aleutian Islands campaign. Since anyone can edit Wikipedia, you are welcome to add that information yourself. Thank you.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited O. P. Hubbard, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wabash. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Help Verify Italian Ref

Hello @Giuliotf, I'd appreciate your help in verifying the following Italian publications I listed on the ADF, to determine whether they meet the criteria of WP:GNG: iltitolo.it, notizienazionali.it, liquidarte.it, and, donna glamour. All of these appear on Google News, and the publishers are identifiable and accountable. There are some concerns regarding potential WP:PROMO and neutrality issues, both in the article itself and on the subject’s official website. While many of the mentions are relatively trivial on top-tier European newspapers, the subject has recently been featured in higher-profile Italian media for his film Anime di coraggio, which was showcased at a the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on 5 September 2025.
