Hi mentor, nice to meet you!
My company, back in 2019, through an outsourcing agency, opened the Wikipedia account. However, that outsourcing agency, called 4S, no longer works with us, and it has been very difficult to get their help in retrieving the access credentials for the "Panama Pacifico" account (real estate developer). We don’t know what else to do to recover the account, since we are not sure which email address they used, who the admin was—we believe it was "admin4s"—but the outsourcing agency is not receiving the password reset emails, nor can they find any records from 2019.
I have just created another account under the name "Panama Pacifico," but we would prefer to use the existing one for indexing reasons, among others. What can we do? We can validate the ownership of "Panamá Pacífico" in several ways: domain ownership, legal documents, provider letter (4S), or any other requirement.
Hi Toadspike. The above user's username falls foul of WP:ISU. As their mentor it might be an idea for you to inform them that they need to create an individual account which must be restricted to one person, and then to advise them of conflict of interest, etc, in case they wish to edit articles related to their company. As it currently stands, they could be blocked for having an inappropriate username. They appear to be well meaning, so I think it's just a case of giving them the right advice. I've just looked, and its also worth noting that there have been several Single Purpose Accounts editing in the topic area the above user appears to be interested in. It's unclear if the same company are behind those accounts, but there's a bit more to this request than first appears, and they need more advice to prevent them and Wikipedia coming into conflict. @SilkTork Yep, that username is problematic. As they said they're in the process of changing their username, I was not very worried. This user has still not made any edits aside from posting that question (which is true for a lot of mentees), so they shouldn’t catch a block per CORPNAME. That section advises us to encourage a username change, something they're already working on.
Their post also gave me the impression that they are familiar with our paid editing rules and their use of the singular first-person pronoun gave me the impression there is only one person operating this account. I'll keep an eye on things, though.
Hello Toadspike! I created my account because I love reading the daily article and viewing the image of the day. I just want to know what the process is for making suggestions. Thanks! --RedRampageRuckusRaider (talk) 03:08, 2 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RedRampageRuckusRaider Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you enjoy the Main page. You can edit most articles by clicking the "Edit" button in the top right. If you are not sure about an edit, you can leave a note on the article's Talk page (found by clicking "Talk" on the top right) or you can come back here and ask me. You should always be able to find me by clicking on your username in the top right, which will take you to your Homepage, or by typing "User talk:Toadspike" into the search bar. passing leek's gift to me and now to you. Starting at 50px and upping it as needed (1x so far). Whatever happens at RFA will never detract from the positive impact you have on others or will have in the future. Don't forget that's the whole point :) kinehore, friend. @Frost man 2 If someone discovers that you made a mistake, they should tell you on your talk page, User talk:Frost man 2. You will get a notification in the top right corner, a yellow bar and a red notification icon, similar to the one cause by this message.
If you are asking about factual accuracy of our articles, the best way to check if something is true is to read the source cited for it (the little blue number at the end of the sentence). Toadspike[Talk]10:55, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I have question about linking articles. Do we link articles in the references, i.e. if a study from uChicago was cited, would we link uChicago in the citation? --Alyyosha (talk) 19:08, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Alyyosha That is a very good question! Yes, we often use links in references like that, though you should try to only link the first instance. So if you cite two different UChicago studies, you only link UChicago the first time. You can see examples in today's featured article, Otto Hahn, where the names of several notable authors with Wikipedia articles are linked. Toadspike[Talk]21:24, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
