തോമസ് ഹെൻറി അപ്പോത്തിക്കരിയുടെ പുത്രനായി 1774 ഡിസംബർ 12നു ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെ മാഞ്ചസ്റ്ററിൽ ജനിച്ചു.^[3] ^[4]
