ആഫ്രിക്കൻ-അമേരിക്കൻ കോളേജ് വനിതകൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ ഗ്രീക്ക് ലെറ്റർ ഓർഗനൈസേഷൻ (GLOs) ആണ് ആൽഫാ കപ്പാ ആൽഫാ (ΑΚΑ). കോളേജ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടിയ സ്ത്രീകളാണ് ഇതിലെ അംഗങ്ങൾ.^[4]സംഘടന അഞ്ച് അടിസ്ഥാന പ്രമാണങ്ങളെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാണ് സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

ഉയർന്ന സ്കോളാസ്റ്റിക്, നൈതിക മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങൾ നട്ടുവളർത്തുന്നതിനും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും, കോളേജ് സ്ത്രീകൾക്കിടയിൽ ഐക്യവും സൗഹൃദവും വളർത്തുന്നതിനും, പെൺകുട്ടികളുടെയും സ്ത്രീകളുടെയും സാമൂഹിക നിലവാരം മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനായി അവരുടെ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ പരിഹരിക്കുന്നതിന് പഠിക്കാനും സഹായിക്കാനും, കോളേജ് ജീവിതത്തിൽ പുരോഗമന താൽപര്യം നിലനിർത്താനും, 'എല്ലാ മനുഷ്യവർഗത്തിനും വേണ്ടിയുള്ള സേവനത്തിനും'.^[5]

1908 ജനുവരി 15 ന്‌ വാഷിംഗ്‌ടൺ ഡി.സിയിലെ ചരിത്രപരമായി ബ്ലാക്ക് ഹോവാർഡ് യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയിൽ എഥേൽ ഹെഡ്‌മാൻ ലൈലിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ പതിനാറ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെ സംഘമാണ് ഈ സോറിറ്റി സ്ഥാപിച്ചത്. ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ ന്യൂനപക്ഷങ്ങൾക്കും സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും അവസരങ്ങളുടെ അഭാവം മൂലം ആഫ്രിക്കൻ-അമേരിക്കൻ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് അധികാരമോ ശക്തിയോ ഇല്ലാത്ത പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു സോറിറ്റി രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നത് തടസ്സങ്ങൾ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു.^[6] 1913 ജനുവരി 29 നാണ് ആൽഫ കപ്പ ആൽഫ സംയോജിപ്പിച്ചത്.
