Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation pages with links
Cycling racesDear fellow DPL warriors - I am aware that there are now hundreds of links to the newly-created disambiguation pages Amstel Gold Race, Brabantse Pijl and Tour of Flanders, all as a result of my closing an RM. I am working through them slowly and as ever your help is appreciated. CapnZapp (talk) 08:18, 17 June 2025 (UTC) This concept needs a nameI would like to propose Switchboard or some similar reference to manual telephone routing as a bit of shorthand for this patrol's purpose, as there's no existing term for this relatively complex process (that honestly isn't super well articulated in "Disambiguation pages with links", as "links" may well be interpreted as the various destination pages that all DABs are expected to have) as well as an issue that a lot of Wikipedia contributors may not be aware of. The switchboard metaphor is quite effective at communicating the idea of "routing a vague link to its correct destination" while also making it more obvious to editors, through the real-world association, that they should be aware of these dangling references and make an effort to check and reroute all links themselves so that a "switchboard operator" doesn't need to do it afterwards. Punjab University - Mirajul Haq Deobandi (neither article sources nor his online research page specify) More doubtless coming soon. Catgirl Mozart (talk) 16:13, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
Lists on Toolforge failingSeveral lists on toolforge (eg Templates with disambiguation links, Templates with disambiguation links ) are timing out with the error message: "The web service for this tool is running but cannot be reached. Please check the error logs of your web service." The links given for the tool maintainers do not work/have stopped editing. Can anyone help?— Rod talk 19:55, 12 July 2025 (UTC) |
