When you upload photos for articles in need of them, please be sure to remove the |reqphoto=… in the {{WikiProject Oregon}} template on the talk page. Also, you don't need to add the photos to the talk page. It's better to add them directly in the article. That way we can be sure readers will see them. Thanks! Indeed. One of the things the project really needed was somebody who had the capacity to mass-upload self-taken photos. I'm sorry if I keep bugging you about little things, but a good way to make sure the image(s) you add to an article will be seen by the reader is if you place the image in the infobox, unless there already is one there. Just omit the "File:" prefix, fill in the size as 250px, and add the caption in the line below that.

I'm not so sure about having an article for that K-8 school in Bethel. (Nice picture, though! ) I doubt the school meets Wikipedia notability guidelines. Your other articles-in-progress probably make the cut, but be careful with spelling. For the unincorporated community, if the USGS has it in its geographic names database—which also provides the coordinates of the place, which you can add to the article—there's no need to worry about notability. I'm glad you're interested in starting articles! WikiProject Oregon has a list of articles to create here, by the way. Maybe sometime soon I'll be able to write another from that list myself. Read your Commons talk page to see how badly you'd been scolded, and see that your upbraider refers to photos in Tacoma. Is there any chance that at some point in the future, you'd find yourself in the Museum of Flight in Seattle? If so, may I put in an earnest request for a shot of the red Curtiss-Robertson Robin C-1 (here's their webpage on it)? I'd really like a photo of it to illustrate the article on the McCook Daily Gazette, which used what's now the museum's airplane to drop bundles of newspapers to local deliverers in small Nebraska and Kansas towns in the 1920s, thus becoming the first newspaper to do regular delivery by air. In a well-meaning but clumsy attempt to help a friend who had a paper route, I once made hay of a customer's Halloween display with an inaccurately-slung Sunday paper. Air power would've greatly increased my ability to do damage; I could have scattered shards of pumpkin over the entire block and driven them an inch deep into the front door... Regrettably, the Gazette didn't do house-by-house delivery by airdrop; they dropped bundles into prearranged fields, where the local carriers picked them up. But one can imagine...

Ordinarily, I don't watch talk pages on which I've left messages; luckily, I forgot to uncheck the "Watch this page" box when I left my last message, so was aware that you'd responded. The storyboards are interesting—I hadn't known about the car-giveaway promotion—but I'd be cautious about uploading photos of things like that, because I'm not sure if the text or images on them is covered by copyright.

I greatly appreciate your getting the photos. One thing that I haven't found on WP is a way to contact local photographers with requests for specific pictures. I've put a note up at WP:WikiProject Nebraska indicating that I'd be willing to try and photograph specific sites in the state; but it'd be a good thing if WP had a more organized way for editors seeking photos to get in touch with photographers who might be willing and able to take them. On the tire changer, I had a blowout on a Los Angeles freeway last month and DIDN'T video the guy fixing the tire because I thought no one would want to see it... I'm thinking of posting this somewhere. Please tell me what you think:

I saw little wood carvings on rotating pedestals today. They took about 30 seconds to go around. I was thinking about borrowing one for a day and going to main intersections or hubs in the city, putting my camera on it, and filming a 360 view. Would such videos be suitable in an article or commonscat, or just be disorienting? I'm thinking of articles like, say, a village in Albania, an evening hawker stall area in Thailand, an base in Antarctica, an oil rig wheel house, a university campus somewhere, a sausage factory in Wales, a Saudi Palace, etc. Thoughts?

I think it's splendid! At first I thought the rotation speed was too fast, but now I think that your speed is best, and maybe twice around conveys the most to the brain. Too slow and we forget where we were. I'm not sure.

Conversion size/quality issue:

• My camera creates avi.
• I use editing software to lower the volume, crop and fade in and out, then export as mp4.
• I convert the mp4 to ogv with Miro Video Converter.

Your video is 30 seconds and around 7MB. I can do the same via avi --> mp4 --> ogv, but the quality is not like yours. To get almost your quality (as with the fish market video) I do avi --> mpeg2 --> ogv, but it is 1MB per second.

Oh, and at first I thought that was a wok salesman and wondered where the music was coming from. Then I figured it out: steel drum meets wok. Cool. I want one. :)

Again, not a requirement, but it might make uploading and categorizing easier. I think "campus" articles should be more prose-oriented, providing information about its history, expansion, designers, architects, major changes, etc. From that article, a List of University of Oregon buildings would also be beneficial. Thanks for the coffee! An ongoing project I have been interested in is photographing lunch counters. New York had so many lunch counters, and they had these photogenic, ten-gallon coffee urns behind the counter. Another subject I never tire of is coffee roasters. If you drop by a small-batch roaster, they might let you photograph the machine. (I just found a Vittoria last week). NYC roasters probably have a Gothat or a Royal in the back room. Lunch counters and coffee roasters (coffee roasting) have their own categories on commons. I would be up for a more well-defined project when it presents itself. Nice job creating a long-needed article on Feig. Just FYI, I noticed you used the Ritz book as a reference. Per Mr. Teague, with whom I chatted a bit about my woefully inadequate Edgar M. Lazarus article, the book is pretty inaccurate as it was unfinished at Ritz's death. It's still a useful book but caution and multiple sources are advised. The event will be held at the museum on Thursday, March 7 from 4 to 8 pm. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Members of the public are invited to come to the museum to learn about the editing process, its history, its impact, and how to do it. We aim to collaboratively edit/enter 18 Jewish women artists into the canon. Support will be provided by an experienced local Wikipedian who will be on site to teach and guide the process. You are invited! An Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon will be held in Portland, Oregon, on March 12, 2022. Learn more here!

Wikipedia is one of the most-visited sites on the internet—and it’s created by people who volunteer their time to write and edit pages. Learn how to edit Wikipedia and be a part of shaping our understanding of our world. In this workshop, volunteer Wikipedia editors will be on hand to train participants on how to get started editing pages and offer ideas for which pages you can pitch in to help improve. Show up at any point during the four hours to get started!

Also: Free burritos!! We will be providing vegan, vegetarian, and meat burritos from food cart Loncheria Las Mayos. Alder Commons has a large, fenced playground. Children are welcome! Some computers will be available to borrow, but if you have a laptop, please bring it to use. We will also be leading an online training for new editors at 11am-12pm PST. Please feel free to join that training if you are not able to show up IRL.

The place exists, but apart from GNIS, sites that regurgitate GNIS data, and sites that mirror WP, I could find no information about Indiola. There was once a Camp Indiola: [5], but it's not clear the camp and the community were the same thing. With so little information available, there isn't much we can say other than GNIS has a dot on the map at these coordinates named Indiola. Fails WP:GEOLAND and WP:GNG.
