Oo, well I think if it is "free" then it should be okay, but like images we can't just have permission to use on Wikipedia but for all third parties (pref. under GNU licence). Hello U5K0

I created the article about the film on the French language edition on last May and till today nobody has contested its existence. You talk about the strictness of the English Wikipedia's guidelines, but actually I'm not completely sure. Maybe we've keep it on the French version just because there isn't so much people contributing on our project compared to the English one. So I think the more the community is important and the more the chances having people contesting articles or statements are higher. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe you're right, I admit this subjects are questionable.

But as for your article (I mean the article you created, I know it's not actually yours), maybe we can move it to the Wikipedia namespace till the day the film will become famous enough to be on the main namespace (I think it will happen some days before its release, when television and radio stations will talk about it). Unfortunately Wikipedia:Truth in Numbers: The Wikipedia Story does not have enough independent reputable references, so I canot tell you whether it may be made into "real" article. Please keep in mind that blogs, wikis, forums, YouTube, personal websites, etc. do not count towards independent wikipedia:reliable sources. Plus there is a rule Wikpedia is not a crystal ball, and to describe a future event it must be ironclad planned (e.g., releases by major film sturios) or generate significant buzz. The wikipedia story is hardly notable yet, judging by mere 157 unique google hits. In other words, the text does not address the objections stated during the deletion. Hi. The article is pretty good, except for a few things. Parts of it need to be a tad more NPOV. Also, youtube links and other wiki-sites should not be in the refs. Also, I'd prefer a description rather than a directly copy-and-pasted caption for each segment of the video. It would also be a good idea to include a template on the top that this is a sandbox article rather than a full-fledged real article. It'd be good if we got more people to collabrate. Luckily, that video that is displayed at the top on some computers informs people about the documentary. Unfortuneately, a lot of people might only be searching in mainspace and might not find it as easily. I'd suggest a Requests for Feedback to help you get more opinions about how good the article is. It's sad to say, but the current ESRO text is likely to be deemed an unacceptable copyright violation. The source copyright holder is ESA. For images (at least) ESA does not permit wikipedia to use their copyrighted material in articles. At a minimum, this use on wikipedia requires review by someone more familiar with the issues than I. As far as I know the official "working languages" of ESA are English and French; ESRIN is the European Space Research Institute which presently is the ESA centre for Earth Observation... anything incorrect about this? Well Template:WikiProject Europe has to be updated with a taskforce option for ESA, put a request on its talk page if you can't do it yourself (I can't, well I could try but I'll bugger something up). Category that and infrastructure though comes a poor second to the most important thing: members. Unfortunately, my "expertise" (and I use the term loosely) is in the "Space Race," starting at the end of WWII through the end of NASA's Apollo program. I know very little about the Space Shuttle program (except that it was doomed from the start, given the way the Orbiter was whittled down by Congressional penny-pinchers, and I know next to nothing about the ESA. Ok I sorted it out, to add information about license just go to the image page and hit edit. When you make derivatives of other images found on Wikipedia or Commons you need to make sure you first of all link to the original and attribute the author of the image. Secondly you need to comply with the license terms the original image was released under, in case of the GFDL or CC-BY-SA license this means that you need to release the derivative under the same license. This one was dual licensed so you could have chosen either one of the two licenses, but as long as it's still used here on Wikipedia we might as well dual license the result as well by complying with both licenses (for people using the image on another site it's more convenient to just pick the CC license for example, but here we already have the full text of the license handy and such so no extra hassle).

About links in title sections : what are the objections ? It is much easier to navigate, and it allows you access to two levels of complexity in one spot. Please consider a table, no more sorting. Location should be just one field in the facility record. If we sort them by modules, it will be hard to follow where they are, since this things move around a lot. NASA has a special team, just to follow them, if i remember correctly. We don't. Think about it, i will too, we must find a very compact solution, with close to zero maintenance. Plus someone might come with the idea of different sorting, and we will have a mess. Hardware, or anything else, should be grouped from an atom up. In case of hardware that would be facility, so hierarchy goes like ISS/module/rack/facility/experiment, and this is also structure for the table i'm after - no more sections, we are already two levels deep, bad enough, but at least it is levelled. Very nice job with the last addition of ESA experiments. You might have noticed normalized new article title pattern, which goes like this - ABBREVIATION (ISS Experiment). Some experiments already started to link, i expect more of that to happen in the future. We will solve ambiguity problems on a case per case bases, not that many, if there is (ISS Experiment) addition to the title. I would recommend similar approach to new articles in facilities section, like (ISS Facility), exact word doesn't matter, we can do mass search and replace later, as long as it differs from anything else. Hi, as I'm sure you are probably aware the pace of improvement on space-related articles is very slow, there appears a very low participation-rate compared to the volume of related articles and there seems to be little coordination compared to other topics.

I was inspired part by your ESA task force and part by what other wikiprojects have done like Wikipedia:WikiProject_Military_history to look at how we can improve participation in developing space-related articles (including of ESA).

Anyway I've laid out some opening thoughts over on WikiProject Space to see what people think, so I just wondered if you want to make some comments,

I hope you won't mind, but I'd like to put the orbital debris pictures back, the picture of the debris in low earth orbit only has debris, and little else, the model from further away shows essentially the same thing plus the two rings of different inclinations around the geostationary positions, which illustrates the many comm-sats that we use in Geosync orbit, and the similar orbit on the solar plane, it may prompt further interest for the readers on that basis. But if you conduct a poll in the talkpage about it I'll keep it as whatever picture people on a whole like better.

Thank you for your ongoing assistance, if you do have an interest, do you know/can you find out, how to describe the second ring that is not used by the usual TV satellites ? i don't think it is their graveyard orbit, or maybe they drift into it due to some kind of tidal action, there is so much work to be done, I'd love your help if you are interested in orbital debris,. also, even if I do it myself, but have got pointers from you, I'll credit you with finding the information, as you can see in the edit summary already, I give credit where it's due. Hello again U5K0, it's good to have some ongoing help, I like your editing very much. I am concerned about the double photograph, I'm impressed with your knowledge about doing that sort of thing, but I am worried it will be a target for reversion by 'one click' editors. I have a vague recollection about uniformity within articles, and most everything needing to follow that uniformity unless wide consensus is reached on the talkpage first. You know I'm very agreeable to everyones suggestions, but i think other people will revert it, and rightly so, as it's contrary to the guidelines for editing. I have also been wondering how to accommodate all the additional photographs, but for now, until either you or I research the rules better, I think it's best you pop them back to the same way all the images are done... how do you feel about that? Fair enough, lets leave it as it is for now, however I must insist on the captioning, there is a 'credit where it is due' clause of my own, the astrophotographer who took the photo through his telescope must have recognition, astrophotography fans may want to know his name and more about his work, thats only fair. I also asked him to review my original work, the addition of his image, captioning (and alt description for the blind, or thats what i think it's for), so I'll want those elements returned. Hello again U5K0, I'm worried about some of the edits you've made, I'd like you to reconsider if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to add the following ideas for your consideration in deciding what you'd like to do...

• The sightings sections and text are a natural flow-on from the education section, so teachers can find that information straight away. The cultural outreach section would stop some of them reading further, like a speedhump.

• Talking to the pop or martha steward is not educational, and doesn't belong in that section, cultural outreach is one of the purposes, a small one, thats true, so it goes at the end of that section.

• Just like you I'm not interested in reading about biology of lifeforms that can survive in outerspace, and it has nothing to do with the ISS, but some people are interested in that sort of thing, so the links are important for them to continue research after hearing about some lifeform that survived on the ISS. It's not for us, we think that stuff is a bore, it's for them. adding those links helps people find what they are looking for on wiki, there are many articles called orphans that are good articles, but nobody can find them, so they may as well not exist.

It's good to see your taking an interest in the ISS though, keep up the good work. see if you can find things to expand the sections I have started, some other editor(s) have identified my unfinished work there. Penyulap _talk 22:07, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really glad that I can help keep your spirits up ! at the moment I'm having problems that prevent me from wanting to edit altogether, so I'm very glad I can be of help in some way. Don't give up, the future is bright !

Now, onto matters at hand,. about the new sections I made, when I did so, I had in mind material that isn't yet inside the article, stuff still to come, and really, I've completed work on the index, it will last in the format I last left it for a few years at least.

There are things that have nothing to do with education, like that twit martha steward i found, sorry, she's not my cup of tea, but she is appealing to many, popular, and like the pope, needs mentioning on that basis. So there are things that come under culture that are really diverse. Like the pope. And movies, songs, things like that referring to the ISS, it's all under cultural outreach. I didn't have any time to add links to those people, you could work there, also, if you can find any effective way to get google to find other famous people, or a list somewhere, you could pick out the ones that are famous, but please leave out boring ones like politicians, they all call the station and nobody wants to read about it, it's useless fluff. Besides famous people there are other things that go into that category, but I'll get to that later. You could find and add a video for a classroom linkup session. although you'd need to be prepared to ask for permission to have it released into the public domain, I've been doing that and I'm waiting on two responses and have had success with two others, and added them to wiki. All you need to do is write an email and ask them to release an image you want into the public domain, or give you one that they want to release. Just be polite, and explain that anyone from that time will be able to draw all over their work and so forth, I told Ralph kids would draw aliens on his pic for example. It wasn't the original one I asked for but it didn't matter as it does the job for that section. Anyhow, a classroom video of an ISS linkup as an example for teachers to know what to expect and so forth would be cool. See if you can get an overseas one, I was watching a Japanese one, the kids were all speaking in a foreign language (which was english) which is good because that's one more thing that they were learning in that class.
