New pages patrol needs your help!
New pages awaiting review as of June 30th, 2023.
Hello Tol/Archives/2023,
The New Page Patrol team is sending you this impromptu message to inform you of a steeply rising backlog of articles needing review. If you have any extra time to spare, please consider reviewing one or two articles each day to help lower the backlog. You can start reviewing by visiting Special:NewPagesFeed. Thank you very much for your help.
Hello, @Petestroh96, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so it aims to include relevant, neutral, and verifiable information on notable topics. We do not have any say over the name of sports teams, and Wikipedia is not a forum for discussion or speculation on the subjects of articles. If you are interested in contributing to Wikipedia, such as by improving the page on the El Paso Chihuahuas, you can view an introductory tutorial here. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 19:13, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Omn1kingbater; welcome to Wikipedia! I believe you are referring to a list article (as in, "List of..."). These lists will have some sort of selection criteria; often, this will be that list entries should themselves be notable (and hence have or could have a Wikipedia page on them). Sometimes, entries that are not notable on their own can be added to a list, but notability is usually the criterion for lists of people. As a general rule, if you personally know or are involved with another person or topic, you should avoid writing about it — so you should avoid adding information on people you know directly to Wikipedia. However, if the person you are thinking of already has a Wikipedia article, then it is likely that the person is notable, and you would be more than welcome to add the name to the list, if appropriate. Thanks! I’ll leave the final leaderboard formatting decision up to Zippy, but I think number of articles reviewed in one column, number of redirects reviewed in another column, and total points in a third column. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 21:08, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Illusion Flame: There were discussions about weighted values as well. The values haven't been decided yet so that formula is TBD. Table and scripting to count articles vs redirects can still be worked on in the mean time though. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:15, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Dicklyon: Hm; interesting. I don't believe it'll gain consensus to lowercase the words immediately after the en-dashes (and I think wider discussion would be needed for a change of that scale), but moving these as proposed looks fine to me. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:55, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nevermind, it would be no bother for me to do the moves myself. I wouldn't mind some free edits anyway. Thanks anyway! (Finished.) {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 13:29, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies; I was unexpectedly quite busy and didn't get to this nearly as quickly as I had thought. Thanks for taking care of this. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:26, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I have not worked on this draft; all I did was decline the AfC submission and restore the previous decline messages. You're welcome to work on the draft and resubmit it when you think it's ready. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:28, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
