User talk:Timmccloud/Archive 1Thank you all for your assistance in getting me up to speed on how to champion a new page, contest things, and help me get the article for [the noob] to be as acceptable as possible before it's final review on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/The_noob As of this writing, the final vote was "no consensus", which means that the article stays on wikipedia for the time being. Yea! Special thanks to:
re: Talk:OotSIt's not proper etiquette to delete other people's comments unless they vandalize the talk page or make comments with no informational content ("So-and-so rocks and is omgcool and I totally love him" or whatever). After all, I don't think you would like it if someone was censoring your comments either. As for the "other edits" that I threw away, I'm not sure what changes you're referring to. All I did was restore the discussions while keeping your rating tag. --Pentasyllabic 22:06, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
I have further explained my rational for the Original research tag on this article, but I have not replaced it at this time. i kan reed 04:30, 8 February 2007 (UTC) Re: The noob AfDThe level of devotion you have shown toward this page and the improvement of Wikipedia is admirable. If the editors here had no passion, we would have no free encyclopedia. I didn't want you to get the impression that I was making this a personal issue against you or webcomics in general - I just happen to believe in principles like verifiability, reliable sources, and encyclopedic standards, and I don't want to see the ease of publishing afforded by the Internet result in an erosion in scholarly and professional analysis, and common-sense standards. I don't know what the accusation of a hidden agenda is about, but I would like to lay that to rest. Like I said, I don't have any connection to the "webcomic scene", or any vendetta against it. Perhaps that the material proposed for deletion should be transwikied to a specialized fan site on a Wikia-like provider? The Noob Comic - LuckyherbThank you for your input to the noob DRV. If you want to make edits to improve the article during the DRV, the last content has been replicated in my userspace at User:Timmccloud/The_noob. Any help would be surely welcomed! Timmccloud 00:53, 19 February 2007 (UTC) Hi there, I have been looking at the article, and I think that alot of it could be removed. I am going to go ahead and do some work on it, a bit of chainsaw love so to speak. If you dont agree with some of the changes I make feel free to revert them, and we can work on bringing the article up to scratch should the DRV succeed. Cheers. Luckyherb 12:07, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I just gave the article a pretty major trim, removing most of the content that was a little unnessecary for an encyclopedia article. I think that maybe the character list should be cut down to just the main few as well. Oforf, the Pkers etc. Som on that list appear in very few comics. Ill do some more later. Feedback would be appreciated. Luckyherb 12:21, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that seems like the best way to include them in the article. I noticed that you left out 3 of the reviews you put on my talk page. Ill leave that for you to sort out. I think i might take out a couple of the characters that are less notable too. Cheers Luckyherb 01:34, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Also, the author Gianna Masetti is very active on The Noob website, so if we can think of any questions or would like any info I am sure she would be happy to help us out. Luckyherb 01:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC) NetOracle and The NoobThank you for alerting me to the discussion regarding NHN. I do not feel he acted in bad faith, but was unable to post any statement at all to his RfC due to the lateness of my arrival on the scene. It's hard on top, and he came to a difficult decision. That I, and most others, disagree with it does not make it wrong, but his unilateralism does give the air of pretension. At any rate... I have posted a Request for Assistance on NetOracle's Talk page; as you seem to have an excellent grasp of Wikipedia policies and methods, I wanted to alert you to it. If you need more information or any form of help, you know where to find me. Thanks! Jouster 02:57, 21 February 2007 (UTC) Two Questions re:The noobI've responded on my talk page. Re. the removal of the link- if sites are considered non-notable for our purposes, we shouldn't link to them from the deletedpage notice. If it is overturned, and considered notable, then it will be returned. Until then, the link is unnecessary. Poe and "The Hollow Earth"Hey, just so you know, I moved the reference to "The Hollow Earth" novel from the Edgar Allan Poe page. We're trying to maintain Edgar Allan Poe in popular culture for literature that uses the historical Poe as a fictional character. Feel free to expand "The Hollow Earth" listing there - especially if you have better context for the role he played in the book, etc. Thanks!! -Midnightdreary 23:53, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Eagle RockDavid, would you please explain to me why the brother of someone famous, who is not famous in their own right - and not notable enough to have their own bio page in wikipedia - warrants a entry in the Eagle Rock article? And a picture? Matt Lauder's lived there - but then so did I - so how is Matt so notable he has a photo and 1/2 a paragraph dedicated to him - and when did we start including noting famous peoples newphews who are golf instructors in articles? It's a really nice picture of Matt, but even by the largest stretch of my imagination I can't see how Matt is notable to meet wikipedia guidelines. Now if his BROTHER lived in Eagle Rock, I could see the inclusion, but you don't mention that at all. Your assistance in helping me understand this would be appreciated. Timmccloud
Marshall, WI imagesI drove through Marshall this morning and I took some pictures. Should I upload my pictures that didn't turn out very well, or would you like to upload some pictures of the downtown and welcome sign? It was dreary outside at the time that I took them, and some pictures on a nice sunny day with the sun at your back would put my pictures to shame. Royalbroil 02:57, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Aw thanksWhat's with the "beef" stuff on the article then? Did you go to Dane Court? Hamletpride (talk) 15:26, 7 May 2008 (UTC) For want of a nailI thought the article was fairly complete; the talk page template makes the expand template redundant as well. Template on VaarsuviusMy bad. I was putting a lot of templates up one after another on a group of articles and not paying close attention to the previews. Thanks for fixing that typo. --Politizer (talk) 16:57, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
D&D articles for Wikipedia 0.7Hi there! :) As someone who's worked on D&D and/or RPG articles before, I'm inviting you to participate in our goal to both improve articles that have been selected to be placed in the next Wikipedia DVD release, as well as nominate more to be selected for this project. Please see the WikiProject D&D talk page for more details. :) BOZ (talk) 19:35, 24 September 2008 (UTC) Re: LightmouseLooks like I'm not the only one who disagreed with the removal. See his talk page — I would rather you not mention me or that an editor reversed his comment if you do decide to join the discussion. Thanks. --Izno (talk) 05:03, 21 October 2008 (UTC) VaucluseThanks for the compliment about Vaucluse. I looked at the article recently and saw all these pix of heritage buildings, but not a word about them in the text, so that's what got me going. Nice to get some positive feedback. Doesn't happen much around here. What's that about deleting the lighthouse? I deleted some shots from the article because there was too much duplication, but I deleted my own shot of Mac Lighthouse rather than the other bloke's, because some of these people get upset when you delete their shots. But then JBar came along and restored mine and dropped the other bloke's. So tell him it wasn't me. The nominated article is List of computer system manufacturers. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of computer system manufacturers 2.
