Hello Technopat,

I am not registered as an editor, but I am sure about the fact that my changes on the Bell Challenge were more than constructive. On the following link you can see that up to the last edition of the Bell Challenge in 2012, the court type was NOT hard court but a carpet court. In order to see this, have a look at the pdf-draws of the last tournaments of this WTA link.

Why is this fact important? Hard courts are significantly slower than carpet courts. On a carpet court, the ball does bounce not as high as on hard court and the game resembles more that of a grass court. Long into the 2000s, many indoor events on both the ATP and WTA were held on carpet courts. However, the ATP has changed all carpet court indoor tournaments into hard court ones and in 2007, the last edition of the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo (WTA) were held on carpet. This means that since 2008, the Bell Challenge is the last professional tournament to be held on carpet court.

Therefore, please undo the delete of my changes. Moreover, I am not pleased with the court types of some WTA events in the past on Wikipedia on both their tournament sites and the calendars. For example, the Tokyo event which was traditionally held a week after the Australian Open was up to 2007 a carpet court event. The calendars of the WTA sometimes indicate it wrongly as a hard court event.

You removed my addition to the Irene Zisblatt page about the veracity of her testimony being called into question. I didn't cite it, that is true. I have a very compelling feeling, however, that were I too, it would be removed anyway, because the subject matter is the Holocaust and its inclusion would appear to be evidence of "Holocaust Denial", which, within the current climate of political correctness in the West, would mean, regardless of the veracity of my own assertions, it would still be struck from the record.

Then let me put it this way: Irene Zisblatt's testimony is destructive to the memory of the Holocaust. Her testimony is so outrageously fraudulent in fact - research it for yourself - that the antisemites have exploited it endlessly to prove that the Holocaust is a myth. Now, it is in that spirit that I wish to be considered when I amend the Wikipedia entry to include those words. What say you Technopat? Regarding your recent edit: I didn't add that bit of information to the article, but I know that Frank and Ivy Stranahan were, perhaps, the first residents of Las Olas Boulevard. I delete trivia sections every time I see them without fail. Do I really need to explain why trivia doesn't belong in an encyclopedia? This is not TVTropes. References to popular culture are only notable when the subject has taken on a different meaning in society based on the reference. The article is updated with the lines from an valid source. This article is about the community living in Tamil nadu , India . So rather than any other books , the valid archaeological evidences which are found in tamilnadu by Archaelogical society of India is the most reliable source for this topic. I add the lines based on the inscriptions found in Archaelogical things which was found by archaeological society of India .

So if you feel some thing is not better you should not remove it from the article. If you have the rights to add some valid points to the article , I have same rights to add the facts in the article.

May I ask why you continue to change the folding boat page into a page about kayaks? There is already a folding kayaks page so I'm a little unsure as to why the page on boats keeps being edited back to one on kayaks. They are different; that's why there are two separate pages.

As far as pictures go, we will remove the kayak picture because surely isn't it more logical to have a picture of a folding boat on the folding boats page? We can find a picture without any logos however I would like to point out that when you give examples of things, you generally say what they are e.g. on folding kayak the picture says 'Klepper Aerius', on tablet computer it says 'iPad', on fast food it shows KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc. So what is the difference between having a picture with a logo and having a picture without logo but with text giving you the exact make and model? By my reasoning it equates to the same amount of 'advertising'.

Regarding the use of promotional content, I agree with you there and that can be easily edited however changing the entire topic of the page is just curious. It's like having a page dedicated to dog food but instead talking about cat food...

Hi again, yep you're right. I did exactly what I hate people doing and had a little internet whinge instead of just fixing it myself. At the end of the day it's just Wikipedia and I'm sure there are many Wikipedites out there who believe in the 'cause' but I'm not one of them (don't take offence if you live on here yourself, it's only my opinion and not fact). I am however someone who is very involved with folding boats and therefore can edit the factual side.

What I don't know is all the do's and don'ts of the red tape that comes with an anyone can edit forum. However I hope I'm right in assuming that you do and so I'd love it if you could check out the page in a couple of days and let me know of anything oversteps the mark. For me, anything that I write will not be advertising but fact however if it is perceived differently then I'd love to know rather than just fall victim to an arbitrary undo.

Before beginning, I'd like to clarify whether providing a list of folding boat manufacturers and advantages/disadvantages is fine as they've been poo pooed by yourself in previous edits? To me that doesn't seem like advertising if it's just a list of names but I haven't familiarised myself with the minutiae of Wikipedia.

To clarify:

INTRO 1)Introducing the associated name "The Bull" in the first sentence establishs this alternative and enables it to be used later without suddenly mentioning it with no reference to the name as it is in the page title.

2) The sentence about younger bands and musicians is appropriate in the introduction, as it adds ligitimate details to the description of the page subject. I feel justified in revert this for this reason.

3)The Yamahamusic ref for Jammie Cullum, does reference showcasing younger bands and musicians as well as Cullum. I feel justified in revert this for this reason.

I agree with you that the previous reference could have been be viewed as unnecessary and understand why you deleted it.

I also wish to point out that I merely moved the young musicians paragraph, which was originally entered by Tunebroker, to the introductory text.

MUSICIANS WHO HAVE APPEARED... Cullum is mentioned in this section as, this list would not be with the potential of being complete without him.

The main aim of any venue is to promote music. It is very unusula that a venue such as The Bull has such a policy for new and up coming acts. The Bull's Head has had this type of billing on a Monday for a long time and there is a concious effort to support young talent. This is not usual at a venue of this type.

Which brings me to the Cullum issue. The fact that it is referenced only means it can justifiably appear in the article, not its placing on the billing. The same reference mentions several other performers (and I expect they’ve all been included in the article). It should clearly not precede the venue’s history of legendary performers, many of whom are certainly more famous on an international level than Jamie Cullum, however much of a star he may be in the UK. Wikipedia's article's are aimed at an international readership, not specifically at UK readers. As a promotional gimmick, from the point of view of Yamaha plugging its wares on a flyer,

and for local consumption, it’s fine, but Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia and must therefore be very clear in its NPOV. As I point out in the note I left on the talk page, it is better to leave out any specific name from the lede.

I agree that a change in the word "including" to "such as" would be appropriate and I will change this when I revert the other section.

No. Cullum played many times at the Bull as a young performer in his own right as an upcoming talent and Jagger has only appeared on a couple of occassions. As a comprimise I will put "Unusually for a venue such as this, The Bull showcases new talent as well" and omit Cullum.

But this is an encyclopaedia, and as such, we are not specifically interested in record sales, but in encyclopaedic relevance. So I'm obliged to extend that question to Coleman Hawkins? Ben Webster? It's possible that for anyone under, say, 35 and living in the UK, that may be the case, but demographically and statistically speaking, it won't hold. As I mentioned in my note to you, Wikipedia is not only for the UK, even if the article is about a venue in the UK. But that is beside the point. What I'm getting is that without any of the other performers who are associated with that particular venue, such as (the following list is copy-pasted from the article and is not complete) Coleman Hawkins, Jimmy Witherspoon, Ben Webster, Shorty Rogers, Charlie Rouse, Billy Mitchell, Bud Shank, Al Cohn, Ronnie Scott, George Coleman, Peter King, Humphrey Lyttelton, Stan Tracey, Dick Morrissey, Tony Lee, Terry Smith, Don Weller, Bill Le Sage, Harry South, Tubby Hayes, Spike Robinson, Phil Seamen, Art Themen, Harvey Weston, Digby Fairweather, Stan Sulzmann, Humphrey Lyttelton, Peter King, etc., the dear old Bull wouldn't even have been there in the first place for Cullum to perform at, which is why, rather than put just one random name in the lead, I reckon it's better not to put any.

I mentioned record sales because without them no artist from a single country, becomes internationally or locally well known. Added is that the names on the page are from another generation of important talent and the mention of Cullum in the already quoted phrase, shows that the venue is progressive. Which for international music followers is relevant.

BTW, I realise that the reference is not actually from a flyer, but to all effects and purposes, Yamaha's Educational website is promotional.

I'm new and likely don't understand the protocol, but my recent change to the Cityline page was an attempt to correct misleading links. There is a list of people who have appeared on the Cityline show, but those that have links are linking to incorrect pages. The one I changed links to Jackie Glass, Judge for the OJ Simpson trial. Another Jackie Glass, well known in Canada, is the one who has appeared on Cityline as a designer. Several other names are equally misdirected.

Hello, My recent edit to the Concubinage page was an attempt to instill scientific accuracy into the last sentence of the fourth paragraph. If a woman does not give birth to a male child, it is either because she cannot bear any children at all, or because the man is not able to produce a functional gamete with a Y chromosome. It is more accurate to say that a man would take a concubine if he was not able to have a male child with his wife/wives, than it is to say that his wife could not bear him sons. If a woman can bear children, then she can bear both male and female children without discrimination. Male gametes determine the sex of offspring, not female gametes. Thanks for your efforts to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, my changes in the Lyoness article, which you have undone, were merely a correction of the untruthful changes made by LyoNewMedia. Some of his/her changes were relevant and I incorporated them in the article. However, when he/she for instance states that the name 'Lyoness' merely reminds of the Celtic mythological kingdom, he/she obviously did not read the reference behind that sentence, which links to an interview where Lyoness CEO Hubert Freidl himself says he chose the name 'Lyoness' as a derivation of the mythological name 'Lyonesse'. In his Swedenborg biography (in Swedish), Bergquist writes: The dinner with William Castel and Swedenborg's "sight" aged place at July 29. He do also cite Immanual Kant, who claims a Sunday in Sepember 1756. Bergquist corrects Kant's date but not the day, i.e. he do accept Sunday as correct. And any calender shows July 29 is a Sunday, and July 19 - the day the fire broke out^[1][2] - a Thursday. I have cited the Berquist's original biography and haven't seen the English issue by the Swedenborg Society. Cf. Historical fires of Stockholm. I'll agree that we cannot find the truth about Swedenborg's vision. But there are several facts anyway:

1. Any Gregorian calendar tells that July 19, 1759 was a Thursday. And Sweden converted to the Gregorian calendar at 1753.
2. The original, Swedish issue of Bergquist's Swedenborg biography says (p. 313): The dinner and Swedenborg's vision aged place at Sunday July 29. Bergquist do also cite Kant. Kant dated Swedenborg's vision to a Sunday in September 1756. Bergquist corrects the date to July 29 - but he doesn't correct the Sunday. This is also consistent with the fact that July 19, 1759 was a Thursday.
3. If Bergquist is right, Swedenborg could have got information about the fire without any "paranormal" abilities.

Why July 19, 1759 was a Thursday: Year 1759 (MDCCLIX) was a common year starting on Monday (link will display the full calendar) of the Gregorian calendar and a common year starting on Friday of the 11-day slower Julian calendar). 1759. Common year starting on Monday: July 19 is a Thursday, and July 29 a Sunday.

But you're statement about brandhistoriska.org is correct: They did not wrote the fire aged place at a Thursday.

Probably, the "50 miles from Gothenburg to Stockholm" error is caused by a confusion of "miles". In Sweden (and e.g. Norway, too), a mil is 10 km, i.e. the distance is 50 mil = 500 km. By air, it is about 380 km, but by road it perhaps was about 500 km.

Hi, Technopat! William White's statements are compatible with John Garth Wilkinson's ^[3]. The latter writes, "We find him returning to Gottenburs; from England on the 19th of July, 1759, and here he gave a public proof that he had a more spacious eyesight than was usual in his day. Immanuel Kant, the transcendental philosopher, shall be our historian of the occurrence that took place. "On Saturday, at 4 o'clock, p.m.," says Kant, " when Swedenborg arrived at Gottenburg from England, Mr. William Castel invited him to his house, together with a party of fifteen persons. About 6 o'clock, Swedenborg went out, and after a short interval returned to the company, quite pale and alarmed."

Remarkable enough, Bergquist tells another story even if he, too, refers to Kant: According to him, Kant claimed Swedenborg arrived Gothenburg a Sunday late in Sepember 1756, and was invited to a dinner with William Castel the same day. Bergquist corrects the arrival and dinner to July 29 1759, but doesn't correct Kant's Sunday. As source, Bergquist uses a letter from Kant to Miss Charlotte von Knoblach, written i 1768. According to Wilkinson, he (Kant) wrote the letter in 1763.

I have found a citation fram Kant's letter, in German^[4]. If the citation is correct, Kant wrote Swedenborg arrived Gothenburg on a Saturday, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The dinner and Swedenborg's visions aged place during the evening, and the couriers arrived Gothenurg two days later. In the citation, Kant doesn't mention any date. Perhaps Wilkinson and other writers said July 19 because the fire undoubtedly started that day.

Thanks for your efforts to keep Wikipedia vandalism free and for your response to my earlier message. In the Lyoness article, we have some problems with a clear vandalism issue, consisting of LyoNewMedia continuously removing essential parts from the article with no apparent reason, i.e. vandalising the article. There are also suspicions that LyoNewMedia is not independent of Lyoness and may therefore be too close to the subject to judge objectively. We'd be very grateful for your assistance in this matter. Thanks for your message Technopat, but please note that I have not been removing anything. My reverts are merely a consequence of LyoNewMedia's insistence to remove a valuable, important and influential opinion from the Wikipedia page on Lyoness, perhaps due to personal interests in Lyoness.

Dear Technopat,

Regarding Lyoness expert claim that LyoNewMedia may be vandalising the Lyoness article: on the talk page Lyoness expert asked for evidence for the claim that the linked blog is attacking and possibly defaming people. Therefore passages of the blog were posted on talk that proved the argument that attacking and possibly defamatory things are posted on the blog. Lyoness expert replied that posting random sentences of the blog does not prove anything. From then it went back and forth. Another problem with the source is the fact that it is a personal blog and therefore not a reliable source according to Wikipedia guidelines. It would be very much appreciated if you would act here as a neutral third person, evaluating the situation and checking both arguments - as you will see Technopat, we even stated the lines in the Wikipedia guidelines, proving our evidence. Thanks for your help!

Technopat - who are you and what is your background that you feel that you can edit the Akhal Teke page? I own 2 Akhal Tekes, am in touch with all the big Akhal Teke breeders and share a variety of Akhal Teke horse related Group pages on Facebook with them. We are aghast what we read in the Wikipedia article about Akhal Tekes - knowing that it is not true or distorted and are making an effort to correct it! I had my first Akhal Teke stallion Akhal Tekes 35 years ago and read everything I can about them ever since. Only because there is a dead archived website that mentions Genetic Diseases in Akhal Tekes doesn't make it true. So leave it alone! There is NO scientific proof for any predominance of Naked Foal Syndrome, Wobbler Syndrome - let alone Kissing Spine or the Ligament disease ---- ulruppelt ---- ulruppelt

Technopat, Thanks for your support of wikipedia's policies. FWIW, genetic disorders in purebred animal breeds are a major controversy in most of them, and the attitude you are seeing above is typical of the hostility that usually occurs when a breed's little problem becomes public. (For example, when SCID was first publicized in the Arabian horse back in the 1980s, people who disclosed their animals as carriers got all sorts of scary threats from other breeders.) We've had anon IP edits at miniature horse where people were clearly unhappy that we mention the risk of dwarfism in that breed. The lead crew at WP Equine worked on Appaloosa to bring it to FA, there were Appy breeders who were very unhappy that we mentioned the hereditary link between the leopard complex that makes them have a spotted coat and a type of blindness that sometimes crops up in the breed at a higher level than usual. (But it's cited to peer-reviewed research now) If we left it up to the "big breeders" in any breed, well, the Appy people used to claim that the blind Appies were given a bad deworming medication! Frankly, the registries are usually the biggest promoters of any coverup of genetic diseases in animals. The American Quarter Horse has such a problem with HERDA that almost 25% of all reining and cutting horses are now carriers. Montanabw^(talk) 23:22, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to both of you - Technopat and Montanabw - because I'm indeed not familiar with Wikipedia publishing rules. It seems to be a time consuming matter to get an understanding of the policies etc. After studying 11 years and 2 bachelor and a master degree I'm familiar with what is needed in science to proof something. So Wikipedia tends to rub me the wrong way in general but unfortunately it tends to be the first link that people see when they search for a topic. That is why I made an attempt to get involved again - and the request in one of the Akhal Teke Groups on Facebook that we should really try to right the wrong in the article. The problem with mentioning Genetic Diseases is that people start to think they are predominantly seen in a breed and not just seen in a couple of horses. Why mention it when it is rare? The human race is not defined by Tourette Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis or Huntington's disease. I understand that breeders are upset when potential clients are turning away because they are afraid of the Genetic Diseases in a breed. It is extremely cost intensive to breed and keep horses and in today's market almost impossible to recover the cost of breeding when selling a horse. A business that can't make a profit goes bankrupt and has to stop their business activity. That means that the horse breeds really become extinct. Is that what you want? I know for example that the best and largest Russian breeder who produces the most World Champions of the breed can only keep breeding the horses because of his agricultural activity of growing wheat and selling it. And I know quite a few who have lost their equity in their breeding operations. -----ulruppelt

::Well, that's exactly the same reasoning that the Arabian, Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Mini horse and every other breed I've run into say when their little genetic secrets are exposed. They are always "rare" diseases and "telling people about it will destroy the breed" and etc... I'm sorry that I am not in the least sympathetic. Almost all breeds have genetic issues, and breeders have a moral obligation to be honest. I suggest your industry starts supporting funding research to develop DNA carrier tests for these conditions so people can choose to avoid breeding known carriers to each other. I know from my own background with the genetic disease issues in another breed that you often still have to breed carriers to preserve genetic diversity, but if you avoid breeding two carriers of recessive conditions together, you can, with a "breed to replace" approach, eventually clear a bloodline of the problem (unless it's something like the Paints with lethal white syndrome or the leopard complex with the Appies, where the problem gene is also linked to a desired breed trait) Since the horse genome was sequenced, it is not nearly as expensive as it used to be. The Arabian people that bred the Egyptian lines started getting DNA samples gathered and gave a five figure grant to Cornell and had a test for Lavender foal syndrome in less than a year after the money was made available. The Quarter Horse industry doesn't seem to be hurt at all in spite of HYPP, HERDA, PSSM, DSLD, wobbler's, and god knows what else they've got over there. The Appies were in decline long before their blindness thing was verified as linked to the Lp gene, but their head in the sand "it's a wormer" denial made them look like fools. I also know (straight from a research vet who is in a position to know) there is also genetic stuff in the Peruvian Pasos and the Friesians, but can't find a whistleblower site to say so in the articles yet.
