Observed the following behavior from Sinebot, which appears to be a bug:

• User:67.127.56.46 made two edits to Talk:Furry fandom within about a minute of each other, [1] and [2].
• Sinebot signed the first but then erased the first sig when it signed the second. It looks as if Sinebot hadn't saved the first sig yet when it loaded the page to add the second sig, and didn't notice that it had gotten into an edit conflict with itself when it saved the second.

Slakr, I work on inputting soft data into our hardware to work on our computer here at home. Getting our computer to write what is read as an AI is done so that it can come up with the correct conclusion. These correct conclusions should be easier to accept. There is such an intense focus in creating these machines that it is easy to drop the concept of AI and rely instead on sinebot. No sine waves here, Slakr! The same is true with me, Slakr. I always use the fourt tides and this sinebot and keeps on putting "Preceding unsigned comment added by" and posting reminders on my talk page. I think I've discovered why Sinebot doesn't recognize your signature. It's because it isn't a real signature in the Wikipedia sense:

It doesn't contain a link to your userpage. Here's how it should look (usually a talk page link is included):

• Shannon Rose (Talk)

You need to change your sig under your preferences at the top of the page. If you check the box and include that code, you will get a nice, customized sig. If you uncheck the box, you'll get a nice default sig. Note that the links will not work on their "own" pages. They will work elsewhere. As Delicious has pointed out, ProcseeBot doesn't leave block templates, which tends to be at odds with encouraged practice. Even if I don't follow that practice constantly, it is probably a good idea for a bot to do so. Any chance that could be added? – Luna Santin (talk) 08:58, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I really need help and I will really appreciate it if you can help me. The following two articles, Youssef Chahine and Omar Sharif had some information missing from them and I added the information regarding their countries of origin (Egyptian born but Lebanese Christians by origin) , I also used reliable sources. And I added a wikiproject tag on them as well. And there is a user on both of these articles who keeps undoing my changes. What can I do although I am using reliable sources? This is the IP address of a proxy operated by an ISP in Kenya. It is not (or should not be!) an open proxy. I access it from 212.22.182.82 (fixed IP, in fact a premises NAT box).

Hey there! SineBot is an invaluable tool on Wikipedia, and has helped out many a user, including myself. As a user of Wikia, as well as Wikipedia, I can't help but notice the numerous times that SineBot could be helping out users on the Wikia I am quite fond of, Dragon Ball Wiki. Is there any chance that you would be willing to extend the SineBot mechanism to this Wikia? Or if this is too much work, then is there a way we can duplicate its services ourselves? Hello Slakr. Your tool at http://toolserver.org/~slakr/3rr.php has been immortalized by appearing in the header at WP:AN3, and I notice that some people do use it. It occurs to me that it might be expanded slightly (or another tool might be based on its behavior) so as to check some of the input data. This might reduce the incidence of reports that don't meet the criteria. Can you let me know if the source is available? Because at the time I added the tag, the article appeared to be an original synthesis used to summate to a neologism. That is, someone pulled together a bunch of sources from a bunch of people that vaguely hint at what the article defines as "marriage privatization." If you were to strip it to its core, it reads like a research paper or essay. The intro, alone, is a dead giveaway. Check out some of the comments on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Marriage_Privatization_Model, a similar article that was deleted for the same reason. I think the article is supported by the sources, from what I can tell, although there may be some (unintentional?) POV and subtle synthesis. The lead seems to be the worst of it, I will try to help. Pre-emptive block for the three revert rule? The closest thing I can think of is a block for general edit warring. Keep in mind that the 3RR is simply a stricter version of the edit warring policy, and it doesn't bestow any sort of inherent right upon someone to make three reverts to a page in 24 hours (with exception for vandalism, reverting banned users, etc).

If someone's had a history of edit warring, they don't need to violate the three-revert rule in order to be blocked for edit warring. That is, if they've already edit warred badly enough in the past, then continued edit warring is weighted more heavily—even if they don't violate the 3RR. It's presumed that an editor should know better than to edit war once they've been repeatedly been warned about and/or blocked for it. :P

Hmm... an off-the-top-of-my-head example. A few people frequently edit a certain article. One editor, John, every day or every few days will make an edit on that article that is repeatedly reverted by multiple people. John refuses to let himself be reverted, but is careful not to violate the three revert rule. Where is the "Controversies & Criticism" sections for Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, and so many other non conservatives listed at on each individual page as I can not locate them. If it isn't possible to view these missing "Controversies & Criticism" section blocks for others in a political limelight, I sense that somehow persons such as Mark Levin and other "conservatives" for instance have been unfairly singled out due to their political beliefs which is a violation under The United States Constitution.

Check out the methods for dispute resolution. That basically outlines the right ways to handle disputes. If a disagreement is simply between two editors, third opinion. First the Good way is to manually sign and date your posts. Here is an example. (Enclosed in nowiki markup.)

SineBot isn't a security mechanism, and I couldn't care less if people "get around it." The easiest way to "get around it" is to simply add {{NoAutosign}} to your user page. As for using transcluding templates in your signature, it's a huge violation of the signatures guideline and will probably end up with someone blocked if they were to do so. --slakr^\ talk / 16:42, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

So I'm making them here. Sine bot should also include an opt-in method of auto signing with a typical signature. This way, experienced users who suffer from forgetfulness can have sinebot write a normal signature such as the one on the end of this post, rather than the usual embarrassing one. Someone already gave him a warning about the 1RR on the article, but only after he accidentally violated it. No that's incorrect, games are considered software unless they are played in the web browser. Super Granny is a desktop based game albeit you can play it online at certain places it's still desktop based, so does not fall under CSD A7. Secondly, if you would like to go back to the CSD page and maybe read it over, it would help, because you're not using that criteria correctly at the moment. I would argue that adding crappy articles to mainspace, specifically engineering to be as bad as possible while remaining outside of CSD so that you can go around and act all condescending to admins when they delete them (without even considering IAR) is disruptive. The only real difference between what you're doing and purposely exploiting the wording of CSD to disrupt the project is your motive. If you wanted to see the real newbie experience, why didn't you wait for slakr to respond to your alt account before "breaking character"? But as you say, my opinion is worthless, so, whatever... Check out the bot policy. Basically, it's kind of like having an inferior clone that does all of the trivial work that you don't wanna keep doing yourself (e.g., signing comments or blocking the myriad of open proxies on the internet). In a way, they could all be called Bitch Slakr (I, II, III, and so on), but I wouldn't want them to be confused with being me during times when I'm bitchy; so, they have unique, user-friendly names instead. :P --slakr^\ talk / 10:29, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

At the moment, Sinebot does this: "If a particular person makes three or more unsigned comments in a 24 hour period, the bot will place a single Tilde warning on his/her talk page." It might be useful if it did this for editors posting to a talk page for the first time if they fail to sign, without waiting for them to make three in a 24 hour period (or to post the welcome template, which includes this guidance). In response to the speedy delete request to delete the page for User:Minitomaster, you said that the request was declined because this user exists. Well, s/he exists only in the sense that s/he has an account. But, when one looks at his/her contribs, one discovers that s/he has only ever edited his/her user and talk pages. This user has never made an edit to a single article on Wikipedia.

Since it does not satisfy WP:CSD#U2, is there a criterion in the CSD General section that would permit its deletion? Recently, there was a similar user page that another admin deleted, but I cannot recall the criterion applied. Might it have been WP:CSD#G1? Before you continue to advocate my pages deletion please consider the following:

The fact is it is a very noteworthy page for 3 simple reasons:

1. There is no other web site or business like it in the world.

2. The web site is #1 in the world on Google and Yahoo search engines. (Please search Google and Yahoo yourself for Police Bodyguards or Celebrity Police Bodyguards or on Yahoo just search Celebrity Bodyguard)

3. No business of it's type is currently covered on Wikipedia, I have searched Wikipedia for hours and this is the only company of it's type on Wikipedia.

Regardless of whether or not your son/father/whoever was killed in a war, that fact, alone, does not inherently bestow any sort of notability upon your biography. Furthermore, it is apparent that you might not be as fully aware of our policies and guidelines as you might believe. For instance, judging by your contributions list, it would appear that not only have you ignored the canvassing guideline by cross-posting the same message to several talk and user pages, you also seem to be confusing user pages with talk pages. Finally, your deleted article, The Police Bodyguard Group, appeared to not only lack in notability for groups, but also had a strong advertising tone to it.

I see there is a 90-second delay before SineBot applies a signature. This is too short for those of us who may not refresh our watchlists that frequently. In particular, by the time you've hovered over an edit or a diff to see whether it's useful, SineBot has already signed it and when you revert, the reversion is to the unsigned version rather than to the previous unvandalised version. I have no idea. Another admin was having trouble saving a page because tumblr is blacklisted but one blog that was on it (the one at node.*) was a reliable enough blog for whatever the article was (I'd like to say "Spook Country" or something). I added the regex because he didn't know how and because I didn't want him to screw it up. I put the admin's nickname/username in the comment on the log. If you wanna revert, you're free to, but please discuss it with him.

Also, as an FYI, I'm not going to start a discussion for something as trivial as a basic exception to an over-reaching blacklist entry. In cases of black and whitelists, the onus is squarely on the person removing the whitelisted regex if a blacklist entry is interfering with the building of the encyclopedia.

Recently I’ve been involved in a dispute in the article about Carmen Miranda. The issue in discussion was the fact that the article refers to this artist as “Portuguese-born Brazilian” and uses a source that does not support such expression. I presented many reliable sources that support that this artist had only Portuguese citizenship and not a Brazilian one. This artist has also born in Portugal. No further sources were presented to support her supposed “brazilian” citizenship. Some users joined together and stated that she is more Brazilian than Portuguese because she identifies herself with Brazil, thus the expression Portuguese-born Brazilian was correct. I think that this is a clear original research where they use sources that say she identified with Brazil to support she was Brazilian (a clear interpretation and personal opinion and theory). This goes against one of the three core policies of Wikipedia Wikipedia:No original research. I asked RfC where it ended in 5/1 consensus against me. Since no reliable sources were presented and the issue was not cleary addressed I moved to mediation, see here [9]. Mediation was accepted by 3 of those users but they were not open to mediate. I did a suggestion of compromise from my part where I suggested the expression “Portuguese-Brazilian” instead of “Portuguese” what I was defending, hopping that this discussion would end in an agreement. It cleary didn’t since the other part did not made any suggestion for resolving the discussion nor presented any compromise or showed interest in that. So Mediation was closed and it ended in (3/2) against me. Afterward Mediator of the discussion said that I showed no respect for the consensus (5/1) obtained in RfC and stated I was forum-shopping to get my way by having asked Mediation a thing that he suggested I did not had the right, see here [10]. Post this I would like to get some opinion in this situation. What should i do? Should i present this case to ArbCom? Dear Kurt,

On the wikipedia page for the instrument Duduk. It is protected and it doesn't say that it originated from Armenia, and it does. My proof is this. The duduk is one of the oldest double reed instruments in the world and dates back over 3,000 years. Variants of the duduk can be found in Armenia and the Caucasus. The roots of Armenian duduk music go back to the times of the Armenian king Tigran the Great (95–55 BC). Well, during the rule of King Tigran the Great. Armenia was a nation, and the countries of Turkey, or the seljuk Turks, and Azerbaijan were not a country and a people yet. Therefor, that is the proof that indeed the Armenians have created the Duduk and I would like to see that added to wikipedia. by that I mean that Wikipedia says that the Duduk is originated from Armenia and the Duduk wikipedia page is still protected from vandalism after that. Can you please do the edit for me?

Secondly, no matter what info you want to add, it needs to be verifiable in reliable sources. Unfortunately, we can't just take your word for it.

Caught a Sinebot false positive today. I think it's best to instruct Sinebot to avoid signing in the RFA area overall. I'm not aware of a clean way to opt out of every RFA page, unless perhaps the opt-out is part of the RFA template. I undid this edit today which was a signing that it shouldn't have done. I concede that an article on the Delta Chi Association (the alumni arm of the Chapter) is not necessary, but I would like to go forward with an article on the chapter. I have prepared a text that follows in this message. All sources for the material are cited. I note that Wikipedia carries many articles on specific clubs and societies in American universities. The "Dartmouth College Greek organizations" article provides subarticles on the individual Greek-letter chapters. "Eating club (Princeton University)" links to separate articles on the five bicker clubs and the five non-selective clubs in Princeton The secret honor societies of Cornell University have articles, i.e. "Sphinx Head" and "Quill and Dagger." There are individual articles on six of the eight final clubs at Harvard University. Yale University's societies, e.g. Skull and Bones" well are represented. In other words, I see ample precedent for an article on a specific college club. You will note that there is sufficient historical significance cited to warrant an article. Hey Slakr, would you implement a 5 or 10 minute delay in signing unsigned comments? I recently made a comment (an inane one, but still) hit enter to go to a new line, and the comment submitted because the cursor was stuck in the title box. I have a question about references for the Brian Choper page. There is a comment that the article is still an orphan. However, there are a numerous "Category" pages that link back to his page. I would like to know if these "count" for getting away from orphan status and if there is anything else I need to do on the article to improve it.
