When is an article's "creator" not its creator?

Interesting observation about your bot's behaviour...

I created the page Amidoxime purely as a redirect (#REDIRECT Oxime#Amidoximes). Someone *else* came along later and converted it into a "real" article. Someone else in turn nominated that for "speedy" deletion. Now, I agree that it shouldn't be a separate article, that's why *I* had only ever created it as a redirect (which IMHO doesn't really constitute an "article" in any meaningful sense).

However, because I created the first version of the page, I'm deemed the "creator" of the pointless article and not allowed to remove the speedy tag.

That's not really the end of the world, but I suspect it's a minor unforeseen corner case of your bot's behaviour that wasn't accounted for. Would be interested to hear your view, thanks.

Unfortunately this seems to be one of those cases where an article is incorrectly tagged for the deletion, and the bot replaces the tag. I think that it is important with CSD to get an impartial reviewer, which is what the bot achieves by keeping the tag in place until an administrator either deletes the page or declines the nomination. In this specific case, the CSD used was A10, which excludes pages which could be plausible redirects. Really the tagger should have checked the history and evaluated if the page could be a redirect, and the bot can only assume that they have done so and reached the conclusion that the page was not a plausible redirect. Meaning that the bot will continue placing the tag back, trusting the tagger to have properly checked the history and realised that the page was originally a redirect. But at the end of the day, there's no real harm done, as an administrator/impartial user will eventually turn up to properly review the deletion. - Kingpin¹³ (talk) 14:45, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
