Right now your user name appears in red, because there is not a user page (top left hand corner), which may not be a bad thing. When a link or user information is red, it means that there is not a page with that name yet.

If you would like to play around with designing your user page, you may want to check out the User page design center. I am assuming you mean other than within a paragraph of text. I use {{Quote|align=left, center or right|width=blank or a %|text=Quoted material. |author=Attribution |source=Reference }} See Template:Quote.
