IntroductionHello Professor Reagle! I am a fourth year communication studies major with minors in journalism and English. I am very excited about the opportunity to utilize online communities in a creative way in this course and fulfill my capstone before graduating this spring.Sarahpyrce (talk) 01:18, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello! I’m excited to be taking your Online Communities course to complete my minor in digital communication, just in time before I graduate. As the representative graphic design major of the class, I’m excited to learn more about how communities are designed and maintained in digital spaces. I noticed from your user page that you love history; I’m a fanatic of art history in particular. I’m curious if you’ve ever ventured down the art history rabbit hole before. Looking forward to this class! -Meg/Dunesdays (talk) 22:29, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Looking forward to meeting your dog soon :) - Taylorsydney (talk) 04:59, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor Reagle, I am a fifth year and will also be graduating this spring! I am a communication major and also minored in Spanish and Psychology. It is crazy to think I am taking my last few classes before I graduate! This class seems very interesting and especially relevant to a generation who spends so much time online and building/maintaining communities on different platforms. It is kind of funny to me that we are learning to be wikipedia editors when my whole education journey I was told that wikipedia was an unreliable source that we could not use. I like that we are learning more about the community on here and about the process of actually building an article. Looking forward to the rest of the semester! Hi Professor Reagle! I am looking forward to taking your class for the rest of this semester-- it is such a cool concept to create a piece of public information on Wikipedia for my capstone. I also love history (and probably would have majored in it if my parents had let me). Olivia (talk) 19:32, 19 January 2025 (UTC) Hi Professor! Writing from the library on this snowy morning. I love it when the snow falls from the trees when it's sunny out, it reminds me of glitter :). I am a fourth-year Communication Studies student graduating in May, and I have really enjoyed taking this class so far. Registering for Capstone classes was a battle; I watched the waitlist like a hawk! I am excited to dive deeper into our materials and assignments this semester.Bubblegum111 (talk) 17:37, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor! I'm a fourth year majoring in Communications and Media with a minor in Marketing and I'm super excited to dive into this course. I think it's so cool that my capstone will be a Wikipedia page and can't wait to show it off! I'm *hopefully* graduating in May and currently in the middle of applying to every single post grad position on the face of the Earth that looks interesting to me. Anyways, I'm looking forward to learn more with you and hopefully meet your dog soon! -Erinroddy (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 19:21, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor Reagle! I am Annie Hatsav and I am a fourth year English and Communications major. I'm graduating in May and needed a capstone course, but I am super excited to be in this class to learn more about Wikipedia and specific online communities. I have never been great at technology, and I am far from a computer science person. But I am genuinely looking forward to learning more about people online today. I also am super excited to meet your dog! I have always lived with cats but I did have one dog growing up and she was the best. So I would say I love cats and dogs equally! Hi Professor Reagle! I’m Clara Barsoum and I am a fourth year Political Science, Communication Studies, and Philosophy major. This class is one of the few I’m ending off my undergraduate years in and I’m excited to dive into the world of Online Communities! Although I went into this class with not many expectations and more of an open mind I’m pleasantly surprised about the intersection of communication and philosophy, social psychology, and economics we’re exploring. It’s also the first time being one this end of Wikipedia and finding out the physical and more social rules of the community. Creating a whole new topic on this site is a bit daunting to me right now but also contributing to a wealth of knowledge that anyone’s able to access seems super rewarding so I’m also looking forward to it. Hi Professor Reagle! I'm Julio Cruz, and I am a fourth-year Communication Studies and Political Science major with a minor in Japanese. I am also taking this class as it fulfills my capstone requirement but having read the syllabus and course description prior to registering I am very interested in the many things that will be converted within this class. I have not used Wikipedia too much but I have fostered close friendships with people I have met on platforms such as Twitch and Discord, who I have then gone on to meet in person. Some of my interests are video games such as Valorant and Pokemon and television shows like One Piece, Breaking Bad, and Wotakoi. I look forward to the rest of the semester and am excited to become more invested in Online Communities. jc21137 (talk) 11:11, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Professor Reagle! My name is Serena Turner. I am currently studying Communications with two minors: Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies and Black Feminist Studies. I will be graduating this semester and I am super excited to get my degree! I am looking forward to this class as online communities interest and often frustrate me. I am specifically excited to see what we will discuss about Reddit as I have begun to use the platform a lot recently and Twitter because I took a class on Black Twitter and Black Digital Culture that I just absolutely loved! Hi Professor Reagle! My name is Lily McDonald and I am a fourth-year at Northeastern. I'm majoring in Communications and minoring in Psychology and French. This is my last semester at Northeastern and I am very excited to be graduating this May! I am taking this class to fulfill my capstone requirement and because I enjoyed taking your Communication in a Digital Age class a few semesters back. I am excited for our class discussions and to learn more about the world of online communities. I am also looking forward to learning even more about the world of Wikipedia, because I did not know much going into this class. When I'm not in class (or doing schoolwork), I like cooking, reading, running, and crocheting. I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester! Bunchabananas (talk) 17:26, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello professor Reagle! I'm a 4th year communications and fine arts student here at Northeastern--I'm graduating in the spring (lets go final stretch!). I've been an avid enjoyer of online spaces, and growing up on the internet, I am no stranger to many an online community. Being involved in many fandoms, ranging from Star Wars to Danganronpa to Voltron and its revival (and many more I'm embarassed to admit LOL), it'll be interesting to take a look at the inner workings of how these fandoms grow and sustain themselves online. I for one can say that the things I've learned being a part of these communities and the friends I've gained are enduring! I also noticed that you're vegan! I tried out veganism for a very short period of time and would be interested in trying it again... got any interesting recipes or suggestions? Rachelevey (talk) 03:19, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Hello Professor Regale. I'm a fourth year communication and media studies major, and I'll be graduating this Spring. I've been on the internet since I was extremely young, almost too young. I grew up very shy, so I became well-versed in internet culture and speaking to people online. I've had a lot of different interests and phases because I spent so much time on the internet. I think being online for so long also made me a lot more understanding of people, and despite all of its flaws I absolutely adore the online space. I hope to learn even more in your class and new ways to interact with my communities. Despresseroni (talk) 18:23, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
SublimeText.Mediawiker and punctuationI don't know what that tool is, but it seems to work well. Bonus points if it can be programmed to remove spaces before references. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:05, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
