I'm Tassos from Greece and I'm looking on a possible way to create my artist profile as an option on wikipedia, i'm a newbie as u probably understand.

Could u help me with any suggestions about how can I submit a page and not get deleted?

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your interest in creating an article. However, as I mentioned on your talk page already, submitting an autobiography is almost certainly a bad idea. This is an encyclopedia, not a site for promoting yourself as an artist. We use various standards of notability; if you or your music don't meet them then it's not possible for them to be the subject of an article. Your first step should therefore to review the notability requirements to see if you meet them, and if so, to find references to reliable sources proving this. Since that didn't happen (and there appears to be 3 editors involved) I had to remove it from the list. Yes, the discussion is (was?) taking place on User talk:Leo711. But may I ask who the third editor is? Do you mean the one who added the citation to begin with? Hey, Psychonaut, I need your meticulousness and knowledge. In this article some persons called Mareklug and Bidgee keep adding newsflashes and Internet rumors to a section they call "Aftermath". I think the jugheads need to be taught a lesson in how things are done here. You know all the rules and tags and links and where to go for "third opinion". You have a chance to show people you can use your knowledge not only to irritate but also for something good and useful. I'll be waiting for help. Thanks in advance. Last year when we were having troubles with IEP I'd created User:SpacemanSpiff/CopyingFAQ to help out with those students, per their request. It wasn't used as they felt that they had stuff under control. I just remembered about it, so I've removed some IEP specific stuff and left it as something to help other similar users. Examples are focused towards an Indian audience. Feel free to use/modify etc, as I think it may help in your current endeavor. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 15:40, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, just need to leave you a note. In the past two days I have had to revert three warnings that you placed of impending speedy deletions of talkpages for advertising. In all of those three cases, an admin had blocked or warned the user and therefore were the original author of the talk page. The spammer came by afterwards and placed their advertising that you saw and tagged. The problem is, whatever automated tool you are using is then going and warning the blocking admin for the advertising and not the spammer. Since I don't know exactly how to get around it with whatever tool you use, can you try and double check when you are tagging user talks for spam that you aren't inadvertently warning someone else? Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything I could say there which isn't already mentioned by the other contributors, or which would improve your chances of getting the request confirmed. If you really want AP rights I suggest you try again once you've created 50 articles and have had time to prove your familiarity with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Those are the criteria normally considered for AP rights, so it's unlikely that you will be approved without meeting them. However, I don't really see that AP is all that important; I don't have it myself and don't feel disadvantaged in any way. —Psychonaut (talk) 14:54, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

I just stumbled on a piece of advice you gave an editor regarding how to write an article without closely paraphrasing.

OK, here's what I suggest: read several articles on the topic upon which you wish to write, commit the facts (not the words used to express them) to memory, and then wait for 24 hours. Then come to Wikipedia and, without consulting the original articles, write your own, completely original text expressing the facts you noted the previous day. After you have written this original text, retrieve the original articles, and for each fact you mentioned, add a reference to the appropriate articles.

You marked all of the posters I uploaded with the following {{di-disputed fair use rationale}} Question:-

1. With regard to WP:NFCC#1 how do you expect a movie poster be replaced with free media
2. With regard to WP:NFCC#2 I mean I can't upload a large sized image.Plus it is being used to illustrate the movie in the article.I mean it does all the things a poster can possible do so I don't get it how does it in any way not show Respect for commercial opportunities
3. Is the following file ok? -> File:Rannr.jpg
4. Regarding some other tags like the one on File:Mayya mayya.jpg how do you expect a screenshot of a song be depicted with the help of free media. The purpose of the image is the depict the song and not the actress.

Thanks for your message. I respond as follows:

1. If the image is not replaceable with a free version, then you need to say so and why. You can't just write "N/A". Check some other fair-use images for some sample explanations.
2. If the image is not being used in a way that infringes upon the owner's opportunity to exploit it for commercial purposes, then you need to say so and why. You can't just write "N/A". Check some other fair-use images for some sample explanations.
3. That fair-use rationale seems much improved; I certainly wouldn't dispute it. (It would help if you could identify the copyright holder by name rather than just saying "the distributor of the film, the publisher of the film or the graphic artist"; I'm satisfied that this is specific enough but it's possible others wouldn't be.)
4. Songs are purely audio media, so it would be unusual that a "screenshot" could serve to illustrate one. How does one take a "screenshot" of a song? Are you sure you didn't perhaps mean for the image to illustrate something else, such as a music video?
5. No, the templates on those page do not indicate the copyright holder of the image, which is required under our fair-use policies. The templates are also missing any explanation in the "Low resolution" field. Please refer to {{Non-free use rationale}} for further explanations and instructions.

By the way, it's not correct that I tagged all the posters you uploaded; I think I tagged only about half of them, as I ran out of time. Can I ask whether you intend to fix the problems with all of the images (including the untagged ones)? Let me first deal with the two hundred images that are tagged and then you may tag the rest of the images or else I'll be pressed for time which may lead to many images being deleted and possible blocking of my account. Also if you don't mind since you are an administrator, while I am just a newcomer in this whole situation, I would just like to bring your attention to one grievance I have in this whole mess.It's just that when I, a new user, go to Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard and under Step 3: Provide source and copyright information when I go to This is the official cover art of a work.,and select movie poster, nowhere does it ask for matter relating to Not replaceable with free media because WP:NFCC#1 or Respect for commercial opportunities WP:NFCC#2. I just wished, since you administrators think that those fields are of utmost importance and must be filed up, there was a section for these two points and were marked with a "red *" so that I wouldn't have to go through all this trouble and fix all these 300 400 files I have uploaded.Boseritwik (talk) July 18, 2012 15:16 (UTC)

I'm not an administrator. I'm just someone who occasionally tries to fix copyright problems that could get Wikipedia into legal trouble (or, if I can't fix them myself, tag them so that others can fix them). I agree that whatever interface you used to upload these files shouldn't have allowed required fields to remain empty. I'll check out that upload wizard and perhaps I can pass on a problem report to whoever is responsible for it. Mate, I dont think you have this right at all. This is not a copyright by all means. It is obvious that the website you put as being copyrighted actually copied wikipedia. Why would a website on MAPS OF INDIA make there own bio of a footballer. Plus everything in the article was sourced to different articles. The material from Maps of India predates the problematic text in the Wikipedia article by at least two years. It may be that Maps of India copied the information from somewhere else, but it's unlikely that it was from Wikipedia. FYI -- although I am retired from Wikipedia and will no longer contribute to its articles, I reserve the right to check on my user page from time to time, checking for vandalism and perhaps making occasional minor edits there (and only there). I no longer make even minor edits to articles. Although I've noticed a number of errors in physics-related articles recently, I've decided to just leave them in place and not try to correct them. You have blanked the section as you had thought it was copyright of http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=2673116, I believe you to be mistaken the information on the site was posted by a user of IndiaForums.com who just copied it from Wikipedia (look to the bottom of the specific post and it says "Edited by Visha_Dhami - 05 August 2012 at 6:34am" -The plot on wikipedia was there and contained the exact words before this date).

The article was clearly an early draft not yet suitable for the article space, but it is clear that

• The author had in mind expanding it into something that would have dealt with the topic named in the title; and
• The article you cite only tersely mentions that topic; and
• The author has some expertise on this topic, from which we should hope to benefit; and
• The author does not understand Wikipedia's conventions.

Concerning this last point, we should instruct him, and encourage him to revise his writings accordingly. We shouldn't be simply treating him as if he's here to disrupt things. Michael Hardy (talk) 03:38, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

He is disrupting things, but I'm not treating him as if he's doing so intentionally. I was indeed trying to "instruct and encourage" him (maybe you didn't see that message before you posted here?) but then his talk page access got revoked. Perhaps in its present form, yes. If you read the policy on user pages at Wikipedia:User pages you'll see that it's not permitted to maintain any sort of log recording activities unrelated to Wikipedia; this proscription would seem to cover the personal travel information you're maintaining there. If there's any way in which your travels are associated with your contributions to Wikipedia (for example, if you have contributed photos taken at the various places you've visited, or attended Wikipedia meet-ups there), then I'd suggest you add this information, as this would probably make your user page within the scope of our project.
