We added the tlh-latn and tlh-piqd codes for monolingual text, so that now you can add the titles to Shakepear’s works in the original Klingon (phab:T286239)
Mismatch Finder:
Failed uploads now no longer offer to download review results (phab:T335864)

An RfC is open regarding amending the paid-contribution disclosure policy to add the following text: Any administrator soliciting clients for paid Wikipedia-related consulting or advising services not covered by other paid-contribution rules must disclose all clients on their userpage.
Technical news
Administrators can now choose to add the user's user page to their watchlist when changing the usergroups for a user. This works both via Special:UserRights and via the API. (T272294)

Hi! I've run into a couple of copyvios recently, and recognize that my skills in requesting REVDELs etc are woefully lacking. The REVDEL screens just don't seem intuitive to me, probably because I'm just not "getting it" Can you point me to someplace where there is a tutorial or other information that would help me do this? I'm sure it will make going much smoother for you and other admins faced with cleaning up my (or rather, the plagiarists) work! Thanks! — Jacona (talk) 13:32, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
@Jacona I've looked at your most recent request - Woodville, Mississippi and I don't see much of an issue in what you've done. I see you're using User:Enterprisey/cv-revdel which helps you fill out {{Copyvio-revdel}}. I don't think there is a tutorial for it, so I'll try and explain it for you.
First and foremost, remove the offending material (OM). You won't believe how many times this gets forgotten.
Call up the "Request CV revdel" screen. That should take you to the history page.
On the history page select the revision in which the OM was added. From an admin's perspective, this is one of the two most important things, especially if it's an article with a long standing copyvio in it. Sometimes I see requests where this isn't done and I have to spend ages trying to find when the copyvio occurred, not always with success.
Then select the most recent revision in which the OM remains. In most cases this is going to be the revision immediately before the revision in which the OM was removed but it doesn't matter if you select the revision in which the OM was removed. This step isn't as important as identifying when the OM was added as it's reasonably obvious in most cases, especially where you are the person removing the OM. It can be a bit more difficult if you've spotted that OM was removed by someone else but revdel hadn't been requested at the time.
Then in the box at the top paste the url of the site the OM was copied from. From the admin perspective, this is the other most-important step, I need to establish that there is a copyvio and I can't do that without knowing the source. If there's more than one url just hit the "Add another" button to bring up another box.
Hit "Submit" (I wouldn't worry about the "Cclean" button)
You don't seem to be making the common errors I see and you do appear to have grasped the biggest concept, which is that it's all revisions since the OM was added, up to the point where the OM is removed, and not just the revision in which the OM was added.
If you've got it right then I see something like this:
with all the relevant revisions already selected. That saves me hunting down which revisions and let's me move onto checking that there is a copyvio to be dealt with. If I find that the wrong revisions have been added I can just check/uncheck as necessary before committing the revdel.
The only bit you missed on Woodville was the url but in this case as you'd mentioned it in the edit summary when you removed the OM I can easily pick it up. Nthep (talk) 14:35, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Other Noteworthy Stuff
There is a new update relative to the Wikidata Query Service scaling of the backend, that explains how the team will experiment with splitting the Wikidata Query Service graph and use federation for the queries that need access to all subgraphs.
Mismatch Finder tool improvements: In the next deployment scheduled for November 1, the tool will let you report mismatches on qualifiers in addition to the main part of a statement.
We are preparing for WikidataCon and the Data Modelling Days.
