Your sourcing is improved, but just to solid it up, I would suggest getting at least a few citations from published books. Have you checked out GoogleBooks? Seem to be several good citeable bits there. And gBooks you can instantly turn into a WP footnote using the tool at http://reftag.appspot.com MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:51, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

My which you mean "snippet view"? Yeah, those are annoying, but you can pick "Preview view only" in the menu at the top of search if you want to just look at the fuller views. But definitely there are some good pieces to cite there. I always check GoogleBooks first thing with any draft I write. Looking great so far! MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:45, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

MatthewVanitas, so how long should the article take to be reviewed? The first time I submitted it, it took less than a day, now its been pending for more than a day. Any reason why?

We have a huge backlog of like 1200 articles right now, some of which have been in queue as many as 20 days. We're amidst an October initiative to knock out the whole backlog (was 2100 articles before). But we don't follow the queue purely chronologically, and my self-given "role" is to glance at articles that just came out today. If they're decent at all I just leave them in queue, but if they have solvable issues that can be explained in seconds, I Decline them just so the editor has quick feedback, rather than take weeks just to be told "you need more footnotes". Don't fret it, WP:Wikipedia has no deadline. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:13, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

I just went ahead and approved it since it looks to pass basic muster just fine. A member of WP:MILHIST should be along shortly to assess the article on its Talk page. A few small comments:

• Do all the footnotes explicitly mention Combat 89? I didn't check them all, but some seemed to be more about the airframes. If the footnoted book/article does not mention Combat 89 explicitly, please remove it to avoid confusion. If you just want to explain the Cheetah, just wiklink to Cheetah (aircraft) and the reader can find what they need there. If it's a really good source/citation that adds info not available at Cheetah (aircraft), then go to the Cheetah article and add in that new and interesting fact. Every footnote on the Combat 89 page should explicitly mention the 89 itself, because the point of the footnote is to say "should you question this fact about 89C, here is where I obtained this fact".
• Minor thing, but is that photo of a Cheetah from 89C? Same as above, photos should be specific to the subject. It's fine to show Abraham Lincoln eating an apple at Abraham Lincoln, but it'd be misleading to post a 1938 photo of an apple and say "Lincoln loved apples" lest someone confuse that photo with Lincoln's apple. If it's just a generic Cheetah photo, let folks see that at the article Cheetah (aircraft). Now, what is very useful for mil-unit articles is to get an image of the crest and place that as the main image in the infobox. Those are copyright so can't go through Wikimedia Commons, but if you use the "Upload file/image" tool in your blue left margin (a few inches below the "Wikipedia globe" at top left of your screen"), it'll walk you through options and you can choose "non-free image", "Fair Use", "logo of an organisation", and "will only use on the subject's own page". And that gives us a way to legally use an image of their logo for this very specific and limited purpose of clarifying their article. I looked up "89 Combat" on GoogleImages, but I'm not clear if the unit insig is the marching lion one, or the jet with "8" and "9" to either side of it (this one). In whatever case, as I understand it you can legally nick one single image for the page and upload it thru WP:Fair Use.

Hope this has been a good experience for you. If you plan to do more about mil units, check in with the Talk page of WP:Wikiproject Military History, or if more SA articles, WP:WikiProject South Africa. Hope to see more from you; I'd suggest using the AFC process for a few more articles, but after that you should be familiar enough to just write and launch your own without advance review. Thanks so so much! The Cheetah photo is of a Cheetah D, which is the same type of aircraft operated by 89C. The footnotes on the Cheetah say that 89 operated them from "year" to "year" so facts can be checked there. I will try that method of getting a logo. 42 Squadron and their Bosboks were deployed to Angola in the 70s to the 80s to serve as artillery spotters and target markers using smoke rockets. During Operation Protea, at the battle of Xangongo, Captain Danie Laubscher of 42 Squadron won the Honoris Crux medal.^[1] Battle Group 20's attack on Xangongo was held up by ZU-23-2 AA guns. Two attacks by Mirage failed to destroy the site and a third attack by artillery was not successful either.^[2]: 130 Captain Laubschers smoke rockets had failed to narrow the Mirages attack so he decided to take matters into his own hands and dive bombed the target firing one smoke rocket directly into the gun position but the Mirages were out of ordinance and fuel.^[2]: 132 The ground attack had resumed by this time without any enemy ZU-23-2 fire.^[2]: 132 It was later found that his smoke rocket had hit the operator of the gun.^[2]: 132
