Psycho-Pass characters

Apparently, every character in Japanese refer to each other by their last name unless they are younger or have a nice relationship. For example, Akane Tsunemori is usually called Akane due to her being the youngest one in the series but in the third season which takes around 8 years later, she is simply referred as Tsunemori. Kogami was once friendlier to Nobuchika Ginoza so there are some episodes where he calls him Gino. Hope this makes sense.Tintor2 (talk) 22:15, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not really, Tintor2, because an encyclopedia article (unlike a fan site) can't assume that much familiarity with character name changes on the part of a reader. I got very confused because the same character (Akane Tsunemori) was sometimes called by her first name and other times by her last; I thought there were two separate characters. If you're thinking of GAN in the future, I think the character names need to be consistent for clarity. All the best, Miniapolis 23:45, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still confused. Is it okay to use first names? I mean in a formal way, real people's names tend to use their last names but what about also fictional people who are formal? I remember watching the tv series in English Akane always called Shinya "Mr. Kogami" even in the 2015 movie. Sorry for bothering.Tintor2 (talk) 15:34, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, Tintor2. In a plot summary of a fictional work, characters – especially young ones – are generally known by their first names in third person (when talking about them). Akane calls Shinya "Mr. Kogami" in second person (as a sign of respect, I think) when she talks to him in the story. Hope this helps. All the best, Miniapolis 15:55, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
