The Two Gorokhovs (redux)

Now that "Ivan Vladimirovich Gorokhov" has been deleted, the DAB page "Ivan Gorokhov" is no longer needed. How do I go about moving "Ivan Gorokhov (painter)" back to "Ivan Gorokhov", without losing the edit history? WQUlrich (talk) 19:26, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE progress chart

The chart's one day behind; the January 16 number just went in under January 15. I did take a look last night at around 01:00, and the number I remember for the total articles remaining was 1563. (I refreshed and it stayed the same.) For those left from December/January/February, I'm not nearly as sure: December was still at 3, I believe, and I think February was at 30, with January anywhere from 23 to 26. So somewhere in the mid- to upper 50s. Sorry I can't be of more help. With luck, there will be another way for you to find out the exact numbers. Archiving

Hello, Miniapolis -- I didn't realize until today that a new January 2017 archives page Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests/Archives/2017 had been started, so I added one there just now. I didn't know whether it was the date of the request or the date when the copy-edit is completed that determines in which year's archives the request is archived. I notice toward the end of the 2016 archives page Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests/Archives/2016 that there are a few that were requested in 2016 but completed in 2017. I put some of them there, but not all. Do you want me to move those to the 2017 archives page, or leave them there? Or, conversely, do you want to move requests made in 2016 (but completed in 2017) from the 2017 archives page to the end of the 2016 page? – Corinne (talk) 17:37, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Corinne. Requests are generally archived with the year they're completed, but I see no reason to move the 2017 completions in the 2016 archive; we have enough to do as it is :-). I believe that we have typically archived articles by the year in which the Request was completed, not the year it was requested, but that's a minor style choice. For the last couple of years, I have tidied up the annual archive page once all of the Requests submitted in that year have been completed. I'll do the 2016 page in a couple of weeks. Wikicology

I have just spent some time removing numerous errors of spelling, grammar, capitalisation, and, more significantly, chemical nomenclature from Nitrogen dioxide poisoning. Then I saw that the creator of the article, and of all the errors I corrected, was user:Wikicology, the subject of the recent arbcom case. This made me wonder – if the actual content was as poor as the grammar etc., I was probably wasting my time, the article ought to be deleted. I can't tell myself, I have no medical training. If on the other hand the content was worth saving, maybe I should look for other Wikicology creations and try to improve them.

It certainly seems to meet the general notability guideline, so it shouldn't be deleted. However, many people who are technically knowledgeable have trouble with spelling and grammar (and, like us, many folks who are proficient at rewriting lack technical knowledge :-)). The chemical nomenclature is different, though, and your corrections are especially important (and appreciated). I don't know Wikicology well by any means, but my impression is that he overreached himself academically here so the errors are not surprising. Sorry, but after getting swamped with copyediting requests I decided that the fairest thing to do was to stop accepting them (as I say at the top of this page).
