Fix for GOCE March 2014 driveI forgot to update the leaderboard when I had 21 articles copyedited instead of 20, so User:Baffle gab1978 was not included in the leaderboard when they should've been. Please reward them the barnstar accordingly, thanks :) -Newyorkadam (talk) 22:59, 1 April 2014 (UTC)Newyorkadam GOCE March drive wrapup
MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:57, 2 April 2014 (UTC) Deletion of Mike Wrathell entryDear Miniapolis, I was just about to add some more supporting material to the Mike Wrathell entry and see that it was just deleted. Please check to see if it was done before the 7 day time period. I had posted an objection, by the way and listed links. If possible please put it back up and give me a 24 hour time extension to provide supporting links and other material. My mom is in the hospital so I have not had time to work on the issue as much I normally would. Mr. Wrathell's art has been referenced in the Chicago Tribune and a few other sites of note, by the way. 1. http://366weirdmovies.com/king-of-pluto-2004/ 2. http://www.filmthreat.com/reviews/8136/ Thanks. But I will come back to this talk page. Sowff (talk) 14:23, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Sowff

The Signpost: 02 April 2014The run-up to the conference has seen the unfolding of two fractious threads on the Wikimedia public mailing list, both of which may serve as background for the last session at Berlin: "Future of the Wikimedia Conference".
This week, we visited with WikiProject Germany.
The annual Wikimedia Conference is about to start in Berlin, hosted by Wikimedia Germany, which won the bid to hold the event over three others. This will be the fifth time the chapter has hosted the Wikimedia Conference—it did so from 2009 to 2012, with attendance ranging from 100 to 180 Wikimedians. This year 160 people are expected at the four-day event, which is mainly for representatives of affiliated Wikimedia organisations. The conference has been built around two themes: Organisation, structures, and grants and Success and impact.
The Signpost's "Featured content" writers had a bit of fun this week.
The mysterious fate of MH370 still tops the list, but in all other respects our readership has retreated from the real world into its pop-cultural happy place: TV, movies, music, Reddit and Google Doodles all made an appearance.

Awards will be given out for all editors participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive. Pinging me [2] via Marshal's talk page for a passive-aggressive insult was a bit of a WP:DICKish move on your part. I apologise if you think I was being "annoying" or "irksome", for the record I was actually going to compliment the work you'd done in improving the article. I have to say you have better writing skills than I have, however, there are differences in British English where you made a mistake and I was trying to help by pointing it out.
or
is correct but
is wrong Probably an over-reaction on my part to revert you, for which I apologise, I guess we can all get a bit WP:DICKish at times. I note that you corrected folkright as well, so again maybe I should have been a little slower there with the undo button as my revert put back a mistake there. If you delve deeper into WP:JOBTITLES you will note Honorifics and styles of nobility should normally be capitalized, e.g. Her Majesty, His Holiness. (capitalised in British English FYI). As a handy reference [3]. A rather irritating quirk of British English is that titles such as Governor are usually capitalised since the Governor is the representative of the sovereign, equally it is Her Majesty's Government or simply Government. Please don't assume I'm looking over your shoulder being "picky" or trying to take over your copy editing role, I was genuinely trying to help. WCMemail 23:14, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Copyedit of Operation Swath-10Hi! Thank you very much for your time and effort volunteered in copyediting of the Operation Swath-10 article. I believe the article prose is much better off now than it was before. Cheers.--Tomobe03 (talk) 09:06, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Community review is open for the four applications in the second and final round of applications to the WMF's Funds Dissemination Committee for 2013–14. Three eligible organisations have applied for funding under the newly named "annual program grants": Wikimedia France, Wikimedia Norway, and the India-based Centre for Internet and Society, which last November was recognised as eligible to apply for FDC funding purposes.
This week, we interviewed the Law WikiProject.
"I remember laughing and talking and laughing and talking at Wikimania 2012. I took this picture of her that she used for a long while as a profile pic. Someone on Facebook said it looked 'skepchickal', which she loved."
Television has always been a topic of choice on this site, but it exploded this week. Fully six slots were devoted to television shows, as the final episode of How I Met Your Mother, one of the most popular Wikipedia searches of the last few years, coincided with the season finale of The Walking Dead and the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones. The number rises to 8 if movies released on video and new TV tech are are included.
Five article, five lists, and ten pictures were promoted to 'featured' status on the English Wikipedia last week.
Hyphenation of -ly adverbsPer WP:HYPHEN sub-subsection 3, bullet point 4, "A hyphen is not used after a standard -ly adverb (a newly available home, a wholly owned subsidiary)". I removed these from the Gatwick Airport article. Happy editing! Chris the speller yack 14:37, 16 April 2014 (UTC) Gatwick AirportThanks very much. Cloudbound (talk) 21:36, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

The annual Wikimedia Conference wound up last Sunday, 13 April—a four-day meeting costing several hundred thousand dollars, hosted in Berlin by Wikimedia Germany and attended by more than 100 Wikimedians.
Hey you—yeah you, the Wikipedian! Do you want to help a museum, a library, a university, or other organization explore ways to engage with Wikipedia? Great—you should offer your expertise as a Wikipedian in residence!
Cynthia Ashley-Nelson, who edited as "Cindamuse" on the Wikimedia projects, passed away in her sleep at the Wikimedia Conference in Berlin on 10 April.
This week, we visited WikiProject Catholicism.
After just over a month of deliberation, the Wikimania jury has selected Wikimedia Mexico's bid to host Wikimania 2015 in Mexico City, with a proposed date of 15–19 July.
If I were the kind of person who made snap judgments based on flimsy evidence, I'd say our readership is in a funk.
Fourteen articles, four lists, seven pictures, and one topic attained "featured" status on the English Wikipedia over the last two weeks.

need helpI am needing help with a situation where I have been doing a major copyedit at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ink_Master_(season_4) I have been putting up the GOCEinuse tag to prevent edit conflicts from other editors. Now today a user https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hullaballoo_Wolfowitz has called our GOCEinuse tag "a rag" Perhaps glance over the page history and you will see what has happened. I put in a request at page protection, but I cannot think of anything else to do. I really don't want my major copyediting work of or the past day or so to be trashed. The article looks much better than when I started. Do you know an admin that I could ask for help? I don't remember for sure if you are one or not. Thanks. Please try to help me save the work that has been done on the article. Thanks! Carriearchdale (talk) 03:25, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Miniapolis, Thanks for taking the time to look over this incident. I do not take the time to post anything on the HW talk after a month or so ago when I took him to ani. At that time I did follow what you call sop and tried to discuus a matter with him there. Every time I posted a note he reverted my post. The only one he did not revert was the notice for ani I posted there. And then he accused me of edit warring his talk page when I was trying to discuss a matter with him. After HW was warned back then he stayed away from me and my daily volunteer work here. For some reason yesterday he showed back up following from article to article I was working on reverting or undoing many of my edits. You are right about that one as being combative! Thanks for looking it over and Ty to Jonesy as well! I hope you all will have a most fabulous day!!! ciao!!! Carriearchdale (talk) 14:37, 28 April 2014 (UTC) ![]() You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
For the recordhw has been warned in the past regarding his interactions with me. Just a few of the statements hw is making around wikipedia: "Carrie Archdale" has a well-established track record of disruptive editing and retaliatory, groundless complaints. Indulging such behavior only promotes further disruption" [4] WRONG - hw has some weird obsessive interest in harassing me and stalking around from article to article and trying to kick up a big disturbance. hw is quite tendentious is his editing on wikipedia himself. See here: "put the notification template on the reported editors talk page, even though when I did only that before, I was accused of edit warring on the reported users talk page, and accused of repeatedly re-posting the same info on said page after the editor himself reverted the notices each time I placed another one. (placed as the personal attacks went on) As the personal attacks went on I posted on the offenders talk page templates to please stop a couple of times. You certainly can go back through the history and diffs at that talk page if you like, or for my and your convenience I kept a log of everything that I posted on that talk page." [5] I agree Miniapolis, it is more constructive to dispute another's edits on their talk page. Have a wonderful Tuesday! ciao!!! Carriearchdale (talk) 05:52, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
