Hey there! I see that you and User:MatthewUND have done some work on the Watford City, North Dakota article and several related to it. As a Watford City native, I say thanks! I'd only suggest one thing, which is to find a way to explain that the Oilers are not (or at least to my knowledge still are not, unless things have changed recently) part of the school but rather a private undertaking outside of the school. Other than that, great work. I wish I had the time to devote to my home state's storied history, but fortunately others are hard at work. Thanks again! It can be pretty frustrating having to deal with vandals. I have a couple thousand articles on my watch list so I revert many acts of vandalism every day. When you notice someone causing vandalism, go to their talk page and add one of the warning templates found at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. If you notice a persistent vandal, don't hesitate to leave a message at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Thank you for your work and creation of the North Dakota State Bison wrestling article. I noticed you hadn't been working on it lately and then realized I had eliminated your "head coach table" when I didn't really mean to. It's a nice table and connects the article to the other NDSU sports articles. I'd removed it once when I incorporated the info into the article and then did it again when it wasn't formatted right and I wasn't sure how to fix it. I didn't mean to keep removing your work and I don't want you to feel unwelcome editing since you do such a nice job on NDSU and North Dakota articles. Feel welcome to do any editing you'd like. I know that uploading images can be very confusing. If you find it too daunting, don't hesitate to simply ask me to do it for you. I'm very willing to help out if you can just point me to an image's location on the web.

Remember, there are really very few images that can be legally uploaded to Wikipedia. The only images that you would really want to be uploading are either images you've created yourself or images that fall into a few narrow categories of acceptable images for Wikipedia articles (including logos and works of the US Federal Government).

To upload, simply click on "Upload file" in the toolbox on the left side of the screen. From there, you need to specify the "Source filename" and the "Destination filename". The image you want to upload should already be saved on your computer. Click on "Browse" and select the image on your computer that you want to upload. Then, come up with a "Destination filename". If it confuses you too much, you can simply skip over the "Summary" section for now. The last thing you have to do is select an appropriate "License". For the sports team logo you mentioned, you would want to scroll down and select "Logo" as the license. Then, just click "Upload file" and wait for a while (generally a few seconds to a minute) for the uploading to complete.

Hey. I do not know you, but i see you are a member of North Dakota Wikiproject. Please, could you answer my question. I would like to point out that in 1992, Kent Conrad retired, and Byron Dorgan won. Dorgan is still in the Senate. And then Conrad ran and won a few years later. Wouldn't this make Dorgan senior senator from North Dakota??

News -Assessments- An intial round of assessments was recently done on all pages within the scope of WPND. These initial assessments...all 1,200+ of them...were done by MatthewUND. Matthew tried to generally follow the assessment guidelines found at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment. To see the assessment of any North Dakota page, simply go to the page's talk page and check the WPND banner. The assessment is presented in a color-coded field in the WPND banner. To change an assessment, edit the page and change the word after "class=" in the WPND banner. Add one of the following codes: Stub - for very small articles Start - for slightly longer, higher quality articles B - for high quality articles of an appropriate length List - for lists Cat - for categories Template - for templates NA - for pages that are not articles, templates, or categories Any WPND member should feel free to change any page's assessment. However, keep in mind that there are assessments (particularly GA for "Good Article" or FA for "Featured Article") which can't be applied without having gone through a nomination process. The women's material was moved to the logical location, North Dakota State Bison women's basketball. News ---North Dakota Portal--- Wikipedia now has a new portal devoted exclusively to the state of North Dakota. Check out Portal:North Dakota. WPND member NDCompuGeek has constructed the initial framework for the portal and it should now be easy to update the portal on a month-by-month basis. The portal will serve as a kind of "front door" for people using Wikipedia to learn more about North Dakota. It is a great starting point for branching out into the many aspects of the state. Each month a different article, picture, city, and biography will be showcased along with current news and happenings from around the state. The July version of the portal showcases the Mandan tribe, Governor John Hoeven, and the capital city of Bismarck. Visit the portal's talk page to share your opinions and ideas regarding the portal.

If what you're saying is you cut-and-paste, save, then rewrite in your own words, please don't do that. That results in a copyright violation in the page's history, which is still a copyright violation. Please either use preview only until the copyvio has been removed or compose in notepad.exe and move to WP when it's no longer a copyvio. Better still, write the article from scratch in your own words, so it won't end up as a paraphrase of someone else's work, as that might still be a copyvio. News ---Grand Forks now a Featured Article--- Grand Forks, North Dakota was recently designated as a Featured Article. This means that the article has gone through a nomination process in which it was reviewed and its quality was assessed. The fact that this article made it through the process shows that it is a high quality, well-written, well-sourced article. Currently, there are only a little over 1,500 Featured Articles in the almost two million articles on the English language Wikipedia. That means that only about one in 1,270 articles has been given this designation. The Grand Forks article is a great example to follow when working on other city articles, particularly those about North Dakota cities. We would be very well off if our other major city articles were similar to the Grand Forks article. Keep the Grand Forks article bookmarked and refer to its structure and style when you work on similar articles. ---New assessment parameter--- You're likely aware that all WPND articles now include a quality rating located on the article's talk page. Now, a new assessment parameter is being implemented. The importance rating aims to gauge the "importance" of the article's subject as it relates to North Dakota. As an example, Bismarck, North Dakota would not be considered as being very important in relation to the country or the world, but it is of top importance when considering just the state of North Dakota. The importance of each article is gauged as either Top, High, Mid, or Low. Since "importance" is a rather subjective term, some WPND members are trying to come up with a general set of guidelines. Check out this thread on the WPND talk page to see proposals and to share your own opinions of what is and isn't "important" in the state.

In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Good question, Leopold. Actually, no one really owns any of the textual content on Wikipedia. Check out Wikipedia:Copyrights. Text on Wikipedia falls under the GNU Free Documentation License. That articles states that: "[the license] gives readers the same rights to copy, redistribute and modify a work and requires all copies and derivatives to be available under the same license. Copies may also be sold commercially, but if produced in larger quantities (greater than 100) then the original document or source code must be made available to the work's recipient." In other words, when you add text to a Wikipedia article, it is basically being released in such a way that anybody can use it for any purpose they so desire. News ---Article deletions--- A series of deletions of North Dakota articles this past month is a good reminder that we need to be careful when creating new articles. Before creating any article, it is a good idea to 1) check out Wikipedia:Notability to see if the subject deserves an article and 2) make sure that worthwhile sources can be found pertaining to the subject and are effectively used to cite the article. Often, instead of simply creating a brand new stub article for a subject, it is a good idea to expand an existing article that in some way can address the subject. ---Peer reviews--- The University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University articles are currently up for peer review. Please take a moment to visit UND's peer review and NDSU's peer review. Read through the articles and then share your opinions of where the articles currently stand and how they might be improved. Peer review is often a step in the process of getting articles to Good Article or Featured Article status. As a WikiProject, we are very much in need of more GA or FA class articles.	Housekeeping ---Mandan demoted--- After a review, the Mandan tribe article is no longer considered Featured Article class. This is a reminder that even after articles have made it all the way to FA class, it is always possible for them to lose that designation. This also means that WPND is down to one FA class article.

I am writing to let you know about a "Categories for Discussion" vote that I initiated with respect to Category:North Dakota State Treasurers. I have proposed that the category should be renamed to Category:State treasurers of North Dakota in order to conform with the standard used in all other similarly-named categories. For examples of what I am talking about, see Category:State treasurers of the United States.
