As far as I can remember, when pronounced in English (e.g., in MTR station announcements), they are aspirated and released—I certainly remember they being pronounced released (not unreleased as in real Cantonese). But since I am no longer living in Hong Kong, I cannot easily double-check this part. (Or perhaps I can tune in to RTHK on the 'net and listen to the news for a few hours to verify.) I wonder if you really mean that right now they are pronounced unreleased when pronounced in English, or you just changed it by accident.—Gniw (Wing) 04:33, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Some points of view of mine might contradict with yours. I guess the definition of district boundary not just only in dividing the place for ease the election but also to eliminate the arguments of the naming of the place. I am agree with you that sometimes some boundaries are little bit nonsense, but the division methods that the government used can minimize the arguments as well as make the administration much easiler. Furthermore, the history is the good reference to determine the names of the places but it is not the only way to do so. For example, the MTR renamed part of the places, but it doesn't mean that the rename by the MTR company is wrong. Similar situation in district boundaries given by the government. Finally, sorry for any inconvenient caused and your great efforts in Wikipedia should be appreciated. Please keep it up. =) — Modotcom (Talk) 03:20, 22 April 2006 (UTC) I have not found a single reference online that refers to Brook Bernacchi as Brook Antony Bernacchi. While I do not doubt that this is his real middle name, I think it is more important to have the main article under the name for which he became known. This is quite common as you can see here, for example, in the article on George W. Bush. What do you think? My suggestion is to call the article Brook Bernacchi but keep his middle name in the article, similar to the article on President Bush. --Ghormax 20:31, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Standard CantoneseSorry... it looks like I clobbered some of the changes you made while I was converting everything into table format here. I noticed you removed 蚊 and converted the pronunciation to IPA. Concerning the former, it is accepted that 蚊 is indeed derived from the first syllable of money. It's listed at this site plus I remember seeing it in another source I can't recall at the moment. Concerning the latter, I don't have a strong preference what type of transcription is used for the pronunciation though most pages on Wikipedia appear to transcribe Cantonese in either Jyutping or Yale anyway (plus it seems most people interested in Cantonese don't read IPA as well as the other romanization schemes). —Umofomia 07:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Sheng Kung HuiHello, I see you've done some work on the article Sheng Kung Hui and I had a question (or two). First of all, while I was researching for Province 8 of ECUSA, I found that in Taiwan, the Episcopal diocese there is also known as Taiwan Sheng Kung Hui. Would it therefore make sense to move the current SKH article to Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui? There could then be a brief page at SKH which could provide a translation and point to HKSKH and TSKH. Speaking of translation, what is the best translation of Sheng Kung Hui? I've seen "Anglican Church" and "Episcopal Church", but I really don't know what is accurate. Also, could you confirm that Taiwan Sheng Kung Hui = 臺灣聖公會. Many thanks. --Wine Guy Talk 01:19, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

1st Preliminary meeting of Wikimedia Hong KongHousing estates in Hong KongI notice that you have created some articles, and are also removing some of the {prod} tags which I placed. For your information, a proposer is not obliged to notify the creator of an article's deletion, and lack of notification is not a valid reason for contesting a prod. You may be aware that housing estates are not generally regarded as notable in wikipedia as failing WP:N, and they are easily deleted for the reason that there are usually few "multiple, non-trivial, reliable published works" - in particular, news or research items available (other than government sources). I feel the vast majority of stubs you created will eventually be deleted because there will never be sufficient material of real encyclopaedic interest to fill an article. Kindly take a look at the changes I have made to List of public housing estates in Hong Kong and List of Home Ownership Scheme Courts in Hong Kong. I have incorporated much of the information which you have in the stubs you are interested in, and I hope this will be more useful to people who look up here. I have also moved the links to many of the photographs of public housing estate to a gallery on the main article, and hope you will not continue to oppose deletion of the pages of housing estates nominated. looking for quote: shift in trends in scienceGood day. This is unrelated to wikipedia. I was looking for some quote (?) in English, but I couldn't find it with google. It says that any shift in scientific (or mathematical) trend occurs through the new generation replacing the old-and-dying out one. It's best if you create that article before removing that text from the article. Badagnani (talk) 03:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC) If you know it's not the same thing, clearly you do know enough to begin a short article (and I think you're able to search in Google in the Chinese language to find sources). Removing it (and not making a discussion posting noting that an article needs to be made) wasn't the right thing to do. Lack of time isn't a good answer either, as it would probably take about 15 minutes to make a basic article. Badagnani (talk) 04:19, 30 January 2008 (UTC) It's always better to post such messages before simply removing something, as work needs to be done. Work has been done -- see Pork ball. Please fix as necessary. Badagnani (talk) 04:30, 30 January 2008 (UTC) ![]() Another editor has added the Chet LamHi, HenryLi! Thanks for your help! So if I understand correctly, on the Chet Lam article, Lam is his patronymic, right? And that's the name we should be using in the article, as in "Lam studied at... Lam grew up..." etc? Would you reply an the article's talk page? I just wanted to let you know that he reverted your revert again. His change stayed on the page for several days before I noticed it, but I've restored the text again. I wanted to let you know so that you can keep an eye on the page in case he does it again. —Umofomia (talk) 23:45, 1 March 2008 (UTC) Speedy deletion of Ch'ien Mu![]() A tag has been placed on Ch'ien Mu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 05:40, 25 January 2010 (UTC) SpellingHi, long ago you moved Convention of Chuanbi from the pinyin spelling ("Chuanbi") to the "historical term". The British originally spelt 穿鼻 as "Chuenpee", but I moved it back to the pinyin because I thought it was pronounced like that at the time, but now I have doubts. Do you know if the Cantonese and Mandarin accent pronounces the word 穿鼻 in the same way or is one closer to the British spelling than the other? I've read that much of the early romanisation was based on the Cantonese dialect and I'm wondering if this is the case here. Spellcast (talk) 07:16, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
