You removed my edit on his page about Sousa Mendes because I didn't add a source. This is wrong because it's a simple edit and the page of Aristides de Sousa Mendes also says "thousands" instead of 30000. Benji1207 (talk) 18:49, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
I removed your edits because they did not cite a reliable source. The edits were in violation of Wikipedia guidelines - #1, sources should not be cited in the edit summary but rather in the articles themselves, and #2, Wikipedia articles should not be used as sources per WP:CIRCULAR. Please see WP:RSP for a list of reliable sources. Gommeh(pls talk to me i need friends)18:51, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for treating the MFD with good grace; it sucks to have something you wrote deleted (it's happened to me too). Since you asked at the MFD...
Thanks for providing the link to me. Problem is, I asked for people's opinions on this article at least a handful of times (can't find the links). Anyone have any idea why this issue is only being brought up now? And where would I go to ask for help/collaboration on writing a humor article in the future?
On the first question - how to put this nicely. In general, getting people's help even for "core" Encyclopedia stuff like finding sources, copyediting, etc. is tricky. Wikipedia is a volunteer site. Nobody's beholden to anyone; if they provide support, it's because they enjoy helping people. But asking for help on humor is... not likely to get bites. Not that many people will consider this a worthwhile way to spend their time, and those that are may not be eager to help you. Humor, like art, is also intensely personal. A good art teacher won't try to force all their students to paint exactly like them; there are tons of styles that work, and it's more holistic feedback of "this result was good" and "this result was bad" that can be provided, but micromanaging the way to get there is hard. Same with comedy. People can't fix your jokes for you, they can just tell you what worked and what bombed.
In the specific case of that essay, the problem was something like - go read the subreddit Your Joke But Worse. In the age of social media, some people can't help themselves but pile on and retell the same joke over and over despite the original being right there. That's fine in real life where kids on the bus or coworkers at the bar share cool jokes they've heard without retelling the previous one, but the result is, uh, "cringe" on the Internet. You did Your Joke But Worse on Wikipedia:Please bite the newbies, just escalating it in a way that is actually less funny. Biting newbies is inherently silly (and accurate to the real essay Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers). Murdering newbies is not funny and sounds more twisted. Like, if a joke involves rating something zero out of a million, it doesn't become funny to say it's actually negative infinity out of a million.
As for why it was brought up? Beats me. Usually it's when someone actually notices. The Wikipedia space has a lot of Wild West bad content that goes unnoticed, so it's random when it does get noticed. The usual way it does get noticed is when the essay creator or someone else adds some links to it, others see the additions on their watchlist, and they look at the link and say "this is kinda crap."
More generally, I'd say to take it slow with trying to write humor. If you do write humor, keep it to userspace and try testing it out on real-life friends first. Good humor is often about expressing some true fact that others haven't noticed in a cutting way. Maybe after you get some more experience, you'll have such insights that are worth making some laughs on. SnowFire (talk) 05:51, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
Got it. Question though: if I do decide to write some more humor and think it may belong with the other humorous essays, do you think AFC could help? I'm not sure.
Another thing I wanted to ask is this: I've had problems in the past with other editors not contributing to articles I've created (in general). It's probably because they just don't know they're there to begin with. Obviously I can't force people to help out, but what are some good ways to increase the amount of people noticing these articles and wanting to help out? Gommeh➡️Talk to me17:35, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
No, AFC is not the place. The "A" stands for "articles", i.e. real encyclopedia articles. And AFC is overburdened enough with too many submissions, not enough reviewers.
More generally, I think this is the wrong attitude to have. It's not like Wikipedia has a dire shortage of humorous articles and desperately needs submissions of these. Quite the reverse, really, we have far too many random essays and humorous articles and such. As such, I wouldn't necessarily expect tons of help on this.
I don't seem to see any articles you've created from a quick look ( [1]), so can you offer an example? Maybe you expanded a redirect. In general, asking on an active Wikiproject is a good way to get some feedback on any articles you write. But note that I'm talking about main article space articles here. I don't think you'll get a positive response if you ask for help on essays, which again there is no shortage of and we don't need more of without a compelling reason. SnowFire (talk) 14:14, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
That is a good point. Unfortunately most of the stuff I'd really be interested in doing an article on is either not noteworthy enough or already has an article. But I'm always keeping my eye out for potential new articles in case I can create one. Gommeh➡️Talk to me14:21, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Rollback granted
Hi Gommeh. After reviewing your request, I have enabledrollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Loftyabyss19:46, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
Take care when reverting
This isn't a warning or anything and I made the same mistake, but your reverts at National Public School, Banashankari were restoring vandalism and BLP violations. We all need to make sure that we're checking what we're restoring without just seeing a chunk of text being removed and assuming it was disruptive. Thanks for your work fighting vandalism. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:59, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Got it - the IP should have said so in their edit summary if that's what they were doing though, because to me that looked like an unexplained content removal which is in itself vandalism/disruptive editing. Gommeh➡️Talk to me15:04, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
I think this was a situation where someone who wasn't an editor, likely a school staff member, saw the vandalism and didn't know about edit summaries or anything. I agree an edit summary would have been good, and like I said, I made the same mistake. We all make mistakes, and we can all improve. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:10, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Yeah. The article isn't a BLP either and I thought the "disgrace" that was added in quotes next to the name Grace could be a nickname the person uses as well. I see a few other editors were thrown off by this as well so your reasoning makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the heads up! Gommeh➡️Talk to me15:16, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
I don't mean to butt in, but I think if you proceed with the RfA then it's likely to be a point of concern that Gommeh has fewer than 5,000 edits, and has been nominated by an editor with barely 2K edits of their own. While there's no prohibition against nominating anyone with at least 500 edits, I think many of the RfA regulars are likely going to be skeptical that Gommeh is ready for adminship when they don't have more experience.
By all means, you're welcome to proceed regardless; I just had a bruising experience at RfA myself once upon a time, and wanted to sound a cautionary tone rather than risk seeing another editor go through a similar experience to my own. Best wishes! DonIago (talk) 16:19, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
@Faster than Thunder Please don't open another RFA for someone else like this - it's not how it works, and Floquenbeam already pointed that out to you on your talk page. For context Gommeh - FTT opened an RFA yesterday for someone else while making it clear they don't know how RFA works - I'd recommend not going down this route as it'll likely be a big headache (RFA is not a friendly place!) BugGhost🦗👻16:21, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Personally I think you shouldn't nominate anyone at all until you have a strong grasp on how WP:RFA works. Your heart is in the right place by telling people that they would be good admins, but RFA's are difficult week-long events that take a lot of planning and can cause a lot of stress. I recommend holding back on nominating anyone for now (but obviously feel free to keep complimenting editors you think are doing a good job!) BugGhost🦗👻16:29, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Admittedly I also had no idea how the process worked and was just about to go do some research on it. I have no problem with people nominating me for adminship if they think I've made good contributions to the site, even if the chances are slim. I never asked FTT to do that and they took the initiative, not me. Worst thing people can say is no, after all.
But if people don't think the RFA should be submitted at this time then I don't think it should be either. It can always be done again later. Gommeh➡️Talk to me17:23, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
Understood. Thank you @Faster than Thunder but I really don't think I'm ready for adminship now, but I (admittedly, slightly selfishly) think I'm on the right track to becoming one in the future. I just received rollback rights yesterday, which I think is enough of an indication that I'm doing the right thing. I have no plans to stop my efforts to undo harmful editing on Wikipedia any time soon. Your heart is in the right place though. Gommeh➡️Talk to me17:39, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
I am a Wikipedia editor who specializes in preventing edits that may violate Wikipedia's rules, as yours did. Your edit appeared to be gibberish and was not understandable English, so it was reverted. Gommeh➡️Talk to me18:42, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
King Ranch - "Largest Cattle Ranch" in the United States
The King Ranch is the largest ranch in the US by number of acres, but not by number of cattle. The Dutton Ranch in Wyoming is about the same size. The Deseret Cattle and Citrus, near St. Cloud FL has more cattle - with 42,500 cows and 3,500 bulls. Shipping away 35,000 calves each year. This is a well known and accepted fact in the cattle industry. On their own Website - the King Ranch states that they run 35,000 cows. (https://king-ranch.com/about-us/maps/#:~:text=Today%2C%20King%20Ranch%20sprawls%20across,ranches%20in%20the%20world%20today.) It is more correct to say that the King Ranch is the largest single ranch by acres, while Deseret Cattle and Citrus is the largest in terms of number of cattle. Both are "Cow/Calf" ranches. Feedlots often have 100's of thousands of cattle, but are a completely different operation and shouldn't be compared. 63.235.24.122 (talk) 20:02, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Understood, however this is really something that better fits the article's talk page than it does my own. Feel free to discuss it with editors there. Happy editing! Gommeh➡️Talk to me20:05, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
Please delete, I remade the category under a different name and made sure it is not empty. Tried to use template categorization but it didn't work. Gommeh➡️Talk to me19:19, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi there, Gommeh! Thanks for your feedback on suggested changes to GoDaddy Talk:GoDaddy#Quick updates for February 2025. I followed up on your suggestion to find a stronger source. Would you mind talking a look and letting me know what you think? I've taken over for the original editor, who has since left GoDaddy. I'm a consultant with WhiteHatWiki and have a COI. Thanks for your help! Brucemyboy1212 (talk) 14:29, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

OK, was not aware that had been deleted. I wasn't really active in 2018 when it was. Thank you for letting me know.
Thanks for blocking them. Along with a few other editors, I was getting really tired of their nonsense. Just out of curiosity, is there a policy on that? I looked in WP:NPA and Template:RPA since that was the place I figured warnings like the one you just gave me would be most likely to show up, but found nothing so thought it would be OK. Gommeh➡️Talk to me04:46, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
Well then I can't change the image then... you would know more than me about what this person is supposed to look like anyways. I'd suggest submitting an edit request on her page, maybe you'd have better luck there. Gommeh➡️Talk to me13:20, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
Thats okay! You need to have the source cited before you publish the edit though, otherwise it may get reverted. Especially if it's a BLP. »Gommeh19:25, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi there! I hope your day is going wonderfully. My name is Hankrey, and I'm a huge aviation enthusiast, particularly when it comes to airplanes! I actually got so into reading about the Boeing 707 earlier – browsing through some credible sources – that I decided to create a Wikipedia account so I could contribute to the page and correct some information I came across. I figured if I'm already researching, I might as well share what I've learned and help make sure the information is accurate for everyone else who's interested! --Hankrey1234 (talk) 01:49, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Zxcvbnm was:
This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs multiple published sources that are:
in-depth (not just passing mentions about the subject)
Make sure you add references that meet these criteria before resubmitting. Learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Not seeing anything that merits a separate article rather than being on a list of characters. GameRant doesn't count towards notability due to being a Valnet site. If you have three other pieces of significant coverage from reliable sources, let me know.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Nahida (Genshin Impact character) and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.

Greetings. I would like to ask what the recommended procedure is when encountering vandalism. Am I allowed to warn the user directly, or should I report the incident to an administrator instead?" Anya m2010 (talk) 19:06, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
You can warn the user directly. I recommend using Twinkle once you're familiar with the guidelines, since it helps automate the process. If you have any questions on how to use it to revert vandalism, please let me know. »Gommeh20:02, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
No but your reasoning makes sense. The wording I used is different, for one, and "recent changes patrollers" is a little bit broader in scope I think. »Gommeh23:24, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
I was thinking about adding this as a sub-category to it though as a way to focus on people who fight vandalism specifically and give them the recognition they deserve. »Gommeh23:27, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
You'd be surprised. Its more to do with the filters people use on RC. I have seen some people use it to monitor specifically good-faith edits. »Gommeh00:10, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Tornado outbreak of April 25–27, 1994
I made the edited to the injured count for the West Frankfort tornado. I found one article in the newspaper.com archives, but no sources exist online that I can find. I was the 1 person injured and the person quoterd in the article - and it was my mobile home destroyed, so I'm a witness to the event and there are not even 3,000 people living in that 1 mile stretch that is rural Southern Illinois. Maybe 30 people total? but not likely. I cannot imagine who put that there and how it was approved originally. I have a PDF of the news article I can provide, if that helps? But the 3,000 number is absolutely incorrect. I would rather that was deleted, if you cannot accept my edit. Just leave it at a mobile home destroyed and mine damaged. Olympiadunn (talk) 16:33, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
I'd still say you need to make a COI edit request, since your claim to be a direct victim of the tornado may have an impact on your ability to stick to a neutral point of view, even if you do have sources to back it up. When making the request, please provide links to the sources you want to be used. That's why we need editors who are uninvolved to make the final edit, and also why we have a conflict of interest edit policy for editors in situations like yours. »Gommeh16:45, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
this page, especially user, need check of many former/future edits (shocking grammar); i tried but also not native speaker; appreciated Cenderabird (talk) 04:12, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, I have tagged the page for cleanup for interested editors. I have also let the editor in question know that their English grammar may not be up to par. This editor has received several warnings for this in the past though, so it may be a case of WP:CIR. »Gommeh16:06, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
I'm not an expert on anything related to soccer, especially in a foreign country. You would maybe have better luck correcting factual errors by contacting someone involved in WP:FOOTBALL. If you're asking if there's any grammatical errors with your edits, I didn't catch any. »Gommeh13:30, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. By the way, you can add links to Wikipedia pages like this: [[Leonardo Neiva]] → Leonardo Neiva. Additionally, you can also go to the Guild of Copy Editors for things like this in the future.
The user pages you linked didn't have much content on them at all, so there was really nothing there to critique in the first place. And I couldn't find any grammatical or encyclopedic errors in the articles you mentioned either. »Gommeh (he/him)17:38, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
should i edit "fifty-third" to "53rd"? I know it doesn't really change anything but it feels better to me for some reason --Alphanumeral (talk) 09:40, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Not quite. "It" referring to the character can also be used as a pronoun. Stephen King capitalizes the I in "it" to make it clear that he's referring to Pennywise, so I did the same. Most written sources that I've seen do that as well in order to differentiate between "it" the pronoun and "It" the creature. The same is done with possessives in the book as well as in the captions for the movies, where you just take "its" and capitalize the I. It's a little weird, but I think it's warranted in this case.»Gommeh (he/him)19:38, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
I reverted once, as I think it's incorrect, but as you have read the book and I have not, and source fidelity is top, I shall not revert further. If it's how the author does it, with Its, maybe add a note somewhere?Halbared (talk) 19:44, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
I don't think a note is needed. An example from the book:
He felt his teeth catch again, more firmly this time. And there was a fainting sort of pain as It drove Its fangs into his own tongue. Boy, it was still pretty funny, though. Even in the dark, being hurled after Bill with only the tongue of this unspeakable monster left to connect him to his own world, even with the pain of Its poisonous fangs suffusing his mind like a red fog, it was pretty goddamned funny. Check it out, folks. You'll believe a disc jockey can fly.
That looks like poor editing on the publisher’s behalf, with the non-title pronoun 'It' also being capitalised. I just think having a note will prevent future editors from changing it and make your change stable.Halbared (talk) 20:06, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Must have been an accident, thanks for picking up on it since I didn't. But on the other hand I'm pretty sure the information I restored to that page is correct (albeit unsourced) based on what I know from watching the news... Not sure if it should have been removed in the first place. Anyway I'm too tired to go looking for sources now as it's getting late though, so imma undo my revert. »Gommeh (he/him)04:50, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
