Understandable, but another issue was you deleted the entire timeline of the band's history. Instead, you should have asked for help on how to add the new information. And @Nahida is right. »Gommeh (he/him)16:58, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. I wanted to share some updated and locally observed information regarding Daallo Airlines’ fleet. I’ve personally seen three active Boeing 737s operated by Daallo Airlines at Aden Adde International Airport (Mogadishu). These aircraft are currently involved in evacuation flights for Somali pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for Eid al-Adha. They’re clearly active and regularly operating. Additionally, Daallo now operates a De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400, which is a relatively recent addition to their fleet. It’s been visible at the airport and appears to be in use. I also came across a recent TikTok video that visually confirms the presence of multiple Daallo 737s at the airport. I’d be happy to share it as evidence if that helps support these observations. My goal is simply to help ensure the Wikipedia article reflects the current and verifiable status of Daallo Airlines. I understand the need for proper sourcing and am open to finding the best way to incorporate this information. Majid8097 (talk) 15:36, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Hey, I’ve updated the fleet section with the current aircraft Daallo is using — 5Y-FQB, 5Y-FQC, 5Y-KQB, and the Dash 8 (7Q-DAL). I’ve got all the sources ready (JetPhotos, Planespotters, Airfleets, and even a video of the water salute for 7Q-DAL), but I need help formatting the references properly into Wikipedia style. Could you help me with that part? Majid8097 (talk) 16:43, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Sure. The best way to do it is to go into the visual editor, and click the "Cite" button. Then, either paste a link and hit enter to automatically format the source correctly. If that doesn't work, you can go to the second tab ("Manual") and, once you've selected the type of source (book, news, website, etc) you can manually enter all the details yourself. Then hit Insert on the top right, and it'll format the source properly for you. »Gommeh (he/him)16:48, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the tips! I’ve got all the sources ready, just need your help to put them in the right format and add them properly with the right citations. I’m not super confident about getting the manual stuff exactly right, so if you could take the links I sent and add the references for the fleet update, that’d be perfect. Let me know if you want me to send them. Majid8097 (talk) 16:52, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
I see the issue now. Looks like the issue is the named references you tried to add. If you want to add a reference and give it a name for easier citing, when you first cite it you need to do something like this:
<ref name="NYT-Trump">{{Cite news |last=Baker |first=Peter |date=2025-06-03 |title=As Trump Says He’s Stamping Out Antisemitism, He Advances Similar Tropes |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/03/us/politics/trump-antisemitism.html |access-date=2025-06-03 |work=The New York Times |language=en-US |issn=0362-4331}}</ref>
Which produces:[1]. The <ref name="NYT-Trump"> before the beginning of {{Cite news}} is important as that's where you give your source a name. In other words, that's where you'd put KQB, FQB, etc. You'll have to do this using the source editor. »Gommeh (he/him)17:09, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for helping me refine the fleet section, your feedback really helped clean up the structure and citations. I ended up replacing Planespotters with Airfleets and Malta Aviation Outlook (a reliable and official aviation news Facebook page confirming the the recent acquisition of the dash 8 by Daallo Airlines). If you come across a better source for the Dash 8 let me know. Really appreciate your time on this! Majid8097 (talk) 18:18, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Hey man, really appreciate the help. I’ll make sure to double check with WP:RSP and go through the Aviation style guide too so it all lines up properly. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. You’ve made this way smoother. Majid8097 (talk) 19:07, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Hey Gomeh, hope you’re doing well! I’ve built most of the New Mogadishu International Airport (NMIA) page myself but would really appreciate your help to check if I’m on the right track with the formatting, sources, and style. Your Wikipedia editing experience would be invaluable to make sure it fits community standards. Let me know if you have some time to take a look. Majid8097 (talk) 19:19, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi, it's been a while. Here's the link to my draft where I've been working on the New Mogadishu International Airport https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Majid8097/sandbox. I also have the infobox section and an image included but the image got messed up because I deleted it after realizing it wasn’t compatible. I left the infobox image area uncleaned since I’m planning to find a suitable image later and link it there. I’d really appreciate your help. Majid8097 (talk) 12:27, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
Sure, go ahead and create it at Draft:New Mogadishu International Airport. Thanks! I’ll continue improving it from there. Majid8097 (talk) 17:46, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
Just so you know, NMIA already redirects to another airport (in Jamaica). You can't use that acronym to refer to the airport in Somalia you're writing about. I've rewritten the parts of the article that concern this but thought I should make sure you knew. »Gommeh (he/him)20:57, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It will be held from Monday June 16 - Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! ♦ Dr. Blofeld18:21, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
Hello I have something bothering me, there's this ip address/username that keeps adding fake information with the intension of using it to scam Cameroon GCE Board Students
Hello! This is Luiysia again. Hope everyone has been having a great summer! Here are the details for our July bimonthly meetup, which will be a Wiknic.
The meetup will start at Welles Park, in the Ravenswood neighborhood, at 2 PM on July 13.
Hyperlinks should generally only be inserted in the external links section near the bottom of the page. See H:LINK for details on how to do that.
Images are a little more complex, first you will need to upload the image at the file upload wizard. After you've gone through those steps, then what you'll need to do to insert the image into the article may vary slightly depending on whether or not the image is placed inside a template. See H:IMAGE for more details. »Gommeh (he/him)13:39, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for all your work here. Would you please fix misinformation on Pete Stauber’s page regarding mining near Ely? It should read that the bill he sponsored ends mining restrictions. (The purpose of his bill is to permanently roll back the restrictions put in place by the previous administration.)The omission of the word restriction completely changes the context and results in misinformation.
Thank you. 2600:387:B:7:0:0:0:78 (talk) 21:05, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi Gomeh, I noticed that the explanation I added before the infobox on the New Mogadishu International Airport article was removed, and I just wanted to understand the reasoning behind it so I can improve my future edits. The purpose of that section was to briefly introduce the airport and provide quick context before diving into the technical infobox and I tried to keep it in line with how similar articles start. If there were issues with tone, sourcing, or formatting, I’m happy to revise it accordingly. Thanks for your time and for helping maintain quality on the platform. Majid8097 (talk) 04:56, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. I just wanted to mention that I followed the same structure commonly seen in other airport articles where a brief explanation or overview is placed before the infobox. I understand you saw it as duplicate but my intent was to match that format and provide a clear starting point for readers, especially since the article is still developing. I’m happy to adjust or refine it if needed. So can we include it and eliminate the second explanation below the info box? Majid8097 (talk) 13:13, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi there, I've granted you the AFCH perm. Please add yourself to the backlog drive here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/June 2025 Backlog Drive/Participants. Since we're doing re-reviews, this is a great chance to get feedback on your earliest reviews. Just a warning before you get started: you said in your application that you mostly wanted to deal with obviously unsuitable drafts on companies, etc. That's great (there are loads of those) but make sure that you always check for notability and not just promo - that is, you shouldn't decline a draft solely because it's promotional unless you are also confident that it's notable and would be a suitable article if it weren't for the promo problem. Thanks for helping out! -- asilvering (talk) 16:43, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
Cool - so if a draft is promotional but the subject of the draft is notable, I should accept and tag the article as promotional? »Gommeh (he/him)17:12, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
That depends. If it's lightly promotional, such that it offends your wikipedian sensibilities but would probably be bewildering to the person who wrote the draft, accept-and-tag is probably the right call. If it's very promotional, no, you should decline it as promo. What you don't want to do is decline a draft on a non-notable topic for the promo reason only. You can add two decline reasons, so in that case you'd want to give both the ncorp decline and the adv decline. Basically, the reason for this is that we don't want to tell an editor "oh, you need to clean up this draft, it's too promo" and then have them spend hours of work on it only for us to say "jk, this company isn't notable and nothing you can do will make it suitable for a mainspace article". That's just unfair. -- asilvering (talk) 17:21, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
I saw your review of Draft:Downside Air Crash. Can you please help me because I don’t fully understand your declination. You state that “ This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources.” However SomersetLive, Friesche Courant, Somerset Guardian and Utrechtsche Courant are all (some former) established reliable independent sources. And all the content is from these source. What is wrong with these sources according to you? 95.98.65.177 (talk) 21:22, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
@95.98.65.177 Just to clarify, I felt that the draft didn't have enough reliable sources, not that the sources it did have were unreliable. Keep up the good work. Gommeh🎮03:51, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
June Backlog Drive is almost over!
Our pending drafts!
Hi! Thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation June Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 2000 drafts already. We have around 3000 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in 5 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to make this happen. A list of the pending drafts can be found at WP:AFCSORT, where you can select submissions in your area of interest. Thank you so much for your work so far, and happy reviewing! – DreamRimmer■01:31, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
The Blow Monkeys
I recentely made some changes to update the Blow Monkeys Wiki page. I am Robert the lead singer and songwriter. can you please reinstate my updates? 185.98.32.67 (talk) 12:23, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
I tried to update the Blow Monkeys page but the new info dissappeared..can you please reinstate the changes? I am the lead singer and songwriter of the group Bruce Hoare (talk) 12:33, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
I actually cannot, see WP:COI for more info. You're not supposed to edit about your employer (the band, in your case). If you feel a change needs to be made you can make a conflict of interest edit request on the article's talk page, and an uninvolved editor will review your requested changes. This is done to eliminate unintentional bias in articles per our guidelines on maintaining a neutral point of view. »Gommeh (he/him)12:50, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
Your thread has been archived
Hello Gommeh! The thread you created at the Teahouse, Jayhawk Collegiate League and Hap Dumont, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days.
I've been seeing you around more and more recently, so have a cookie, on me! And I noticed your new signature, very cool :).GoldRomean (talk) 00:40, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Lately, I've been seeing you post a lot at ANI and you seem to often be suggesting that editors who are mentioned receive a block or some sanction. That should not be the first response to a problem! We try to communicate with an editor to see if maybe education about policies is needed or maybe the editor is going to the wrong place looking for answers or is frustrated. While there are undeniably vandals and trolls who are just here to cause damage, I wish you would have a more neutral or optimistic attitude towards editors whose cases are brought to a noticeboard and help us look for solutions that can benefit the editor community and the project.
You also need to raise the bar for problems that should be brought to ANI, they should be "urgent or chronic, intractable behavioral problems". An editor that doesn't respond to talk page messages in a timely way is not an ANI problem. Every day, most active editors run into a disagreement with a fellow editor and 99.99% of the time, these cases shouldn't be brought to ANI. I do appreciate your participation on talk pages but I'd like to challenge you to try to come up with alternatives to blocking when you comment on a case. Are you up for it? LizRead!Talk!02:23, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Sure, and thanks for reaching out. I suppose the issue I'm dealing with is trying to figure out how best to deal with situations like the ones I post about. I do try and make sure people are aware of our guidelines and policies and give them a chance to explain things from their point of view. I generally only suggest sanctions when I think an editor is unable to contribute constructively (like if they don't notice they have messages on their talk page for instance and are making lots of GF unconstructive edits to an article), then that may be the only way to get them to realize there's an issue. I'm not the type of person who would resort to sanctions first and asks questions later. I'll generally try to make sure people are aware of our guidelines and help them understand them (like at User talk:VIR-1937) but I can agree that there's been times where I haven't been great at communicating that. I think I'll get better with time.
But I fear you may have misinterpreted me as having recommended a block or sanction a few times when I haven't done. If I think a block may be beneficial I'll say so (when the problem I think is serious enough) I may say so, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't support another, lesser sanction or intervention by the community.
Generally I just try to directly point out the guideline or rule a user is accused of breaking so they can read the relevant page/essay etc. So my thought process would be for example, "this is a NPOV issue I think, so let me link to WP:NPOV" so the editor can read it". And of course if they have a defense/counter-accusation/etc. I'll be fair and listen to them too.
Overall I try my best to point people in the right direction and give them a chance; I tell them where they went wrong as directly as I can. Having said all that I'm up for the challenge though. Gommeh🎮02:47, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Well, the fact that you took my message so well, without being defensive or angry, is a good sign. And I have just noticed you around ANI a lot lately and maybe some of those incidents were merged in my mind. I should also add that I am saying all of this because, as a new editor, I hung around ANI a great deal, offering lots of advice to editors who were actually more experienced than I was. Then, a year or two later, I had an RFA and, wow! my presence at ANI came up in a very negative way. I was seen as a "dramamonger". So for years I completely stayed away from both AN and ANI and it's only been in the past year or so that I've returned because we don't seem to have many admins patrolling the noticeboards these days.
The only advice I'd give you is that I noticed that you have started closing discussions. Be sure not to close them too early, make sure that all of the issues that have been brought up have been addressed and in your statement, be sure you put {{nac}} by your signature which appears as (non-admin closure). Non-admins can close discussions but it seems like regular editors like to know whether or not an admin or a non-admin has closed the discussion. If you ever want to move on to deletion discussions, I have more advice there but it doesn't seem to be an interest of yours. But how about we stay in touch more? LizRead!Talk!03:14, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Of course! I have started closing discussions and generally try to do what you said (even though at times I may forget and have to be reminded). Like in the one I most recently closed, the OP accepted the trout I gave them so I considered that to be case closed as they seemed to have learned from their mistake pretty soon after the discussion was started; at that time, every issue that I saw on that thread had been addressed properly in my opinion. Of course, discussion can always be re-opened if someone else disagrees or if it happens again.
Overall I think ANI and anti-vandalism are two of the things I do well at and rather enjoy doing (well, I could do without some of the drama but still). I do plan on occasionally doing XFD but as you said it's not a main priority of mine. I'm focusing more on AFC at the moment; accepting the articles I feel would qualify according to the guidelines and declining or (less often) rejecting the ones that don't. Having said that though, I admit my standards are quite high. Gommeh🎮03:40, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
(talk page roamer) a little bit of a nitpick if you will: you closed one of the threads saying [r]eopen if this continues even though the consensus was that LordDiscord wasn't GAMING the perms and instead their contributions were considered constructive, productive. So, why would someone re-open the thread if LD continued doing what they were doing, which is effectively nothing wrong? Unless you meant something else by "this"? I'm not sure. — DVRTed (Talk) 04:34, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
I meant if someone else had concerns they could feel free to start another thread (if they thought it necessary that is) and we could talk about it then. Perhaps that wasn't communicated well either. Gommeh🎮04:44, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Nah, cause then I'd potentially have to adjust it if I decided to change stuff around. By leaving it open, I don't have to worry about that. I like consistency; when I change the header it automatically updates across my entire user space. Only problem is, it prevents people from using the reply and edit buttons so I don't put it on my talk page or my guestbook. Gommeh🎮20:30, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello Gomeh, I’m reaching out about the New Mogadishu International Airport article because we’ve found an official logo from Somali government sites that would really enhance the page. Since you’ve been involved with the article, I thought you might want to help add it correctly and ensure proper referencing. I’d appreciate any advice or support you can offer. Thanks so much! Thanks so much for your help throughout this. Pointing me to the correct draft and guiding me through the process made a huge difference.
