User talk:Gidonb/Archive 2011In the header for the entry "Bavel, Netherlands", the final "l" in the name "Bavel" is missing. Please correct. Ton Janssens (talk) 21:52, 6 January 2011 (UTC) Ton Janssens.
Added a few things about the early history of Bavel. Ton Janssens (talk) 21:13, 7 January 2011 (UTC) Ton Janssens. Autopatrolled![]() Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:
EftelingPlease don't revert me again like you did in efteling, if you will, the category will become "red" again. 20:59, 10 March 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ingadres (talk • contribs)
Service award level![]() There has been a major revision of the the Service Awards: the edit requirements for the higher levels have been greatly reduced, to make them reasonably attainable. Herostratus (talk) 06:42, 24 March 2011 (UTC) MexicoHello. Mexico is a North American country, not a Central American country. All reliable sources define Central America as 7 nations: Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Belize. On the other hand there is a smaller region/group also called North America which doesn't mean the whole N. American continent. This is the mainstream view. Finally, UN "definitions" are not valid in terms that they were made specifically for statistic presentations and the UN clearly states that (see United Nations Geoscheme). It is very weird to me that you want to categorize Mexico as a CA country... AlexCovarrubias ( Talk? ) 23:58, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Joseph SerchukI'd like if you can translate יוסף סרצ'וק (Joseph Serchuk) from hebrew wiki to english. My english is not so good for write in encyclopedia. Thank you. ChangesHi, I don't see the point in removing the original Dutch names, my text seems much more informative to me. Also, neither Dutch nor English are my native languages but I am not sure « agency » is a proper translation for « korps ». In any case, since there is an article with the title Korps landelijke politiediensten, the link shouldn't be broken. Cheers, GL (talk) 11:34, 21 August 2011 (UTC) Thanks for Sungji_Hong expansion! Thanks for expanding the Sungji_Hong page that I started in 2008! I haven't logged on for a long time. Perhaps this will inspire my efforts a bit. Thanks again, Hilbertastronaut (talk) 18:53, 28 August 2011 (UTC) Dear Gidonb, I noticed that you improved and need some information on the pianist Jan Mulder article. I started that page and think that I can fill in the information you are missing! In order:
I believe that the easiest would be if you would restore the page to the version of March 28, and add the citations, references and link more pages to it. If it helps, I will do my best to link the most relevant articles to it. That way we can resolve the Orphan tag issue.
Ed
Hello Miller Music! Thank you for the additional information. I have deleted the information that you self-sourced and incorporated the rest. I strongly advise against rolling the article back for the following three reasons: [1] My edits are substantial improvements to the article and include additional information and references. It would be unjustifiable to undo these. [2] The article was basically a promotional text written for a promotional website. I have changed it into an encyclopedia article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. [3] There were well-established complaints on your talk page about the article being identical to your website. My edits have set these two apart, each text serving an entirely different purpose. Instead of looking back, I suggest looking ahead. For example:
gidonb (talk) 01:39, 4 September 2011 (UTC) Hi Gidonb, I added references to the article and some other important information but now you marked everything for 'speedy deletion'. I do not understand why. I addressed all your questions: The years of the albums aren't published as far as I know. (I'm sure I can find out). I referenced the biography from two sites. The symphony orchestra's are ad-hoc I believe. The International Award is not held by Jan Mulder. Could you please undo all the tags that were added? Thanks, Ed — Preceding unsigned comment added by Millermusicusa (talk • contribs) 21:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC) Miller Music, the article is not tagged for speedy deletion. The rest of the answer to your questions is in pillar 1 and 2 of the 5 pillars. I am quoting below. I do want to help you make this into a good article and appreciate your continued work. Regards, gidonb (talk) 00:00, 3 November 2011 (UTC) Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia. It incorporates elements of general and specialized encyclopedias, almanacs, and gazetteers. Wikipedia is not a soapbox, an advertising platform, a vanity press, an experiment in anarchy or democracy, an indiscriminate collection of information, or a web directory. Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view. We strive for articles that document and explain the major points of view in a balanced impartial manner. We try to avoid advocacy and we characterize information and issues rather than debate them. In some areas there may be just one well-recognized point of view; in other areas we describe multiple points of view, presenting each accurately and in context, and not presenting any point of view as "the truth" or "the best view". All articles must strive for verifiable accuracy: unreferenced material may be removed, so please provide references. Editors' personal experiences, interpretations, or opinions do not belong here. That means citing verifiable, authoritative sources, especially on controversial topics and when the subject is a living person. New Page Patrol survey
Category discussionsHi Gidonb, sorry I have to reply here as the discussion of Category:Architects who died in Nazi concentration camps has been closed. I appreciate your view that a comprehensive debate on inclusion criteria for such subcategories would be beneficial. But have a look at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2011 October 3#Category:Suicides by occupation how unmanageable a broad discussion of all professions at the same time can be. --Elekhh (talk) 04:53, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Clog (shoe)Hello Gidonb, Thanks. It is indeed better to leave it out. The text became too complicated to read for fun. Many tourists think the clogs they see in Amsterdam are only tourist made clogs. The shortened text should give enough guidance. Kind regards, Berkh (talk) 19:35, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Hahaha. Well, it is a good place for clogs ... I am surprised that the Wikipedia page about footwear used for centuries in the whole of Europe is only in its infancy (too). I think the text about Dutch clogs is enough informative and of good length. But something like that should be there of other countries too. Even when you look at interwiki´s I am surpised there is often "nothing" there. Well, clogs are apparently not something people want to be reminded of ... Kind regards, Berkh (talk) 20:14, 4 November 2011 (UTC) De Leuf and false accusationsI do not like it to be accused falsely about misusing the rollback function as you did. I just used the "undo"-button that everyone can use. If you do not see the difference, you better take a break... Night of the Big Wind talk 21:47, 5 November 2011 (UTC) |
