For some reason, I stopped leaving explanations a while back, partly because I wasn't sure anybody was reading them, but mostly out of laziness. I deleted "Wing and A Prayer" from the end of the film list, which looked like something someone had added (without even putting the year after it) without realizing it was already on the list, in chronological order: "(1944)". I double checked everywhere I could, to make sure there wasn't some other version of the movie somewhere that Morgan was in, but found nothing; so I deleted it. Was I wrong? If not, do I revert it back, or do you? Sorry for the trouble; I've not made myself as familiar with the way to do things I should, if I'm going to be making all these edits. HI,

I received 3 messages telling me to please don't add inappropriate material or promotional material to 3 different pages. I do not view my submissions as either of these and certainly not spam. These links are for songs that were written specifically about the person on the page and through the lens of that individual. While I can see how it may be perceived as a promotional tool, I think the relevance of subject matter contained in the specific musical compositions far out weighs any shameless self promoting implications.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make this happen. I feel strongly that viewers of these pages would appreciate the content.

I think the discussion there has run its course, but I would like to respond to your latest remark.

You don't seem to have quite gotten my point about "picking things up along the way". What I was trying to say is that while someone who already understands English can pick up policies and best practices as they contribute, they won't be able to learn English by doing vandalism patrol. Since teaching English is not in any way the purpose of Wikipedia that is hardly surprising. I know we all try to be nice to newbies, but when one runs into someone who just denies the shortcomings of their relative abilities it is actually doing a disservice, both to them and to the project, to just encourage them to keep going as they have been.

I've seen this exact same behavior before, more than once. A user will parrot back words or phrases out of your comments back to you, but in a way that doesn't make sense because they are pretending to know something they clearly do not. That is dishonest, unhelpful behavior and I won't pretend I don't see it just to avoid hurting the feelings of the dishonest unhelpful person. I suppose you see yourself as taking an ethical stand on this. Perhaps now you understand that I see my stance the same way.

I spoke the truth, without resorting to over-the-top hyperbole about a bad day for Wikipedia or likening a blunt but entirely truthful comment to physically harming someone. Beeblebrox (talk) 23:12, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the info at ARE. Rather than clog up that discussion, I'd like to ask you a few more questions, but not specific to the editor in question - just about account creation rights.

@Lightbreather: While working an account request, the requesting users IP and Email addresses are among the information on the interface, this is true with any user working a request, this is also why All users are required to be identified to the Wikimedia Foundation before any access is granted. Hi, Mlpearc. Thank you for replacing the file "Logo of the Humane Society International Australia.jpg" with a lower resolution version. In order that I can avoid making a similar mistake in future, is there a guideline of what the resolution should be? WP:NFCCP just says a generic comment "Low- rather than high-resolution/fidelity/bit rate is used" and I thought I had done that - but obviously I should have made it even lower. @Gronk Oz: I don't think there a hard set guideline as to size, a logo is almost always used in the infobox, which the default size is 250px, there's hardly a reason to have a logo bigger than that. Album art, posters, magazine covers, title cards and book covers also fall under this rule of thumb (at least for me) there's no reason to have these items any larger (all you should be trying to do is represent the item, not make a wall covering :P ) Any other image, even ones which need more detail ex. a music group performing on stage, you want to be able to see the faces of the members, but even with that I wouldn't go bigger than 500px (with any non-free image really) This is what I try to adhere to anyway. The London Lifestyle Awards is not a company or group name - it is the name of an Awards ceremony that takes place annually in London to celebrate 'the London Lifestyle'.

I have checked the wikipedia policy and we have not infringed this in any way - it would be the same if it were the BAFTAs and so forth.

Can you please re-think this decision.

Hi,

I am trying to change the name of the page from 'User:LLAwards' to 'London Lifestyle Awards' - it says the request has been rejected because it is promotional. This is not the case, the awards have been running for 5 years and there are plenty of references on the page to prove this. The page has been written in a totally objective way - in doing so adhearing to Wikipedia guidelines.

I do not understand why the page name cannot be London Lifestyle Awards - an annual event in its fifth year.

Please can you explain this to me.

The reason for the username change request from west end_kendall to district11_westend is not meant to be promotional or violate any rules. The "kendall" in the original username is actually incorrect. This page is about a region in Miami-Dade County. It is meant to be informative which is why the correct name is so important.

I notice you have added non-free reduce requests to some of my SVGs. They are scaleable SVGs which Wikipedia renders as 512px wide (they are technically all 0px wide). It is impossible to render them differently on Wikipedia, and the non-free rendering issue is with Wikipedia itself (perhaps they should render as 256px). Hello Mlpearc, I am responding to a message you sent me regarding an edit I did on your California Jam II page. My name is Bill Aylesworth and I am Lenny Stogel's stepson. I was just trying to correct and/or update some info. I know Sepp and knew Gary Perkins very well. I just want to make sure credit is being given where credit is due. The only 'real' producers of both Cal Jams were Lenny Stogel and Sandy Feldman. Don Branker was their 'employee'. In point of fact, the whole concept was Lenny's brainchild and he is the one who originally brought the idea to ABC, where Sandy Feldman worked. Sepp Donahower & Gary Perkins were the promoters of Cal Jam 1. I have the highest regard for all of them and nothing but the greatest respect. I would also like to thank you for maintaining this page. I still see Lenn's son Gregory Stogel on a regular basis and it's nice to know his father's legacy is being protected. In terms of your reversal of the edit as to his place of death, I didn't appreciate that burial location was the proper referent. What happens with someone who is cremated in one place, and the ashes scatted in another place? You may wish to reconsider. In addition, is it not noteworthy to mention Revere's cause of death, at least in a footnote, as was originally done? Your call throughout.

Hi, Let me make it clear that I am not acquainted with 109.76.145.13. However, I did notice your reversion of an edit made by that individual. Wikipedia does in fact have a rather nice article about Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She indeed was an innovative guitar player and her style was a seminal influence on the development of popular music. She is well known to musicians, musicologists and people interested in the art. Perhaps there are unstated reasons why she should not appear in the article's list of her pioneering peers. It appears to me the error made by 109.76.145.13 was failing to use doubled brackets to link to the intended WP biographical article. Instead single brackets were used, that may say something in itself about the editor.

Shortly after you reverted this edit, you ran across something similar in Fender Stratocaster. There someone with a quite different IP made a curiously similar edit along with corresponding error in regard to surf guitarist Hank Marvin. I personally don't know much about Marvin's impact on surf style guitar. Perhaps that edit deserves a bit of further study.

I would like to know why did you revert my edit in the Minecraft page. Are you a Minecraft player and are jealous of what I edited? @WJBscribe: Oh boy, :P I've thought of it many times. There are a few things I feel comfortable and confident in my abilities ie Username areas, Moving files to commons and some PERM areas. I would like to help at Un-block and maybe OTRS, but I haven't felt up to snuff on my editing as a whole of late ie. having to go back and fix stuff because of a hasty edit, to be honest I don't think I could pass one atm. It's written as "Panayiotou" elsewhere in the article. I changed it for consistency. Hi,

This is regarding Ronnie James Dio article. I made a change from "Italian American" to "American" because that's the correct nationality. "Italian American" would indicate that he had both citizenshipis which he had not. He was born in the U.S. so he is an American. Having Italian parents that immigrated to the U.S. does NOT give him automatically Italian citizenship (I should know). If someone wants to indicate his descent then that is indicated by saying "of _____ descent", which has no meaning. Him being born in the U.S. I don't have to "cite" anything to prove that he was an American. But saying that he was "Italian American" is indication that he had both nationalities in which case that should be cited... and it is not. So unless there is a citation that he has also an Italian citizenship he is an American.

On a side note, all the people from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil etc. that there are articles on Wikipedia about should be changed to whatever country their ancestors came from and not just when it comes to Americans, and which I don't see it being done.
