Holiday World pageGood morning - I saw a tweet that the Holiday World & Splashin' Safari page may be deleted. What can be done to remedy this? I am communications director for the park and have kept my distance from the page, as I understand companies should not edit "their" page. That said, I'm a former (old-school) journalist and would be happy to help provide sources plus clean up any errors and edit back the overly detailed information. Thank you, Paula Werne Director of Communications Holiday World & Splashin' Safari

New Pages updateHey FlightTime/Archive 10 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on. On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :). On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:33, 5 May 2012 (UTC) About my changes to Led Zeppelin.I was under the impression that associated acts refers to bands that feature any member of the band in question in it. That's why I put those associated acts in there. I guess I'm wrong?? And I added Bonham to the picture caption because he's actually in the picture, just like Plant and Page. Why did you revert that? Velvet Revolver editI merely changed something that was messy (a name was written twice for no reason), do not accuse me of vandalism when I have done nothing wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MillerCrosses (talk • contribs) 13:31, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage prototype releasedHey Mlpearc! We've finally finished the NPT prototype and deployed it on enwiki. We'll be holding an office hours session on the 16th at 21:00 in #wikimedia-office to show it off, get feedback and plot future developments - hope to see you there! New Page Triage/New Pages FeedHey all :). A notification that the prototype for the New Pages Feed is now live on enwiki! We had to briefly take it down after an unfortunate bug started showing up, but it's now live and we will continue developing it on-site. The page can be found at Special:NewPagesFeed. Please, please, please test it and tell us what you think! Note that as a prototype it will inevitably have bugs - if you find one not already mentioned at the talkpage, bring it up and I'm happy to carry it through to the devs. The same is true of any additions you can think of to the software, or any questions you might have - let me know and I'll respond. Missed on a technicalityHi Mlpearc. I just saw the note about the CU and OS appointments and the additional note about Oversighting tests. It looks like you were selected as an Oversighter, but then didn't get it because the tools are not completely independent. That's a bummer, but I'd like to offer my congratulations anyway as it seems the committee and !voters had faith in you. And since I'm here, I'd also like to thank you for helping users at WP:ACC. That's very generous of you. Kind regards. 64.40.57.81 (talk) 07:58, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

If you have no objections, I will ask an admin to move them back; otherwise, I will bring them to requested moves. —innotata 21:43, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
RFA / Good luck, and a minor suggestionHi Mlpearc, I was very happy to finally get the chance to put my support down on your RFA. Let's hope it is a positive and straightforward experience for you. On a separate note, when I came here to leave this message, the formatting for the part of this page that I'm currently typing on seems to be wonky - I'm using a "big screen" computer right now, and I still had to scroll across to find the right border. Heaven only knows what it would look like on the smaller screens I usually work with. Perhaps some fine tuning is in order? Risker (talk) 23:41, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
RFA / Re. My RfAThank you for your participation at my RfA. I appreciate your sentiments. Just as a side note, though — and I'm sorry if I come across as rude for posting here. I'm not sure if you've ever seen me around, but I've been editing Wikipedia now for over five years (more than 80% of that time under this account), I've amassed over 3400 edits (meager by comparison to most administrator candidates), and I'm very familiar with what an administrator does. I've also participated in numerous RfAs before (including your current RfA, where I have voiced support for your acquiring adminship). I'm not sure if you thought I was a newcomer to Wikipedia or that I have very little clue as to what adminship entails, but it seems as if that's the impression you'd gotten from reading through my RfA. I don't mean to badger you, but I just wanted to clear things up in case you were unfamiliar with me prior. In any case, I appreciate your interest in my candidacy, and good luck with yours. =) Master&Expert (Talk) 06:26, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Andy Manson (luthier).jpg![]() Thanks for uploading File:Andy Manson (luthier).jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself. If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ryan Vesey 16:09, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

New Pages newsletterHey all :) A couple of new things. First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p. On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right. It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). We'll be holding two office hours sessions to discuss the tool and improvements to it; the first is at 19:00 UTC on 14 August, and the second at 23:00 on the 15th. Both will be in #wikimedia-office as always. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 15:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC) RFA / A friendly offerHello, I opposed your RfA based, at least in part, on the shortcomings I see with Don Branker. I would not say that my opposition is strong - as I said, I think that you have a lot to offer to the encyclopedia. If you become an administrator now, I wish you well and look forward to collaborating with you in a friendly fashion. If you don't make it this time, I look forward to supporting another RfA in maybe six months time. Your willingness to take seriously the concerns of those who oppose in good faith speaks well for you. I would like to offer you a peace offering: I offer to work with you to improve the article on Don Branker, to make sure that it has good quality references and is written reasonably well. What say you? I noticed on the user page for your significant other that you created an "81" image that indicates to me you are probably interested in motorcycles. I've written three motorcycle-related articles lately, as a result of reconnecting with an old friend who is a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Let me know what you think: Dudley Perkins (motorcyclist) | Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra Classic | Jeffrey Bleustein Take care. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:24, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
RFA on holdHello, in view of the persuasive arguments made by each side and the marginal vote totals, I've placed your RfA on hold pending a bureaucrat discussion (linked from the top of the RfA). Hopefully, we'll be able to get this sorted out in a reasonable prompt fashion, and I appreciate your patience. Regards, Pakaran 19:07, 11 August 2012 (UTC) No problem. Thank you for the poke and your "but I'm of course willing to be persuaded otherwise" fairness. Mlpearc (powwow) 19:12, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I supported and nothing would have changed my mind. However, RfA is something of a lottery and if I were a 'crat I would probably have no option but to close this very close call as not successful. Take solace that with 1,500 or so admins and probably more than double that number of failed attempts, there have only ever been SIX previous 'crat chats to decide on a consensus - so let's hope your #7 will be a lucky number for the next attempt. Do take the opposers' comments on board, address them, and do consider trying again in about 6 months - I might even nominate you myself :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kudpung (talk • contribs) 08:24, August 12, 2012
RFA / Your RfAHi, just wanted to let you know that I went to your RfA a minute ago to support you, but it has been closed pending discussion. I'm sorry I missed it. Best of luck with it. SlimVirgin (talk)
RFA / Just wanted to say thanksHi Mlpearc. I just stopped by to thank you for your support of our project. I have always found you to be polite, helpful and courteous and I'm thankful for your participation in our project. And I just wanted to remind you that sometimes the community can be more critical than it should be. Thanks again for everything you've done for the community. Best regards. 64.40.54.58 (talk) 11:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
RFA closedThis RfA now clearly does not show a consensus to promote, however it's quite clear that you're very close to the "line" that the community has in mind, and I see no reason why you wouldn't be successful if you take a few months, consider concerns of opposes (particular regarding treatment of new editors), and then run again. I do regret the delay in closure, and hope that, whether you decide to start another RfA, you continue participation in the project. Pakaran 11:16, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
RFAHi Apologies for not getting back to you on the question you raised about my notes - unfortunately I had to go away unexpectedly and so was unable to respond. Indeed, as delirious says, it was only a matter of the edits being to the article itself and not to the infobox, which was what your edit summary stated. As I said in my comments, the automated systems need some tweaking in regard to edit summaries, in many cases enough options are not given in the default summaries, or one small click to change a notice or edit in TW or AWB causes massive changes in the automated edit summaries they place. I realise it is disheartening to get these sort of pettinesses during an RFA and, as you rightly pointed out, these are the sort of matters that should have been brought up in editor reviews rather than here, giving ample chance for one to correct any issues and produce a good few months of edits showing something that was mentioned was either incorrect or had been addressed. Something can be said for the ineffectiveness of editor reviews, as I am sure you are aware almost anyone can review another editor, and it is not often that multiple reviews are submitted on each review. Perhaps that is something that needs pushing forwards, if we are to have effective admins, good candidates, such as yourself, will fall over petty and small-minded obstacles such as these at RFA - matters which can easily be surmounted if one is aware of them in the first place. Once again, apologies for not replying to you on the RFA page, and
