ReferencesHi. In this edit you seemed to suggest that other editors should "count the number of floors in the photograph" (to somehow verify that the building has 18 floors) rather than relying on the otherwise seemingly reliable references that include a number of newspapers and architectural digests. On the basis of this edit summary I might recommend that you review the project's norms about favouring reliable third-party resources over personal research/"guessing". Similarly, in this edit you "bumped up" the floor-count on 3 separate entries. Without explanation. And without consideration to the references which supported/support the existing content. In fear of seeming blunt, what are you doing? What is prompting these changes? Guliolopez (talk) 00:41, 24 September 2017 (UTC) Hi! In Ireland it seems to be the norm to count floors on buildings as ground, first, second, third and so on. However, the rest of the world counts the ground floor as the first floor (e.g. the fifth floor in Ireland would be the sixth floor in the US). If you look at The Elysian in person or at any picture, there is clearly 18 floors and not 17 as many say. 17 may have become the accepted amount due to people saying the eighteenth story is, in Ireland, the seventeenth floor. In many cases it would even be called seventeen floors over ground floor. However, it is clearly eighteen separate floors. The same can be said for Google Docks. I do agree I was very rushed with my editing and should have cited properly, and I apologise for that. As you can probably tell I am new to editing Wikipedia so I am still working out what is acceptable and what isn't. Although as of late I have decided to just leave the editing to the more experienced editors (my initial aim of editing was to just improve the look of older, neglected pages), but I still really do appreciate when I am corrected on what I have done wrong (please don't fear being blunt, I prefer your honesty) :) --DylanGLC2017 (talk) 21:30, 24 September 2017 (UTC) Ireland populationsWith this edit, that has been reverted, you changed the population statistics but did not provide any sources for them, such as links to CSO documents. So where did they come from? Stating these came from other articles is not good enough, we do not use wikipedia as a reliable source, they have to be external sources. In fact there are sources for the existing statistics but your edit just deleted them. We may well need to update the stats in the Ireland article but they must be verified by at least one reliable source. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 23:02, 24 September 2017 (UTC) Images etcHello again. A couple of notes based on a recent series of edits on Cork (city) and a few related articles:
(Also, FYI, "principle" is a noun. Meaning a law or standard or doctine. "Principal" is an adjective. Meaning dominant or first or main.) Bye. Guliolopez (talk) 17:53, 27 June 2021 (UTC) |
