Have started a series of edits designed to upgrade/improve the article. In answer to your comment the band satisfies criteria 1 (has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works); 4 (has toured nationally and internationally); 6 (has releases on a major label or major independent label); and 7 (is prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city) of WP:MUSIC. In summary, I've proposed pretty much putting it as a branch from your user page so that it can be further worked on and polished up. It's typically a good alternative to merely erasing an article outright, especially when there's potential for there to be a viable article.

Thanks for your comments on the delete page. This is one of the first pages I have ever added to Wikipedia and I am a bit confused. I have had a look at notability, verifiability, reliable sources, and biographies on living persons but I still don't understand why this will be deleted. The article has a lot of offline and online sources and Ms. Fuller is quite known as an arts model in Ireland, so I am not sure what else to add to avoid deletion. I'm seeing some controversy. General rule I've seen is that, if an article in WP:AFD somewhere clearly (to the viewer, at any rate) is something that is more easily handled in WP:CSD, then it's fine to tag it with one of the many {{db}} tags for later disposal. However, I see three things happening: 1) the article is speedied and the AFD is closed, 2) The CSD tag is removed to allow the article through AFD (sometimes understandable, as this process also allows for future {{db-repost}} tags to be used if necessary), or 3) somebody claims it's policy. Vandalism removals of the db tags is not counted here, as this doesn't enter into the picture.

In the case of 2, like I said, I kind of understand this sometimes - there are cases where it's felt the requirement of a G4 speedy will be necessary, but even that I see is a fine line - is it not possible to close a AFD as speedy, then if it reposts, G4 the article later?

As for 3, that's simple: is there really such a policy in Wikipedia at this time? I bring this up owing to this comment, which came up some time ago (and was just me with a case of boldness), as well as the occasional note from people who seem to believe that this is actual policy. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 05:58, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

If (ideally more than one editor in the AfD) feels that an article can be speedied, then it's not uncommon for someone to tag the article with the appropriate criteria; if an administrator agrees, then they'll close the AfD as well. If the administrator does not agree (generally because they feel it doesn't meet the criteria) they'll remove the speedy and will usually note the removal at the AfD. A G4 speedy cannot apply to any article that has not previously gone through an AfD. G4 only applies to recreated articles, where the recreated article is exactly or substantially the same as the discussed and deleted version. As for 3), I'm not sure what's being claimed as policy from your question, but in the link you provide, you had re-added a speedy tag after a speedy deletion for that same reason had already been declined. I don't believe there is any particular policy regarding this, however re-adding declined speedy templates intentionally can be seen as disruptive. Hope this helps. I have the original June 30, 1963 "Annual Report" of Louis Lesser Enterprises. Mr. Lesser is accused of being a "hoax". He is the man Donald Trump called "The Legend". I don't know if you've seen but the creator of the article is clearly having a laugh now. "believe it or not, [he] met Trump when Trump was in the bathroom of a restaurant unzipping another old man's pants, and pulling out the old man's penis. Lesser said, "Dont say it like that, it makes me sound like I'm queer." The old man was Trump's 94 year old father, and Lesser was 83. Hazir, that is a story Louis Lesser told me. It is a true story, but on the AFD page, I did twist it into a humourous story. When I told it as a joke, Louis Lesser got mad. He did not get mad that I made it funny. he got mad that I made Lou lesser sound bad, not Donald Trump (shows Lesser is a bit self centered, eh?) But Louis Lesser told the story as being that Donald Trump was an honorable man who cared for his aging father, unlike most Americans, who stick their parents in assisted living and steal all their money. I am the one who made the story sound funny, not Louis Lesser, but I did NOT write this in the article, just on the AFD page. You left out the part about how Trump ended up buying the Taj majal, and another Atlantic City property, from Louis Lesser, as a result of the dinner. Dennishte2, I am writing this here so as not to embarass you. I called Louis Lesser. He described in detail flying BOTH Ferdinand AND Imelda Marcos to Hawaii, while Ferdinand was alive. Lesser owned Hawaii hotels, but they did not stay in Lesser's hotel. But Lesser described that he helped put on the funeral. EVERYTHING Lesser has told me has turned out to be true, no matter how weird. I checked, and even on Wikipedia, it verifies Mr. Lesser's story, that Marcos was interred in Oahu, Hawaii. Maybe his body got moved. Louis Lesser says he does not know. Please check out the Wikipeida article on Marcos, and please apologize for calling me and Mr. Lesser liars. Wikipedia verfies what Louis Lesser told me - "The Marcos family and their associates went into exile in Hawaii, USA and were later indicted for embezzlement in the United States. Marcos died in Honolulu on September 28, 1989, of kidney, heart and lung ailments. He was interred in a private mausoleum at Byodo-In Temple on the island of Oahu". This is fro the Wikipedia Ferdinand Marcos article. Maybe you have in your mind that something is wrong, and can not see beyond that, but please take back calling Louis Lesser a liar. He is not, and EVERY story he has told me has checked out, unless the Wikipedia artoicle is wrong, but it is a very old article. Please reconsider, and instead of stomping on my article, which was in construction, while I did the sources, maybe you can help improve it with sources, rather than calling me names. Rather than apologize for calling me a "fraud" and a "Hoax", and all the other names people are calling me, read some of the hundreds of articles on Lesser in Google news archives, and help write the article, and make it better. You tagged Tarbabe for speedy deletion as a test page, but IMO it is not a test page, but a (rather poor) article about a probably non-notable subject. I don't see tha tit fits any of the WP:CSD. Surely your replacement reason of "Does not appear to really explain anything, but is not nonsense" is not a valid speedy deletion reason. I see you removed a prod notice from Tarbabe with the edit summary "Removed prod, it's already in speedy". I am well aware that it is not common practice for an article to have proposals for two different deletion mechanism in existence at once, but it is sometimes useful to do so, and there is, so far as I am aware, no policy or guideline which forbids or even discourages doing so. Perhaps the commonest reason for this is that an article has been nominated by prod or AfD, and an editor thinks that it is in fact suitable for speedy deletion. If the article really does warrant speedy deletion then to give up the possibility of doing so just because some other editor has made a less appropriate choice would be unreasonable, whereas to remove a prod notice risks at best delaying the start of the seven days period if the speedy is declined, and at worst leaving an unsuitable article undeleted, if the original tagger does not notice the detagging and come back. In the case of an AfD the possibility of removing it does not even arise. The present case, where it was the speedy tag that came first, is less clear cut. However, it seems to me that in a situation where a speedy deletion proposal seems very doubtful there is no good reason to object to leaving it there in case it succeeds, but also placing a prod in case it fails. I have done this from time to time, and nobody has ever objected before.

If you still think that the presence of a speedy deletion tag is an adequate reason to remove a prod notice then that's fine: there is room for differences of opinion. However, I thought it might be helpful to let you know that this was done because of a rational decision, not by error. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:11, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for tagging What are pokemon just now, but after you tag a page for speedy deletion you should copy to the author's talk page the warning which is generated for you on the speedy template, towards the bottom. Otherwise the newbie author doesn't know what's happened, thinks he pressed the wrong button, and often just puts the article in again. Also, if it's a new contributor who has never had a Welcome template, it's useful to give one before the speedy warning - it makes it less BITEy, and gives useful links that may help him do better next time. {{subst:firstarticle|<article name>}} is a good one. The article TYLAR JACKSON was blanked by its author after being tagged for speedy deletion. You then reverted the blanking, and warned the user about removal of speedy deletion tag removal. While it is normally considered unacceptable for the author of a page to remove a speedy deletion tag from it, an exception is made in the case of completely blanking a page to which nobody else has made any significant contribution. This is taken as indicating that the author wants the page deleted, and it can then be tagged for speedy deletion with {{db-blanked}}. Very often new users who don't know how Wikipedia works see an article they have created tagged for deletion, accept that the article should be deleted, and remove the content, thinking that is deleting it. It is much better in such a case not to bite the newcomer by giving them a warning that they have done something wrong by trying to comply with the deletion notice. What's going on? The speedy tag is the large red box? Did I get rid of it? If so, very sorry. I was just trying to notify the author. I thought that was appropriate. All I've done is tagged the article for deletion and placed a deletion notice on the author's talk page. I'm also confused. But we're on the same page: this is clearly a problem.

On a second look I see it is to be published as an E-book, so you could make a case for it counting as "web content" within A7... I think thats' stretching it a bit; anyway, I've PRODded it now. I think the author was planning a big marketing campaign - he had confused the article Mark Twain like anything by altering template {{twain}} to this version to be about his books! Hi Dennis, I just put a note on the article talk page about compass labs. Since this is my first attempt at an article, I am unfamiliar with the process and thus with how to establish the noteworthiness of them. I do think the process of bringing meaning from all the 'chatter' that goes on in the online world is very meaningful to everyone. While that company is now using it in a commercial sense, I think that the underlying technology is usable to get 'almost instant' information that regular systems (like surveys etc.) cannot get - really knowing how people feel about different subjects from movie stars to global warming. How are they really planning to vote... Hi Dennis, since Volareweb.com destinations contains more than ten airline destinations, it is perfectly eligible as a separate article from the main one. You can see Alitalia Express destinations, Lufthansa Italia destinations, and other similar articles, they are all the same. In other words thought follows intention for an intelligent response. When we intend both the “ends” and “means” are intelligent unlike when we desire or crave. Cravings and desire limits the designing intelligence as we are boxed. From this logic is derived the idea of "Intent Leadership" and presently i am sharing the same with industry leaders, academia and media to upgrade from thought leadership. Intent crystalizes to become a thought so it is grosser than intent and therefore has lesser designing intelligence. This is in tune to the Law of Fine.

I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of DHA Suffa University, Karachi. While your tagging was technically correct (the article was unduly promotional, and thus fell under G11, in cases where a subject is definitely notable, it is much better to just stub the article down to 1 or 2 sentences. Hi Dennis -- I'm brand new to wikipedia so trying to learn the ropes. I wrote my first entry today on one company and am in the middle of working on another one (I enjoy following the tech scene). I'd like to make sure I don't make the same mistakes -- and can correct those I made in the first. The first entry was Mulu (Company), to which you added a peacock tag. I tried to be careful to add a ref for each sentence but couldn't see where you had made suggestions for more sourcing. Is there a way to see which parts of the entry need more references?

Hi, Roxy. Thanks for asking about this.

The biggest thing with puffery isn't so much the type of verbiage with no attribution, it's a little bit more the verbiage unto itself. The sort of gray area, as it were, is more along the lines of being prepared to back up any such "peacockish" terms if it is, indeed, justifiable - so it's not to say that it's strictly forbidden, it's more that it detracts from any sort of neutral point of view if it can't be attributed, and tends to sound promotional when they are used.

The link that I provided to the guideline in our manual of style will have some ideas - and even gives a "good idea/bad idea" suggestion using musician Bob Dylan as an example of how to work with this. I encourage you to peruse this, and keep a link to it for when you do pen new articles in the future. (We have a LOT of guidelines, and it can be difficult to keep them all in mind. =) )

The user you left a message for about the page Holy Musical B@man! (musical) earlier seems to be quite new and I feel looking at his/her edits that they are not quite sure how things always work here, or what you mean. However, as a frequent editor of StarKid Productions related articles, I've taken on board what you have said.

Firstly, I've edited the article to give it most of the information was was originally missing. I've left the summary there at the moment, but only because I'm useless at them, and it makes it consistent with the other four musicals' articles.

In terms of notability, this is something which I always hate here at Wikipedia because you've got some wacky rules which I never understand properly. Indeed, all of the StarKid musicals have only ever been performed once. Yeah, this may make you think they're not notable, but it's just the way they do it. They have one set of shows, then they put it up on YouTube for the world to see. However, those videos are very popular on the internet, so dispute only having one run, I believe they are notable.

I am going to get some more sources on there anyway, but as you can expect, I'm currently cleaning up messes from enthusiastic new users who want to add everything about this new musical to Wikipedia with little thought.

I'm not going to deny that WP:N is kind of wacky, but these rules are pretty well in place for many reasons - particularly for those articles that clearly don't fall into any sort of gray area. Like me, for instance. =) (Hey, if somebody puts an article about me up, I'm going to nominate it in WP:AFD, because, well, I'm not notable. I'm just some guy going to school.)

To note, I did a quick Google check to see if there was coverage, and I've found it there - so there are signs of notability. No doubt it doesn't have to be in meatspace ONLY to get that. It was the reason I didn't put it out for deletion in the first place.

Year of birth is uncertain for the old chap; we only know that he was breathing air by the year 1467, so I used the common dab style in such cases. Try browsing through Category:Members of the pre-1707 Parliament of England you'll see plenty of examples. This of course leaves the younger Palmes as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which may or may not be appropriate. I'm perfectly happy to let sleeping dogs and dead MPs lie.
