Hi @Davey2010:, I saw you reverted my changes and I wonder why? Perhaps you have not noticed my comment on the changes. I do not like to start an edit war and kindly ask you to specify what is wrong in your opinion. --Wolle1303 (talk) 21:23, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Davey2010:, I asked for the reasons for your revert and you changed a picture instead? I am a little short of time but I did a little research which should have been done by the authors beforehand. Sorry for the delay.
The Vario may have "mostly been known" as a bus and I suspect you are talking about British made third-party buses opposed to the genuine Mercedes-Benz buses. Given less than 5000 chassis had been sold within the 17 years of production (fr:Wikipedia) this number includes buses, UPS vans, perhaps the mobile post office and any other kind of third-party van imaginable. No clue about the exact number of buses but I prefer to guess 2500, which gives 150 per year for about a dozen bus body builders involved throughout Europe. So, when talking about buses we are talking about 2.5 % of the total Vario production volume, when talking about British bus builders about one third or one fifth of that (another guess).
There has also been the factory-made Mercedes-Benz buses which range from the "Berliner Wanne" police bus to small coaches (pictured in Viernheim) and commuter buses for narrow/hilly/winding streets. Furthermore, the pictured bus from Krakow/Poland appears to be a used cargo van later converted to a bus. These conversions based on any kind of old, used vans were very common all over eastern Europe. Anyway, among all Varios buses were a clear minority and among them third-party body builders were a minority again at least in continental Europe.
Therefore, I feel it would be a good idea to decide for a title picture at the end. What is best? The most typical, the most unique or a bus version?
Btw, is the pictured mobile post office armoured? Wouldn't this be worth to be mentioned?
Front wheel drive was available for the power heads (810DT).
I am not sure about classification shemes in North America, the UK and other countries nor which is best to be used here. To my knowledge, full size van is an American term for vans like the Ford E-series which share a maximum of 4.5 tons gross weight with the European Sprinter class. This limit is exceeded by the Sprinter itself (5 - 5.5 t) and Iveco Daily (7 t) in Europe. The Vario's minimum gross weight is almost 5 tons (1996-2001) to 6 tons which made me decide it is bigger than a full size van and cannot be classified as such. The gross weight exceeding 3.5 tons has also been a major reason for declining sales ([1]).
Is the Moralles Traveller a Vario or any kind of a bus or coach? Any proof? This also brought me to the question where has the Vario been sold (outside Europe)?
What is a MB800? Where is a proof for being a predecessor of the Vario?
Where is a proof for a CKD production in Alcobendas?
Is the wheelchair lift related to the genuine Vario bus or to any kind of third-party bus body?
The text section about engines is confusing, at least for a non-native English speaker like me. Reads like patchwork with a lot of repetitions. I doubt, the 618/818 has had 136 or 150 hp. I doubt, in 2002 there had only been 2 engine choices (100 and 110 kw, acc. to the engines table). Acc. to Mercedes-Benz a 4 litre engine (= OM364) has been available starting from 1996 (for Export?) and a 130 kw option as well ([2]).
My opinion: Most of the Varios were not standard vans or trucks but more or less converted to special applications: Emergency and emergency doctor vans (like the new-born pictured), double/crew cabs for construction, landscaping and others, workshop/control and metering vans (like the Rhein Energie pictured), the short-lived UPS vans, etc. A powerhead was available but the only applications I remember and pretty common were the Ruthmann skip carrier and possibly sales vans. Mercedes-Benz claimed the Fuso Canter to be a successor (imho seen by Daimler as a third or fourth choice after Sprinter, Atego and Unimog). --Wolle1303 (talk) 04:06, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wolle1303 What's your problem ?, You disagreed with the image ... so I changed it. The image isn't of a Plaxton Beaver anymorew hich is what your issue was.
Inregards to your other questions - No idea - I've only added images to the article

CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva — is wishing you a Happy New Year! It's the last day of 2021 and tomorrow will be 2026. Hope the coming year brings pleasures for you. Have a prosperous, enjoyable and a productive 2026. This greeting (and season) promotes WikiLove and hopefully this note has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Happy New Year, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Happy New Year!
Spread the New Year cheer by adding {{subst:New Year 2}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
Hey Missvain, Haha aww, No worries!, I don't agree with the comments you've received and personally don't see a problem with the Relists either, But looks like we're in the minority there!,
All of the shit you're getting is the entire reason why I no longer bother with AFD anymore (that and closing AFDs 2 or so hours before the 7th day is a crime of the century apparently!),
Best advice I can give you is stop closing AFDs and participate where you'll actually be appreciated for what you do (which in my case is sourcing articles the best I can as well as improving them).
I think I accidentally edited an old revision of the page. I was looking at an IP edit that changed the release date and I guess I forgot to leave the revision page. That happens sometimes whenever I see an unconstructive edit. Sorry, honest mistake. ResPM come to my window19:31, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your positivity and hope - both are what the world needs right now!, I wish you nothing but the very best for 2021 and certainly hope it's a better year for us all. Take care and stay safe mate, Warmest Regards, –Davey2010Talk18:59, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Davey, you tagged the Poldark entry on Sabrina Bartlett's page as needing a better source because the sources given "Only mentioned as Sabrina Bartlett as Keren Smith in 'Poldark'", what more are you looking for from a source? I was going to remove the tag but I thought I'd check with you first to see what you had in mind. Robman94 (talk) 16:47, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Robman94, To be honest I was hoping there would be a news article I missed that mentioned her in the article itself or failing that credits somewhere, I sort of felt the source used was useless as although the source mentions her it's only as a photo credit so readers wanting to find out more will no doubt be disappointed to learn it's a photo credit mention only but ofcourse others may see it differently,
I see what you mean, it's not that the sources don't confirm that she played that part in that show, but they don't give much else. I tend to look at such citations as merely confirming that the statement is true, but no worries, I just did a quick search and have found a news article discussing her role in the show, so I'll use that instead. Robman94 (talk) 18:32, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Robman94, Exactly, Ah weirdly I'd visited the link as it's purple so not sure why that never got added, Many thanks for finding and replacing the refs, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk19:39, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a new ref for Poldark and added some refs for the other ones with the CN tag. Take a look at the syntax I used because it's really cool, I discovered it a while back and it's a great way to keep articles clean. Robman94 (talk) 21:29, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome. I used to hate how difficult it was to read articles in edit mode, with all the citation syntax getting in the way, then I saw an article where the syntax was all in the references section, and I've never looked back. I use it for all the articles that I create now, take a look at Steven Blush for example, it's got nearly 30 citations but see how easy it is to read in edit mode. Robman94 (talk) 21:55, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree Robman94 articles can be confusing to read in edit mode but despite that I prefer references to be up top but then again it's something I've always done since being here, Over at Strood everything's in {{Sfn}} which when can be confusing too, Meh people prefer different things which is cool - The world would be boring if we did things the same and preferred the same things etc :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk22:17, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I use SFN very sparingly, just for books that are used throughout an article with different page numbers in the ref. I've bookmarked Complete Control as an article that shows me how to do it, I use it so infrequently that I don't remember how! :) Cheers! Robman94 (talk) 22:22, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Completion rates for comments made with the Reply tool and full-page wikitext editing. Details and limitations are in this report.
The Reply tool is available at most other Wikipedias.
The Reply tool has been deployed as an opt-out preference to all editors at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
It is also available as a Beta Feature at almost all Wikipedias except for the English, Russian, and German-language Wikipedias. If it is not available at your wiki, you can request it by following these simple instructions.
Research notes:
As of January 2021, more than 3,500 editors have used the Reply tool to post about 70,000 comments.
There is preliminary data from the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedia on the Reply tool. Junior Contributors who use the Reply tool are more likely to publish the comments that they start writing than those who use full-page wikitext editing.[3]
The Editing and Parsing teams have significantly reduced the number of edits that affect other parts of the page. About 0.3% of edits did this during the last month.[4] Some of the remaining changes are automatic corrections for Special:LintErrors.
A large A/B test will start soon.[5] This is part of the process to offer the Reply tool to everyone. During this test, half of all editors at 24 Wikipedias (not including the English Wikipedia) will have the Reply tool automatically enabled, and half will not. Editors at those Wikipeedias can still turn it on or off for their own accounts in Special:Preferences.
During Talk pages consultation 2019, editors said that it should be easier to know about new activity in conversations they are interested in. The Notifications project is just beginning. What would help you become aware of new comments? What's working with the current system? Which pages at your wiki should the team look at? Please post your advice at mw:Talk:Talk pages project/Notifications.

A tag has been placed on TEMSA Safir, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi! I wanted to let you know that this edit that you made to Eurovision Song Contest 2021 contained a small mistake; you changed the link Go_A to Go A, however "Go_A" is the proper way to spell the band name (you can also see that the band's page uses {{DISPLAYTITLE}} to make the underscore appear). I don't know what that script is that you used, but it might need to be changed so it actually checks what the display title is of the target article. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 22:26, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jochem van Hees, Whoops my apologies for that - I did do a quick scroll before saving and obviously thought all was fine, Editors (myself included) occasionally will copy and paste from the URL and unintentionally copy the underscores with it so the script removes the underscores (amongst other things),
Unfortunately there's no easy fix as if "go_a" is not included in the script then editors who copy and paste for instance "go_away" from the URL it would leave the underscores if that makes sense. The best solution I can think of is to add a hidden comment to the name making people aware of the name and intentional underscores, I can't really think of a beter solution as to my knowledge the script cannot be disabled on a page and as I say removing partial words from the script would cause issues too.
When newcomers had the Reply tool and tried to post on a talk page, they were more successful at posting a comment. (Source)
Earlier this year, the Editing team ran a large study of the Reply Tool. The main goal was to find out whether the Reply Tool helped newer editors communicate on wiki. The second goal was to see whether the comments that newer editors made using the tool needed to be reverted more frequently than comments newer editors made with the existing wikitext page editor.
The key results were:
Newer editors who had automatic ("default on") access to the Reply tool were more likely to post a comment on a talk page.
The comments that newer editors made with the Reply Tool were also less likely to be reverted than the comments that newer editors made with page editing.
These results give the Editing team confidence that the tool is helpful.
Looking ahead
The team is planning to make the Reply tool available to everyone as an opt-out preference in the coming months. This has already happened at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.

Hate's a strong word and I don't hate anyone. Being reverted doesn't mean you're hated - just means your edits aren't improving the project unfortunately. –Davey2010Talk14:08, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Half the edits on selfie were of an improved nature. For example, the drone selfie was important and also wanted to add others. I catered to your preference on the grounds that you liked to have different authors instead of one. --EurovisionNim(talk to me)(see my edits)14:17, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh great, how rude of you to ignore me. I am trying to get your attention on this matter and I've done what the admins told me to do. What's next you expect me to turn back into my bad ways and get into mischief on the articles. Becuase I am planning to do that next if I cannot replace images at all. --EurovisionNim(talk to me)(see my edits)14:28, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
as discussed. Hope that is what you wanted. Also if I'm partially blocked from selfie, that's not a big deal. I won't upload anymore. I've cut off some irrelevant images per your suggestion. I'm. sorry but it was wrong of me, but I'm happy to just get the topic ban replaced with a block temporarily, as I'll just edit other projects. I went middle ground for us, by removing all my images which were of own work and the low quality ones and replaced it back with all of them. Its easier, better compromise and we can move on. Instead of reverting, if you want, instead of replacing your version, its good to go middle ground --EurovisionNim(talk to me)(see my edits)14:26, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Project objectives
Continue to improve Big Brother articles to bring them inline with MOS:TV
The use of {{Episode table}} and {{Episode list}} with episode summaries of 200 words or less, or a general prose summary of 500 words or less, are preferred over other tables or formats (see Big Brother 23 (American season) for example).
Both Big Brother parent and season articles should follow the general format of articles described at MOS:TV (see Big Brother 21 (American season) for an example).
Where possible both Big Brother parent and season articles should have information regarding production of the series.
Per this discussion individual seasons of Big Brother should no longer contain a standalone article of contestants.
The Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on television has caused numerous seasons or editions to be cancelled, postponed, or adjusted significantly; any information relating to this can be added in appropriate production sections.

I was happy on Commons, and I think I behave much better there. --EurovisionNim(talk to me)(see my edits)15:19, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry to hear that Nim but I treat everyone the same - If you make an edit and I disagree with it - you'll be reverted, The exact same thing happens here on a daily basis with everyone. At the end of the day Wikipedia is a collaborative project meaning you have to discuss things (such as being reverted/your edits etc etc).
As I said at ANI WP:Wikipedia is not therapy and whilst it's sad to hear about your loved ones - Wikipedia can only make things 10x worse at times.
I don't like you constantlyreverting me for no apparent reason on the Simple English Wikipedia when I left, because its simply got worse for wear. I keep mentioning it but WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT seem to mind. Unwanted pings
Noticed on the ANI thread you getting annoyed with unwanted pings from a now blocked user. I had a similar situation awhile back, and was happy to find there is a good solution for that: if you go into your preferences -> notifications, at the very bottom is a box for "Muted users." Add the names of any users here you don't want to receive notifications, including pings from. Works like a charm. OhNoitsJamieTalk23:59, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

McGill's
Hello. I'm currently editing McGill's buses. I'm not the best at wiki and its been a while. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong on that page. I was about to post a link for McGill's 110 routes. Thanks for your help.
Craig Discolover18 (talk) 18:33, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Craig, Welcome to Wikipedia, Usually when you add a claim you should always provide a source with that claim - not after :), I've reverted myself too to make life easy lol, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk18:37, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I have a source. But I can't remember how to tidy links. Its been years since I've used wiki and I've only done 2000 odd edits. If I provide the source can you tidy it up for me? Discolover18 (talk) 18:40, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Discolover18, I've converted the URL to cite, Unfortunately in regards to the image there's no better images at present (I've took a look on Flickr but no luck),
At present the only best picture's are this and this but one isn't better than the other so seems pointless replacing one poor image with another. Unfortunately this image isn't in the standard livery and this image obviously depicts a coach not a bus.
I have a ton of pics. I work at McGill's. I'll see if I can can get sone decent ones uploaded. Thanks for your help. I'm keen to see this page looking better and more accurate. Thanks again.
Hi Craig, You're welcome, You may want to read WP:COI - as long as you don't add promotional stuff to it you'll be fine, I've tagged one of new images as having no permission so you may want to contact OTRS at Commons, I know some pages here unfortunately tend to get forgotten about which is a shame, Thanks for your contributions to the article :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk20:44, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What would you call someone who creates an account, spams their name (or their books) across multiple articles, gets blocked for it .... and proceeds to repeat the process under IPs ? ..... I can't find diffs because all this happened between 2016-2018 and I don't have the mental strength to comb through my contribs to find this given I've made thousands upon thousands of edits since. My comment isn't a personal attack. It's a true statement. –Davey2010Talk17:10, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Puzzled by this. There’s a huge piece of whitespace on my screen which I’ve not seen in any other article. Your edit summary doesn’t clarify. I can’t really see what it’s got to do with grabbing people’s attention about infoboxes. Thanks. DeCausa (talk) 21:48, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies DeCausa I didn't realise it did that - I thought spacing the hidden comments out might make them seen more or better but was obviously unaware it added the whitespace to the article so apologies for that - I've self reverted, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk21:52, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your support and trust in my recent run for admin. Thank you for the very nice compliment you paid me in your support. I've had an interesting first few weeks and am learning a lot by being able to better watch (through tools) what admins do. Please call on me if you see making an error, or if you just need help. Thanks again. BusterD (talk) 18:03, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey BusterD, You're very welcome, Congratulations on your RFA! :), As I said at the RFA you're a fantastic editor and without a single doubt in my mind you'll make a fantastic admin,
FWIW just some helpful advice but if you ever make a mistake as admin - Don't worry about it - It's not the end of the world, What ever mistake you make can easily be undone. Anyway congrats again, Happy blocking! :) –Davey2010Talk20:40, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's humorous to me that I undid my very first block because I felt the contributor was attempting to discuss but had made their attempts hard to find or poorly timed. I didn't notice one of the attempts because I gone off to work after blocking. Turns out the contributor was discussing a non-notable subject with identical name as a subject with a long established article. Encyclopedia anyone can edit? What are we ever going to do with all these 8 billion contributors? BusterD (talk) 20:52, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop reverting the image
I'm reverting the article to the original image before the one I uploaded was added. Mine has already been voted to be deleted so it's just a matter of time before it's gone. I just want to make sure the article still has some sort of image representing the article. Lilzlulz (talk) 10:36, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Lilzlulz, FYI it's always better to add the image back as opposed to undoing someone which gives me a notification (or ping), I'd forgot about the DR result so if you haven't already I'll self revert, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk11:24, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you
Many thanks for seconding the nomination as editor of the week. It was a very pleasant surprise when I got on my computer after getting up here in Melbourne. --Bduke (talk) 00:18, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Sam FM Bristol logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
The discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nandita Mahtani (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Replaceable fair use File:1980 West Midlands Fire Service Dennis Dart.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:1980 West Midlands Fire Service Dennis Dart.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 11:45, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Disputed non-free use rationale for File:1980 West Midlands Fire Service Dennis Dart.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:1980 West Midlands Fire Service Dennis Dart.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

Hi ~ ToBeFree, Thank you so much and I wish you and yours a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe New Year,
I'm sorry for the comment but for a very long time I've hated people copying the xmas template word for word... it does my head in, So when I saw them change "PLEASE DON'T COPY THIS TEMPLATE WORD FOR WORD - BE CREATIVE!, THANKS, Davey2010 :)" to their name it[10] .... yeah my blood pressure hit the roof!.
It may seem stupid getting irate over something so trivial as a Crimbo template but when you've put work, effort and care into it just to see someone copypaste it and then seemingly deciding to take the credit for it ... yeah I don't appreciate things like that,
Thank you for not indeffing me although lets face it I should've been, There's no excuse for that vulgar word and I sincerely apologise for using it. You're a kind person ToBeFree and I appreciate you not doing what any other admin would've done, Sorry for the comment and sorry you had to see it, Anyway I hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year, Warm Regards, –Davey2010Talk21:09, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What did you expect, an indef for Christmas? It took me a while to see the thought process behind the message. While the reaction is an individual one, I can understand what led to it.
The ideal target of an apology in this case isn't me though... :) I see such words often enough not to be surprised angered by them either.
Certainly would've topped off the crap year that's for sure! :), You're far too kind ToBeFree far too kind. Seems unreal to think 2011 was a whole 10 years ago now, Only today me and the family were talking about me being a kid, memories etc and now I'm a man-child lol, 2021 really has just flown by, Anyway Take care and all the best for 2022, –Davey2010Talk22:15, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I came here looking for an explanation for that edit summary. I still don't quite understand but see that it's been addressed by ToBeFree so I'll let it be. Happy holidays. LizRead!Talk!22:12, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Liz - Picture this - You make a christmas template which you put a lot of effort and care into, spent a few hours working with the coding, colours etc .... You add hidden messages encouraging people not to copy it word-for-word and you copypaste that hidden message like 5-6 times within that template hoping someone wouldn't copypaste it word for word. You then come across this where not only has it been copied word-for-word but also that person's replaced your name with theirs (giving the impression they created it all themselves) - How would you feel in all honestly ?,
Obviously no one with an ounce of sense would ever say what I did but you wouldn't be happy would you in all honestly ?,
Certainly not justifying what I said but in some respects you can sort of see where I'm coming from and sort of understand why I reacted the way I did,
I dunno maybe I care too much, Maybe I shouldn't care as much as I do but it just seems so disrespectful to replace usernames implying it was all their work, –Davey2010Talk22:28, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's not that clear-cut. To me personally, the text modification (in the linked case, to reflect the posthumous nature of the greetings) did seem to address your HTML comment request. And Special:Diff/1061754401 went even further with personalizing the greeting text.
To probably most editors, and honestly even to my CSS-enthusiast¹ self, the text is the central thing; it's Wikipedia after all, where everything revolves around text and images are decoration. So taking your CSS and adhering to the wish expressed in the HTML comment by replacing the text as individually as possible doesn't seem to be an evil thing to do. Not even really tactless in my personal opinion.
Of course people sign greetings with their own signature. Yet the source of the template was publicly attributed with a link to User:Davey2010/MerryChristmas, even in the visible text. Not bad?
Thanks for noticing and asking, Liz; I was sure Davey2010 would return after a few hours after their message, look at it again, see it deleted, know how to check who did that and then notice that my Christmas greetings have been sent after the deletion. Seemed like the ideal way to start a discussion without throwing accusations at anyone, as I lacked the context.
I originally wanted to return with my 01:46 message contents tomorrow, but your question and the response provided the ideal opportunity to write it today instead. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 02:03, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I sincerely hope your holiday season goes well this year especially with what we went through last year. I'm optimistic that 2022 will be a better year for all of us: both in real life and on Wikipedia. Wishing you the best from, Interstellarity (talk) 05:58, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Give good gifts, one to another Peace, joy and comfort gladly bestow Harbor no ill 'gainst sister or brother Smooth life's journey as you onward go. Broad as the sunshine, free as the showers. So shed an influence blessing to prove; Give for the noblest of efforts your pow'rs; Blest and be blest, is the law of love.
Moral lesson:John Vanderlyn was an American painter who studied in Paris, and his life-sized Ariadne Asleep on the Island of Naxos was one of the first large nudes exhibited in the United States. Peddling the poison as well as the cure, this overtly sensuous work was presented to the public as a moral lesson on the consequences of lascivious behavior. Visible in the distance is the ship of Princess Ariadne's secret lover, Theseus, for whom she has betrayed her people by helping him to escape the Labyrinth and slay the Minotaur. Ariadne's bliss will come to an end when she awakens from her post-coital reverie, only to discover that the faithless Theseus has sailed away without her.
The 2021 re-examination of RFA has been completed. 23 (plus 2 variants) ideas were proposed. Over 200 editors participated in this final phase. Three changes gained consensus and two proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration. Thanks to all who helped to close the discussion, and in particular Primefac, Lee Vilenski, and Ymblanter for closing the most difficult conversations and for TonyBallioni for closing the review of one of the closes.
The following proposals gained consensus and have all been implemented:
Revision of standard question 1 to Why are you interested in becoming an administrator? Special thanks to xaosflux for help with implementation.
A new process, Administrative Action Review (XRV) designed to review if an editor's specific use of an advanced permission, including the admin tools, is consistent with policy in a process similar to that of deletion review and move review. Thanks to all the editors who contributed (and are continuing to contribute) to the discussion of how to implement this proposal.
Removal of autopatrol from the administrator's toolkit. Special thanks to Wugapodes and Seddon for their help with implementation.
The following proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration:
Editors who wish to discuss these ideas or other ideas on how to try to address any of the six issues identified during phase 1 for which no proposal gained are encouraged to do so at RFA's talk page or an appropriate village pump.
A final and huge thanks all those who participated in this effort to improve our RFA process over the last 4 months.
This is the final update with no further talk page messages planned.
Hello Davey. Thank you for spreading joy through Wikipedia one more year. Bye bye 2021. 2022 is welcomed with lots of hope and fingers crossed. Lets make it a great one! Cheers.
