Thank you for the message & guidance. Reviewed your changes & attribution language (hopefully I've learned from them) & re-edited tighter & cleaner. Have never seemed able to learn talk pages, though. Did the best I could. Qassander (talk) 02:42, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Atifgg000, you asked me this same question yesterday, but I'm not sure what you're trying to ask. If you have any specific questions about editing on Wikipedia, I'll be happy to answer them! DanCherek (talk) 14:55, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
I added photos to the gallery but also accidentally inserted two photos on the page. How do I remove the two from the page so they appear only in the gallery? --Tony6802 (talk) 19:40, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Tony6802, I see you are using the VisualEditor so in the editing mode, you should be able to click each photo and simply hit the "delete" button to remove it. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you are still having issues and I will try to help further! DanCherek (talk) 19:48, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Baillieu Myer
On 11 February 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Baillieu Myer, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Baillieu Myer and his siblings were born in California because their father's prior divorce was not recognised under Australian law? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Baillieu Myer. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Baillieu Myer), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Hi Dan. Thanks for pointing it out. I usually contribute to Wiki Italy and I hardly copy and paste text from Wiki sources. Therefore, I was not aware of the quoting policy you mentioned. I will keep it in mind for the future. Regards, Stiglich (talk) 15:50, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Dan, I am Itcouldbepossible. Recently you tagged a draft with copyvio tag, which I previously tagged with CSD. Your copyvio guess was not wrong. But how did you know that it was a copyrighted content. Do you copy each article and pass it through a plagiarism detection software? I would like to learn the method, because I like reviewing new pages, and find problems and correct them. I also CSD some and draftify some. In short, I run a thorough check to determine all that can be done about the article. And copyright is a serious issue, so if you teach me the method to detect copyright, then it would really help me. ItcouldbepossibleTalk04:40, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Itcouldbepossible! There are a few hallmarks that might lead you to suspect that something was copied, and you'll get a sense for these over time as you patrol pages. In this case, the draft was promotionally written without inline references, as if the editor had just copied chunks of the "About Us" page of the organization's website – and checking that website confirmed this to be the case. Earwig's Copyvio Detector is a really helpful tool when you suspect copying, but be aware that there are certain sources (such as PDFs) that it can't interpret, and that it will sometimes return false-positive matches to sources that are Wikipedia mirrors. If you identify a copyright violation, please see Wikipedia:Text copyright violations 101 for instructions on how to handle it. DanCherek (talk) 04:52, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know! I have removed it again, requested revision deletion, and left a note on the editor's talk page. DanCherek (talk) 13:17, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Sunil2404, welcome to Wikipedia! If you are associated with Equinox Business, please see the conflict of interest guideline for more information, including how to provide some required disclosures. You can read WP:YFA for a detailed guide on how to create your first article. It will take you through the steps to create a draft that can be submitted for review. Important things to keep in mind are that the article's topic should be notable. This generally means that it has already been covered in detail in good references from independent sources. However, it seems like your draft has already been deleted twice for unambiguous advertising, so please note that Wikipedia is not an avenue for promotion. Writing an article from scratch can be really tough for new editors, so if you are finding it challenging, I would encourage you to edit existing articles for a while to get the hang of things. Let me know if you have additional questions or need more detailed guidance! DanCherek (talk) 12:50, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Hello! i recently made my first wiki page on the plant "Epipremnum giganteum". i used a copyrighted source and you reverted the offending info, thank you. i am quite new to this all and i ask some help. I have removed the use of the source that violates copyright. the rest of the remaining info is common and well known about the plant. (i believe) Just some student on the web (talk) 10:37, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. Just to clarify, there was nothing wrong with the source itself, but we need to summarize information from the source rather than copying directly from it. Anyways, the article should be good to go. DanCherek (talk) 13:10, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Transitions Online
Hi Dan, Do you think that you can help me? I'm new to Wiki and wanted to correct very old info under Transitions Online on wiki. I'm owner of all copyrights, including new logo cause I represent the company but not sure how to handle it now cause you deleted majority of my actualization and kept URL's that lead to unexciting links etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClTRse (talk • contribs) 18:42, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi! There are a few different issues here. Since you represent the company, you'll need to provide the proper disclosure according to WP:COIDISCLOSEPAY — that means disclosing the relationship on your user page, on the talk page of the article, or in your edit summaries. This disclosure is required by the Terms of Use. Be sure to read the policies and guidelines on paid editing and conflicts of interest.Previously published content may be released by the copyright owner into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. I will point out, however, that Wikipedia is primarily interested in what reliable sources have to say about a particular subject, not what it says about itself, and articles should be based on reliable, independent, secondary sources. Most of the content that you added to the article was promotionally written and not neutral enough for an encyclopedic article.Once you have reviewed the conflict of interest guidelines, I recommend suggesting any future edits that you'd like to make on the talk page of the article, using edit requests. You may find the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard helpful. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 18:48, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

Rasim Alguliev
Hello DanCherek.
You removed almost all information from the article Rasim Alguliev. The fact that the article has a large list of publications and they need to be reduced - I agree with you. And that's why I left the list in your version. But please, let's leave the other data as is. Nobelll (talk) 16:56, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the message. Feel free to restore that information with reliably sources; I tried to preserve all of the existing sourced content. Please see Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons for an explanation of why particular care is taken with respect to articles about living people. For instance, statements like He is married, has 1 daughter and 1 son. should not be included without a source. DanCherek (talk) 17:04, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Oh, nice!. Thank you very much. I agree with you that sources are needed and I will try to add them. Thanks for your understanding! Good luck!Nobelll (talk) 17:21, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi Dan,
This is in regard to the recent removal of ALL biographical and career details after 1988 from my wiki page.
I have been trying to keep this page up to date over the past four decades but this is the second time there has been a massive removal of everything about my life and work after 1988.
Could you please reinstate this information as the page is now no longer relevant to my life or career - for the past 32 years.
If there is a problem or you doubt that I am the actual person this page is about, please contact me directly so we can sort this out. [email protected].
Hi there. All information on Wikipedia needs to be reliably sourced, which means that statements should be supported by citations to reliable, published sources. This is particularly true for biographies of living persons, where it's even more critical to keep the content accurate and verifiable. There are a few additional considerations for people editing their own article, detailed at Wikipedia:FAQ/Article subjects. I recommend giving that a read. Let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. DanCherek (talk) 01:10, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Hello, I am the one who input the copyrighted text into the articles, "Iloilo City Proper" and "Molo, Iloilo City", but I didn't know what I am doing was infringing. I have also linked the texts to the source, so I thought it was just okay. I would just like to apologize because I didn't realize the impact of what I made. I hope the articles won't meet for revision deletion because it is very important for those articles to be kept updated by the locals like myself. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.28.234.111 (talk) 15:49, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for the message and for your understanding. The revision deletion tags are there to hide a few revisions from the history of the pages, and they will be removed shortly after an administrator has reviewed them. The articles themselves will definitely not be deleted – thanks for working on them! DanCherek (talk) 15:52, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Material obtained through interviews
Hello, DanCherek! I am working on a couple biographies, and am personally interviewing the subjects to establish their histories. Such interviews lack any formal reference, and I am wondering how they can be safely included. As an example, the interviewee might tell me a story from their youth that inspired their direction in life, but proving that such an event occurred is essentially impossible. I was thinking that if I simply state that the source is allegorical, with a formal approval of the resultant material by the subject, that might be acceptable. Where can I find good guidance on this?
76.14.12.107 (talk) 18:55, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi there. First of all, according to Wikipedia's guideline on reliable sources, articles should be based on reliable, published sources (emphasis mine). That means that if you personally interview someone and they tell you something but this interview isn't being published anywhere (let alone a reliable source), then the statement should not be included in the article if it can't be verified elsewhere. Additionally, interviews should be used with caution – see Wikipedia:Interviews for some good advice, though keeping in mind that that page is just an essay. Finally, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons contains important information about the higher sourcing standards for articles about living people. Hope that helps... let me know if you have any questions! DanCherek (talk) 19:03, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, but that's not the way to do it – I've already provided the necessary attribution in this edit. For future reference, attribution for copying within Wikipedia should be provided not in the article text itself, but rather in the edit summary. When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
When you copy text from another article, you should write copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution in that field. Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 21:43, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
Hello Dan:
I have received multiple messages from different people and replied multiple times. I am not sure that any of the people I replied to have read any of the other replies so I have no idea where this article stands.
I was asked to create a profile for Yelena Yesha. She is a prominent academic expert (profiled in a 2-part article by Forbes magazine) and a pioneer for Women in Tech. My question is: who would create an article for her if not me? How do prominent figures end up here if you forbid those with the most information about them from publishing their basic information?
I am certainly not trying to create a "profitable" account for her. Academia is nonprofit. I am not getting paid a fee to create this article. I simply work at the same place she does and am just trying to do my job.
Anyway, I have (I thought explained or refuted your objections) but I keep getting the same messages that I have already responded to from different people.
I guess Wikipedia will decide somehow when it's time for an article on Yelena Yesha.
Hi Helen. I am sorry if you have found your experience to be overwhelming or confusing. In short, we can't host copyright text that has not been explicitly released under a compatible license, and previously published material without a copyright notice is still considered to be protected by copyright. You are welcome to recreate the draft, either written in new and original prose or by releasing the text on your website under a compatible license (see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for how to do that) – be sure to follow the conflict of interest guidelines as well. To answer your question "who would create an article for her if not me?": if you don't want to write the article yourself, you can add her name to Wikipedia:Requested articles. No guarantees, but experienced editors sometimes go through those lists looking for notable subjects to write about. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Sea Scouts page
Dan -
I am the primary webmaster of seascout.org, and we are concerned that the material that was here was very out of date. We used our own material to update the site. I can have our National Commodore validate this information.
Hi Ron. Even if it was licensed compatibly, phrases like Sea Scouts BSA provides limitless opportunities and exciting challenges that you won’t find anywhere else are extremely promotional and not appropriate for Wikipedia, where articles are written from a neutral point of view and supported by reliable, independent sources. As you are affiliated with seascout.org, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose. Additionally, please read WP:PAID and WP:COI. Paid editors are very strongly discouraged from directly editing affected articles, and should post content proposals on the talk page at Talk:Sea Scouts (Boy Scouts of America). You may find the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard helpful. I'll leave a message on your talk page with more information about this. DanCherek (talk) 03:05, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
Not an employee a volunteer
Dan, I have written and maintained articles here on Wikipedia for years, as I am a volunteer, not an employee. In addition, I also support the Wikipedia Foundation. There is no intent to defraud anyone here. I do this to ensure a consistent message, especially when the old content would be considered harmful by most. 69.14.221.172 (talk) 03:11, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. As Wikipedia:Conflict of interest explains, even volunteers can have a conflict of interest if they are writing about something they are affiliated with. This relationship needs to be disclosed for any edits to affected articles. Your edits to the Sea Scout article were reverted for two reasons: the previously-published text was not released under a compatible license, and it was extremely promotional, even if you didn't intend it to be. In the revert, I did not restore any potentially outdated text that you had removed. DanCherek (talk) 03:14, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
It's been a while, so I had to go back and refresh myself. It looks like you were repeatedly adding the names of non-notable people to Arlington, Texas, with a citation that did not support the claim at all, as part of a TikTok meme that was trending at the time. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Body Offering (novel). Hi Dan, this is Adindia2209. You had recently removed some of my content on Glenn Loury's page because of a copyright violation, and I now realised where I had made my mistake. I have added that content back to the page but paraphrased most of it and reduced the size of the quotations. Would it be possible for you to take a look and see if it is fine now? Best Regards, Adindia2209 (talk) 01:48, 23 February 2022 (UTC).
Hi Adindia2209, your new addition looks good to me. Thank you for rewriting it. The copyright template at the top of the article will be removed soon after a Wikipedia administrator hides the single infringing revision. DanCherek (talk) 01:56, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
Following up on Yelena Yesha
Hello Dan: Thanks for your reply. I am still confused about the copyright. The "copyright" note on the footnote of our website was just like filler text to make it look official. After I was told about the conflict I removed it and notified the person who told me. I DO want to write the article, but Wikipedia is refusing it (as far as I understand) because I have a "conflict of interest" (not being paid a fee to do this), and because of the copyright (but the information in question that is "copied" is our own text which we are okay with). I will put her in the Requested Articles in any case, and I will try again to write the article (if I can figure out how to get around/work with the big red box notice). I do find the interface overwhelming and confusing :-/ . . . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Actionmoviefreak (talk • contribs) 16:21, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
If you would like to attempt to write the draft again, I recommend starting with the article wizard, which is designed to make the process easier. At the appropriate step, please select the button that says "I'm writing about myself, or a close person/subject", which will help you provide the necessary disclosure. (Writing about someone you know, at their direction, is a conflict of interest, even if you are not being paid.) When adding the article text, please summarize information in your own words or follow the steps at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials to release the text on your website under a compatible license. Question from TylerSalad (16:38, 23 February 2022)
hello! my name is Tyler, and i want to make a article about myself. you might hear that a lot, but i used to partake and win in several martial arts (specifically taekwondo). I figured i should document this, since i believe this technically qualifies me as an athlete. i also have some records in cross country, as well as track. --TylerSalad (talk) 16:38, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi TylerSalad! Wikipedia typically regards someone as notable if they have been the subject of multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable and independent of the subject. If you believe you meet that criteria, you can create a draft by following the steps at Help:Your first article. Please consider, however, the advice given at Wikipedia:Autobiography: writing about yourself is generally discouraged because it is difficult to write a neutral, verifiable autobiography, and you will not have special control of the content on the page. Let me know if you have any questions – I'm also going to post a message on your talk page with some additional links that you may find useful as you get started. DanCherek (talk) 17:59, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
I think your block is one of the more easily appealable ones if only you were willing to stop editing the English Wikipedia for a few months and then formulate a well-written appeal. You know from first-hand experience how much there is to do on other projects like Commons in the meantime. I'm not going to lecture you because neither of us need that, but this logged-out block evasion will actively impede your goals – if I hadn't commented at the SPI, it could very well have been closed without action and made future filings more difficult. Hello there Mr. DanCherek
I have one small question. Hi Aryappa. I am not sure about the rules for the Ukraine Cultural Diplomacy Month so it would be best to check with the event coordinators. However, I do not recommend creating any more poorly-sourced machine translations. Please take the time to add reliable sources to any articles you create. Thank you! The article Banded bullfrog you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Banded bullfrog for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Hi, I'm creating a page on a Japanese samurai. I translated articles from Chinese, Japanese, and Italian wikis to put in my own. I was declined because I only have 1 source, I fixed this, and now I have several. Are foreign wikis a reliable source? I have found nothing else. --JamesSchovilleD. (talk) 17:12, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi JamesSchovilleD. – the answer to your question is no. This is because articles on other wikis are written by contributors just like you and me. That is an example of user-generated content because anyone can just write anything (without even needing to register an account). Wikipedia:Reliable sources has more information about the kinds of sources that should be used to support the statements in an article. One more thing: if you translated material from other wikis, you need to provide attribution to satisfy licensing requirements. Please make an edit to your draft and in the edit summary, write something like this: Content in this edit is translated from [[:zh:Exact name of Chinese article]], [[:ja:Exact name of Japanese article]], and [[:it:Exact name of Italian article]].This link has more information about why that attribution is required. Thank you today for A Beautiful Crime, modestly introduced: "This article is about a 2020 novel in which a young couple travels to Venice to sell an inherited collection of forged antiques to an unsuspecting collector... what could possibly go wrong?" - That's your first, right? Extra congrats! I'd normally place it under the January pic but you archive so fast ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:52, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks Gerda, much appreciated. Yes, this is my first FA. I am glad the nomination went rather smoothly with the help of many thoughtful reviewers. Hopefully the next one isn't too far into the future, though I don't have a specific article in mind yet. Hope you didn't mind the speedy bot archiving, I'm too lazy to do it manually – don't worry, I've been following along myself at "Places and songs 2022". I hope you had an enjoyable vacation and look forward to seeing more photos! DanCherek (talk) 08:15, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
I managed two more days in pics - celebrating today 10 years DYK and 4 years of TFA for Bach's cantata Mit Fried und Freud ich fahr dahin, BWV 125, - less happy that Georg Christoph Biller had to wait days for a Main page appearance and then stayed not even for a full day. It would been so meaningful on today's feast day, with the old man saying he can depart in joy and peace. - My next TFA date is 7 Feb, Bach again. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:39, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
I like it too! Thanks for the explanations. You got me thinking—I haven't been to a concert in a while, not since the start of the pandemic. I will have to look around and see what's happening in the next few months. DanCherek (talk) 17:25, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
If there is a music university near you: students' concert are affordable, and offer enthusiastic performances of less known music, - I didn't know even one of the four pieces presented! And the students are thankful to have an audience. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:30, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
I agree! Did you know that when I was a violinist in my university's symphony a few years ago, we played Prelude and Liebestod, complete with a soloist, and I didn't like it at all (thought it was too slow and unexciting, somehow)? Now here I am, writing about Tristan and Isolde left and right. By the way, I found an upcoming performance of The Magic Flute that I might get tickets to. It would be my first opera experience. Any opinions on that one? DanCherek (talk) 18:42, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Hi there. Saw you made this edit on the user's talk page. Where did you find that template, if it is a template? They have a long history of copyving without providing attribution, and it would make my life easier if there were templates I could use to warn them. Thanks for any light you could shed. Onel5969TT me15:06, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Onel5969! That is the {{uw-copying}} template. I usually fill out the parameters manually but it is also available via Twinkle (under the single-issue notices section). If you use Twinkle, note that the optional parameter is the page that is being copied from, not the page that they are copying to. There is also {{uw-translation}} for unattributed translations (this one is not included in Twinkle). Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 15:39, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Excellent! Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. Hopefully I won't screw up my first attempt to use it. Onel5969TT me16:52, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
Restoring copyrighted items
I didn't mean to save it, I put the old material back to accurately paraphrase, and will NOT stay one the final version. OttomaticM (talk) 07:06, 3 March 2022 (UTC)OttomaticM
Please also be aware of Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing, which is superficial modification of copyright material and is also not allowed – meaning you can't just put the old material back and swap around some words or phrases. In my opinion the best way to avoid this is to read the source material, then try to summarize it without directly referring to it (of course you can look at it afterwards, but this might help avoid the temptation of using the same or substantially similar phrasing). Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 07:08, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
I believe I misunderstood what you said about paraphrasing, thanks for the clarification. OttomaticM (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 07:19, 3 March 2022
No problem and thanks for your work on the article. I don't think it was vandalism, just an editor who needs some more familiarity with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DanCherek (talk) 13:21, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
I appreciate all of the reverting involved in cleaning up the most recent IP vandal from Sacramento. I'm sure there are more enjoyable things you could have spent time doing here but it's good to know that these folks get blocked within an hour after they start vandalizing. And when I checked their contributions, I found you had taken care of everything! I appreciate your contributions to the project. LizRead!Talk!04:44, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Liz, thanks for the kind message and for taking care of the block (and the CSD U2). I appreciate all that you do as well! DanCherek (talk) 04:47, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
Dan, I just want to add to what Liz says with my thanks for your efficient clean-up at Akshaya Patra Foundation. Again and again you show yourself to be a capable and valuable asset to the project in general, and to copyvio clean-up in particular. I'm both impressed and grateful! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:21, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, Justletterandnumbers, that means a lot to me! Happy to help out where I can. Thanks for regularly handling my RD1 and CSD requests. DanCherek (talk) 18:24, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi SoyokoAnis! PROD is designed for articles where you think the deletion will be uncontroversial (like an AFD where you expect everyone to !vote Delete without much discussion needed), but where none of the speedy deletion criteria apply. That also means that anyone, even the article's creator, can remove a PROD tag for any reason (or without giving a reason), and then anyone who still thinks the page should be deleted would have to nominate it at AFD. Articles cannot be PRODded more than once; more information is detailed at Wikipedia:Proposed deletion. Let me know if you have any questions. DanCherek (talk) 17:34, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're asking about exactly, but the point is that PRODs are meant for instances where you think no one else will object to a deletion – which is why it's often used on older articles, not recently created ones. If anyone – including the article creator or an IP editor – removes the PROD tag, that means they think the article's notability deserves at least a discussion at AFD. Copyright issues
Hi, thank you for the information about my edit on Klondike movie page. However the synopsis is from press kit, it is available to use for anyone. There must be no copyright issue. Am I wrong? 176.236.222.145 (talk) 13:56, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi there. While material in press kits is intended for distribution, that's different from being compatibly licensed. Wikipedia's licensing means that anyone is free to use and modify the material, even for their own commercial purposes. For that reason we usually need a more explicit indication that text is in the public domain or released under a compatible license. Feel free to summarize the synopsis in your own words, or WP:DONATETEXT has some information on how the copyright holder can grant permission. DanCherek (talk) 14:00, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi 1234comrade, the template indicates that some of the past revisions need to be hidden because they contain infringing text. An administrator will redact those, hopefully soon, and then it will be removed. Important note: please don't copy text from other websites in the future, and if you are copying text from another Wikipedia article, you should follow the steps at WP:Copying within Wikipedia. You have several warnings for copyright violations already, so you may be at risk of a block if the issues persist. Please let me know if you have any questions about the copyright policy. Thank you! DanCherek (talk) 14:28, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Would you be opposed if I removed your Db-G12 template from Draft:Alpha ii alternative school and removed the offending content? This is a new editor trying to add information (see my first entry on their talk page), and I advised them to create a draft. Rather than discouraging them, I'd rather advise on how things need to be done. So can I go ahead with that? signed, Willondon (talk) 19:08, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
P.S. I removed the offending content now, but I'm not sure how to request a "copyvio revdel", as it's not a simple reversion of an edit, which I understand is what the template is meant to deal with. signed, Willondon (talk) 19:28, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Willondon! Sorry I didn't see your initial message to reply in time. I never object to attempts to rewrite infringing text, so of course your edits are fine with me. I will go ahead and request revision deletion of the previous affected revisions. DanCherek (talk) 20:01, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Contested speedy deletion, deleted anyway
Hi, you flagged a page for speedy deletion at Slowjamastan and I contested this given that it is as equally notable as other micronations with wikipedia pages. I noted reasons and 3rd-party news, etc. when contesting the speedy deletion. Within an hour, it was already deleted anyway. I'm not very familiar with this, so I'm a bit surprised. Could you explain how this works? Since I contested it, I figured someone would review and realize this is a micronation claiming independence exactly like others with pages on Wikipedia. It's big news here in California where I live (not far from the land claiming independence). Seems like no one evaluated the fact I contested it, so just looking for some clarity. Thanks. smithryanallen — Preceding undated comment added 23:12, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Smithryanallen, it was actually another editor who nominated the page for speedy deletion; all I did was fix the template that they used and notify you. If you have any questions about the deletion, the first step is to contact the deleting administrator, which I see you have already done. Hopefully they will be able to resolve your concerns. Spotting copyvios
The Copyright Cleanup Barnstar
When I'm dealing with RD1 requests, I'm always relieved when I see your name as the requester as I can be sure that it'll be properly labelled with the correct diffs, the source will have been identified and the offending material will have been removed properly. Thanks for making this admin task a lot easier. Nthep (talk) 15:54, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
You too, The4lines, for your excellent work at both CCI and CopyPatrol – copyright cleanup is a far less daunting task with everyone's combined efforts! DanCherek (talk) 16:03, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Iowatastic19! I removed it because I don't think it's an improvement to the article. Before any further edits, however, please properly disclose your paid status (diff) as required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Iowatastic19|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Additionally, please read WP:PAID and WP:COI. Paid editors are very strongly discouraged from directly editing affected articles, and should post content proposals on the talk pages of existing articles (e.g., Talk:Amy Namowitz Worthen). You may find the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard helpful. Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 20:54, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
Thank you!
Hi, Dan! I just wanted to thank you for sending me those pages, a truly heroic effort on your part! I'm most grateful, even though I've been quite busy in RL and haven't yet made much use of them. Once everyone stops all the spamming and copyvio and edit-warring perhaps we'll be able to get back to writing some content ... Thanks again, regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:07, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Justlettersandnumbers, happy I could help! It seems like a valuable resource, so good luck with the articles and please let me know if you need any more pages in the future. I totally get how you feel – I'm making incremental content-writing progress on various articles in my spare time but always wish there were more hours in the day! DYK for Banded bullfrog
On 16 March 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Banded bullfrog, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the gonads of the banded bullfrog remain ripe during dry periods so that it can mate soon after rainfall? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Banded bullfrog. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Banded bullfrog), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Hello Decentuser! First of all, I'm guessing that you came to me because I made an edit to that article a few weeks ago, so I'll preface this with a disclaimer that Indian cinema is not my area of expertise.Notability on Wikipedia is generally based on the extent of coverage in independent, reliable secondary sources. For actors, the specific guideline is WP:NACTOR, which stipulates that actors should typically have had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions, or made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment. Looking at Bhasin's filmography tables, it doesn't seem like he has had a starring role in a film or television show yet. If that's correct, then (without looking too closely at anything else) I'm not sure he meets the threshold of notability yet.One option is to start a discussion on the talk page, stating why you think the subject is notable and why you think the tag should be removed, and pinging the editor who applied the tag. Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 20:27, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
DanCherek! He played lead roles in Panga and Yeh Hai Chahatein. Also he acted in many noted TV serials. I mentioned all his work in the article with reliable sources. He has impressive coverage in multiple reliable news articles. Some of the news sources I have attached to the article and rest you can check on the google. Decentuser (talk) 05:39, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
As I mentioned above, the best place to discuss this is on the article's talk page so that other interested editors can participate in the discussion, rather than the two of us. Thanks DanCherek (talk) 12:43, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
I raised my concern on article's talk page and tagged the editor who added the notability tag. But he hasn't replied yet. I request you to post your opinion on the article's talk page.
Decentuser (talk) 17:37, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for quick response. I've checked out the links you've sent and it says as long as it's a published book and a reliable source(Such as Publisher, Author, etc.) it is ok to publish about it. I'm both the publisher and author of the book Engineers' Survival Guide. You can see it by checking ISBN: 979-8985349900 or the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09MBZBGFK/
Please let me know if I needed to put these references somewhere or you missed this during audit.
Hi Merih001, I tagged the page for deletion because it seems to be an advertisement for your book, written to direct readers to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Apple Books to purchase it. Please also note that simply being a published book is not enough, in and of itself, to warrant a Wikipedia article. What the notability guideline refers to is that it should have been discussed or reviewed by multiple reliable, independent sources. Our notability guideline on books has some more information on specific criteria used to determine whether a book warrants an article. Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 06:38, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
Hello
On 10 January 20X2 Timeless Way Bakery ordered an industrial oven for its premises in Athlone. The supplier, based in Port Elizabeth, agreed a price of R56000. On 1 February 20X2 the Timeless Way paid the full price by the electronic transfer. The supplier dispatched the oven on 26 February 20X2 and it was delivered to the bakery by 1 March 20X2, as agreed in the sales contract.
You are required to:
1. Indicate the date on which Timeless Way should recognize the oven as an asset.
2. Discuss why the oven should be recognized as an asset on this date. Your answer should refer to the asset definition and recognition criteria as detailed in the conceptual framework. --Gonyela S (talk) 20:03, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
Usoejw9, if you make an edit to an article and another editor reverts it, the next step is to start a discussion on the talk page, not to immediately re-add the information. On a related note, it is entirely inappropriate to ask another editor about their religion, as you are repeatedly doing to WikiLinuz [1][2][3]. Please stop doing that or I suspect you will be reported for harassment. DanCherek (talk) 12:20, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Soundtrack album
Hi DanCherak, I m Theoder2055. I just moved Dhoom 3 to Dhoom 3 (soundtrack) to add the dubbed soundtracks as I am not able to add the dubbed soundtracks in the Dhoom 3 page itself. I had no option so I had to create a seperate article for soundtrack album. Can you suggest me that can I add the dubbed soundtrack in the main page Dhoom 3? How can I know about the Tamil songs of Dhoom 3? If I made any mistake in that could you correct me?? Theoder2055 (talk) 14:43, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi Theoder2055. The issue was not that you created a new soundtrack article, it was that you did so without providing attribution to the contributors who wrote the text in the original page. It's not fair to those editors when you make it seem like you wrote everything in Dhoom 3 (soundtrack), and more importantly, it violates Wikipedia's licensing requirement because that attribution is required by the Terms of Use. I'm not sure why you are having trouble editing the Dhoom 3 page, but I'll repeat what you have been asked multiple times – when you copy text from one article to another, please indicate the copying in the edit summary, such as: copied content from [[Dhoom 3]]; see that page's history for attribution. Does that make sense to you? DanCherek (talk) 14:49, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks again for your detailed comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/Prise d'Orange/archive1. Just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about them—I've just been quite busy IRL lately and haven't had the time to address the more work-intensive comments. Thank you for editing William Oliver (artist born, 1804). Could you do the same for some other material that I will add. And could you direct me to a place that tells me how to do it? I appreciate your help BFP1 (talk) 18:44, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
@BFP1: No problem! Please let me know if there's any specific articles that you'd like me to take a look at. There are some helpful guidelines at MOS:BLOCKQUOTE. It defines a long quote as more than about forty words or a few hundred characters, or consisting of more than one paragraph, regardless of length. Feel free to just copy the formatting I used to other articles. DanCherek (talk) 18:52, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks Dan. Could you edit the Oliver article mentioned for me? The 'naming' procedure looks similar to that used for multiple uses of the same reference. Would you use the same 'oliver' name for different blocks, or a different name for each different block? Sorry if it's a silly question. BFP1 (talk) 22:18, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
Done – take a look at it now and see if you like that. Not a silly question at all, and I now realize that naming the reference "oliver" was not very intuitive because they are all about Oliver, so I have renamed it "Art Journal", the name of the publication. DanCherek (talk) 22:54, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks again for the extra editing. The article looks much better. I will save the guidelines given above. What attracts senior editors to particular articles? Is it because they have newly arrived? An interest in the subject matter? Or other reasons?. Whatever it is, it is much appreciated. BFP1 (talk) 08:08, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
I review reports from a bot that checks for potential copyright violations, and in this case the bot matched the text in the quotation to the text from the source. So obviously this wasn't a violation and the bot got it wrong (as it does sometimes, that's why each report is reviewed by a human), but that's how I found this particular article. Besides that, there are new page reviewers that look at newly-created articles to ensure that they are free of spam or other policy violations. DanCherek (talk) 17:37, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
Hello, DanCherek. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 10:56, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Women in Red has long lists, - I found an Ukrainian singer - and than found out she was Polish ;) - For these two, things were easy because they work in Germany, France, Uruguay, so we have languages that Deepl can handle. The composer is already in prep. The soprano should be no problem for DYK. - I even saw her on stage, twice, in the Fauré mentioned and the Nielsen not yet mentioned, but didn't remember the name ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:33, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
Thank you! - The Munich opera house was also illuminated blue and yellow but my camera got only a weak impression. A huge Ukrainian flag on top of the cupola, and another large one covering the Contessa when she took the curtain call, afterwards she and the conductor held it between them. - St. Patrick's Day, more music and today's sunset --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:47, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
I was trying to add a Wikipedia page on the South Orange Rescue Squad. I wanted to get started on it so I copied some text from the website. It was flagged for a “speedy delete” and that is my fault for copying the text from their website.
Is there anything I should know regarding adding this agency to Wikipedia? It is a nonprofit organization and operates under the south Orange Village office of emergency medical services (OEMS) and I believe that it is an integral part of South Orange, NJ for the past 70 years.
I’m reaching out to you because your profile was listed as a point of contact under the speedy delete message.
Hi IAMDOGEY! While the page was deleted as a copyright violation (so be sure to write in your own words in the future), one important thing to consider is that organizations are considered notable enough for Wikipedia if and only if they have been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. This is a rather strict criterion, and you can read more about it at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). This generally means that you should provide citations to multiple independent sources that cover it in detail, and simply relying on their own website won't be sufficient. Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 22:31, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
That definitely helps and I will ensure that there are multiple varied and independent sources before making the page.

Hi Westnilemusic, welcome to Wikipedia! You can read WP:YFA for a detailed guide on how to create your first article. It will take you through the steps to create a draft that can be submitted for review. Important things to keep in mind are that the article's topic should be notable. This generally means that it has already been covered in detail in good references from independent sources. Writing an article from scratch can be really tough for new editors, so if you are finding it challenging, I would encourage you to edit existing articles for a while to get the hang of things. Let me know if you have additional questions or need more detailed guidance! DanCherek (talk) 15:02, 2 April 2022 (UTC)

Important things to keep in mind are that the article's topic should be notable. This generally means that it has already been covered in detail in good references from independent sources. I see that you have tried to write about yourself in the past. I was simply fulfilling your WP:RX request for all mentions of Amos Dresser in the Cincinnati Daily Gazette circa 1835. When someone makes a bulk request like that, it doesn't make sense for me (someone who knows nothing about the article) to try to separate the wheat from the chaff. A personal request
Hello Dan Cherek! I have recently re-nominated for GA an article I have worked on for awhile now that I don't think got a fair and reasonable assessment in its last failed effort. My experience with you is that you are fair and reasonable, so I would like to ask you if you would consider looking at it - even if you can't take on a review right now, your input would be valuable. I am taking you at your word - I like to branch out and work on articles about unfamiliar and interesting people, places, and things - and hope you will take a look at Christianization of the Roman empire. Bless you! Hope you are well. Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:21, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi Jenhawk777, good to hear from you and hope you're doing well too! I hate saying no but I am spread pretty thin right now between various on-wiki projects (Geoffrey of Monmouth for The Core Contest, Durian at FAR, and copyright cleanup), and real-life stuff too. Christianization of the Roman Empire is an impressively detailed article—a testament to your efforts—but I'm not sure that I would be able to give this my usual level of attention when I review things, so I will have to decline unfortunately. Good luck and I hope it gets picked up soon! DanCherek (talk) 22:25, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
That's all right, I understand. Do you know anyone with an interest in sociology? I think it was a lack of knowledge of both sociology and current scholarship - with some predispositions - that were the causes of a quick fail, and now it has that strike against it. It's been distressing, because WP needs the newest scholarship in this area posted somewhere, and there are a lot of people out there that are having trouble letting go of what they are familiar with. I need someone with an open mind. I am anxious about it. I appreciate you. Maybe another time. Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:40, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for you reply. I think i've changed it as much as i can now. Hope it's now ok reinsert in the article (see my talk page). Many thanks. Koppite1 (talk) 12:06, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
Question about current article progress
Hey DanCherek, I was just wondering if you could check current progress on the Limna article in my sandbox. I was considering moving it to a draft but I don't want immediate criticism after submission, instead helpful messages in the talk page if it's created in the main namespace. That was a little offtopic, however TLDR; Could you see how the current lead is on the Limna article in my sandbox? SoyokoAnis - talk | PLEASE PING 19:34, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi SoyokoAnis, hope you're doing well! Creating it in your userspace is perfectly fine, it's great for going at your own pace and I do that with a lot of my article drafts as well. I think you're off to a good start – the Handelsblatt article looks like a decent source. With an article like this, the biggest hurdle is probably going to be clearly establishing notability, for which the bar is a bit higher for companies and organizations. So you will want to identify more coverage in other reliable sources and use them to flesh out the article some more. Best of luck! DanCherek (talk) 19:40, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
okay no food - another Ukraine day today: Maks Levin DYK, expanding Kyiv Symphony Orchestra (have tickets), and creating Anthony Robin Schneider, the bass who could be heard opening the singing in Beethoven's Ninth twice on 10 March 2022, live in Frankfurt, Germany, and recorded in Auckland, New Zealand, singing "Freiheit!" Enjoy the concert (second try)! Work is getting extraordinarily busy, unfortunately, so haven't quite gotten to all of my on-wiki priorities but it's still on the to-do list. DanCherek (talk) 13:16, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
almost at the same time, I uploaded a pic of the violinist coming for bows after playing it (or the encore ...), conductor clapping - thank you! - Can you perhaps help with the Serhiy Kot nom? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:58, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi AneesAishu, welcome to Wikipedia! We don't have account numbers here. Instead, editors are identified by their username – so "DanCherek" for me and "AneesAishu" for you. Let me know if you have any other questions. DanCherek (talk) 15:26, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Reading Beans, thanks for the report! Indeed – I have removed some text that had been copied from two sources. I ran the remainder through Earwig's Copyvio Detector and didn't see anything else (there are some matches to websites that copied from Wikipedia), but let me know if I missed anything. Hope you're doing well! DanCherek (talk) 11:33, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Hey, I didn't realize this was here, very helpful! I'm actually trying to figure out the best place to list articles I'd like to use for a page I want write up. I was wondering if there's a simply way to do that on my home or user page? It would be much easier for me than keeping a separate doc. Thanks! --Donna's Cyborg (talk) 01:49, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Donna's Cyborg! Definitely – a lot of editors use their user sandbox for something like that. Just go to User:Donna's Cyborg/sandbox, click the button to start the page, add whatever you want, and then click "Publish changes". (Note that while it won't be an actual article, other editors are still able to see anything that you publish there.) You can also create pages with different titles in your userspace depending on how you want to organize things. Just change the page name, for example User:Donna's Cyborg/notes. Hope that helps! DanCherek (talk) 01:56, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
It looks like many of your edits in the past few days have been reverted because they've consisted only of additions like "the story in 2058" or "ep 1", which don't make much sense in context. DanCherek (talk) 19:19, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
My talk archive
Hey, first off — thanks for doing my technical request so quickly, and I do appreciate it. Can you move User talk:SirDot/Archive/3 to just /Archive 3 to keep it inline with the other archive changes? And also, was the right venue for archives actually WP:RM/TR? – SirDot (talk) 12:31, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
@SirDot: Done, happy to help. Yes, RM/TR is the right place for any uncontroversial moves that you aren't able to complete, and your own talk archives generally fall under "uncontroversial" since you have control of those. DanCherek (talk) 12:37, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Abdul Latif Abdul Khaliq! You can read WP:YFA for a detailed guide on how to create your first article. It will take you through the steps to create a draft that can be submitted for review. Important things to keep in mind are that the article's topic should be notable. This generally means that it has already been covered in detail in good references from independent sources. Additionally, if you have any connection with the subject of your draft, you will need to provide a required disclosure – see the conflict of interest guideline for more information about that.Writing an article from scratch can be really tough for new editors, so if you are finding it challenging, I would encourage you to edit existing articles for a while to get the hang of things. Let me know if you have additional questions or need more detailed guidance! DanCherek (talk) 04:24, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
article review
Hello
If you remember, today, I posted an article called DirectDL. With your guidance, I have put a copy of a part of the article at the end of the article. But this article has not been approved yet. May you review the article again and confirm if possible? 2A01:5EC0:1801:2139:B87A:5752:96FB:41BF (talk) 19:36, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
thanks very much, but i have question from you. how can 4-month website have big references? please accept this references E V I L044 (talk) 20:35, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
You're right – it's not surprising that a new website like that doesn't have a lot of significant coverage, but that is generally the metric by which notability is evaluated on Wikipedia because reliable sources should be the foundation of every article. The websites that you linked in the draft are more promotional than anything, so no, I don't think it has a reasonable chance of being accepted. DanCherek (talk) 20:38, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
please, please please accept the references. I will do whatever you say, if you order, i start write this article from top to bottom; but please accept this references. if you say, i start every you want. but about refrence, i cant E V I L044 (talk) 20:46, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
My opinion is that there does not exist enough published reliable coverage about DirectDL anywhere to warrant an article at this time, so I do not believe it can be improved to a point where it would be accepted. Please see Wikipedia:Reliable sources for the relevant policy about sourcing standards. DanCherek (talk) 20:57, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
I have seen your new edit and still do not believe it can be accepted at this time. If I was reviewing it now, I would certainly decline it for the same reasons as explained above. Instead, I will leave it in the queue and let another reviewer give you a second opinion. DanCherek (talk) 04:26, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
how to move this drift to the public one? if I don't have the more(move) option in wikipedia's editor page means how to enable that --DKZ-arisfandom (talk) 05:24, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
Hey DanCherek, I'm new to editing (been enjoying Wikipedia for years) and it looks like I went about this the wrong way.
I have a client that wants their page updated (as the current language is potentially libelous) and they also want to add some depth to their story, which is pretty shallow right now.
I've read the remarks and messages I received, so we will take another crack at it in a couple of days.
Hi! There are a few different issues here. Since you are editing on behalf of a client, you'll need to provide the proper disclosure according to WP:COIDISCLOSEPAY – that means disclosing the relationship on your user page, on the talk page of the article, and/or in your edit summaries. This disclosure is required by the Terms of Use. Be sure to read the policies and guidelines on paid editing and conflicts of interest. I see you have been trying to copy text from Brentwood Academy's website into that article. Even if it was licensed compatibly, it was extremely promotional – some of it was basically pure advertising – and not appropriate for Wikipedia, where articles are written from a neutral point of view and supported by reliable, independent sources.Once you have reviewed the conflict of interest guidelines, I recommend suggesting any future edits that you'd like to make on the talk page of the article, using edit requests. You may find the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard helpful. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 20:12, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Melody (Skoryk)
On 19 May 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Melody (Skoryk), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Melody, originally composed by Myroslav Skoryk for a 1982 Soviet film, was used in Volodymyr Zelenskyy's broadcast to the U.S. Congress in March 2022? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Melody (Skoryk). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Melody (Skoryk)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Thanks for the motivation – I'd never have written the article if you hadn't introduced me to the piece! Well done on Tishchenko. DanCherek (talk) 11:37, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
Hello DanCherek I hope you're doing well. I came across your edit on a page I added reception you fixed then. Would you mind looking at the article Dhadkan reception, and doing the same thing. Thank you, stay safe C1K98V(💬✒️📂)04:19, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
Dan thank you for sending me an email today. I wish you would have contacted me via email before you removed the information that I added today to this wiki page.
I do have the copyright and direction from my client to update this page. I would enjoy communication from you on the right way to put that information back into Wikipedia as I am going to be updating all of the awards and films and acting information. Bondservant2 (talk) 02:43, 21 May 2022 (UTC)

I will point out, however, that Wikipedia is primarily interested in what reliable sources have to say about a particular subject, not what it says about itself, and articles should be based on reliable, independent, secondary sources. Most of the content that you added to the article was unsourced and too promotionally written for an encyclopedic article.Once you have reviewed the conflict of interest guidelines, I recommend suggesting any future edits that you'd like to make on the talk page of the article, using edit requests. Archiving notice
Hey! During your moving of Talk:NORAD, you forgot to update the archive location. All you need to do is adjust the |archive= parameter in the {{User:MizaBot/Config}} template to the new page name. Don't worry, I've fixed this for you. Just keep this in mind if you move a page in the future. Thanks! Aidan9382(talk)15:31, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.
Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.
In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 850 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 827 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.
This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.
If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here. Sent 05:17, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
- for your CE of the newsletter. If you're happy with it after comparing the original draft and my text (compare the diffs from the history page) I'll send it on behalf of the original author. I would very much appreciate it if you have a moment, if you could CE a couple of my recent new articles (they don't show in the feed unless you select 'Created by Kudpung' in the filters). I'm getting old and am no longer a very accurate typist and pianist (arthritis in my fingers).
BTW, keep up the good work - you might wish to consider running for adminship in the not too distant future - one of my creations is this advice page. Don't be put off by the apparent toxic nature of RfA, if you are confident and at least pass myRfA criteria you'll almost certainly be given the mop. You can also try your luck at the ORCP first. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:47, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Kudpung, thanks for the kind message. The newsletter looks good to me but I'll let you, MB, or another editor make the final call on that. Happy to give those articles a quick copyedit – will get on that shortly! DanCherek (talk) 03:02, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your copyedits. I liked to think I turn out some good stuff but it's amazing what happens when someone else takes a look! I'm beginning to forget a lot of what I learned about our MoS. It was once my dream to get this which I largely wrote myself (but was not the original creator) to FA before I start pushing up daisies, but can you imagine what a monster work it would be? One of its great contributors is sadly no more as are possibly some of the others. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:26, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Happy to help! Really well done on the Malvern article – that was a great read, and sorry to hear about Michael. DanCherek (talk) 12:25, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
A kitten for you!
Thanks for reverting those edits by IP on Allahabad and Faizabad related articles.
I swear, the whole reason I made the request was because I had made an attempt, but I got an error message. I must’ve not changed it as completely as I thought I had in that first attempt--CreecregofLife (talk) 00:54, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
