Project News In an attempt to improve articles, there is talk of forming a collaboration between a few Wikipedians. The current project is to improve Hurricane Camille to FA status in time for its 40th anniversary this August. There is still plenty of work to be done, so if you're interested, any help would be appreciated. Additionally, there is a recent discussion on the WPTC talk page about establishing a notability criteria. There was talk in the past of instating one, although this time the proposal is backed up by interpretations of existing Wikipedia policy. The proposal would limit articles to tropical cyclones that have at least one independent, reliable source other than any warning centers. Excluding cross-basin, off-season, or 64+ knot cyclones, the proposal would affect 26 articles, none of which affected land or lasted for an appreciable amount of time. It's strongly recommended you answer the optional questions for you RfA. If you leave them unanswered, you will most likely receive opposes. Best of luck, Malinaccier (talk) 16:29, 10 April 2009 (UTC) RFAHello. You might want to review and ponder User:Dlohcierekim/questions. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 02:01, 10 April 2009 (UTC) In reviewing your edits I don't see experience in admin related areas. This is not an automatic disqualifier because of your article building and because you seem like a civil, even tempered user who is able to discuss differences of opinion and who is not prone to flying off the handle. Before allowing your RFA to go forward, you might want to review the Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list and look at some of the RFA questions in the RFA's currently extant. This will help you gauge your knowledge base against the expectations of the community. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to other editors for advice, guidance and information. Just so you know, I took all the storms from 1970-2008, sorted them by category, found the average pressure and then the standard deviation myself. Sorry that I didn't really make that clear when I was putting them in the SSHS article, and I can't really cite myself as a source, so you can add them back or leave them out, whichever you want. The introduction to the article suggests implicitely that back in 1998 the IMD did not publish windspeeds (at least I understood that this way and others might do the same), so giving 3-minute wind speeds there seems to be either a mistake or they're at least unsourced. Otherwise you wrote a good season article, which includes some more than the notorius "the storm did that and then moved there and was upgraded then downgraded as it moved again" like in the Pacific typhoon season article 2007. ;-) --Matthiasb (talk) 10:54, 29 May 2009 (UTC) Stay on breakShow some spine! :P ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 12:44, 1 June 2009 (UTC) hurricane forecastsThis is not new research, it is traditional time series anaysis, I posted it again with revisons ad I could not figure out how to reach you, is the an appeal process for your decisions. Rainfall maps for systems impacting MexicoI would need the original data in order to construct the maps. They're not just tracing of SMN maps. Even if I did, Marco's map would likely not cover such a large area of Mexico. Thegreatdr (talk) 18:55, 5 June 2009 (UTC) Re: track map programI installed Mac Ports[1] before installing the program. Just follow the instructions because you will need to install X11 (which comes with your computer) and the development tools. After that you might need to install some other packages, which you can conveniently do with Mac Ports (formerly called Darwin Ports). Gettext was the only one I remember installing[2]. Some of the other stuff you need might come with this package, but check if you're missing anything and use Mac Ports to obtain it. Follow the instructions for the Track Map generator and it should work. If you use Mac Ports you can easily remove all of this. Potapych (talk) 04:02, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Pacific typhoon articlesI noticed you added a bunch of data from JMA into the infoboxes. This discussion settled the issue that the project would use JTWC data in years prior to 2000. I guess you could add 10-min winds (though I don't like how the template displays them) but you shouldn't replace any of the pressures with JMA ones. That makes it too confusing.
