Hi, Mademoiselle Sabina! I had noticed articles, created by you on 1997 and 2002 Worlds. Excellent work on tables and very nice notes there! Thank you for these and other gymnastics-related articles. I am glad to see, that such a great sport gradually becomes represented appropriately in the English Wiki.

I saw the article about Ludmilla--I am glad she's finally named properly and can be easily found. I also noticed the update to your user page. I'm flattered you think so highly of me (sorry to say, I'm not a famous French or American gymnast. It would have been nice to compete at that level, though!), and find your profile very interesting (see, I could never solve the Rubik's Cube; I just used to cheat by peeling the stickers off. :)

I'll be away from Wiki for a little while (nothing serious)...if I see something that needs immediate attention I'll do minor edits but I won't be able to do much here for the next week or so. As concerns my name, a consonant "r" in Russian is pronounced very differently from the English one. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and I respect that, and I respect your right to say what you will here on your page. I'm not attacking you. I'm just saying I strongly, vehemently disagree with it.

For my piece...I happen to be straight, but as far as I'm concerned, love knows no boundaries of gender, and it's not for me to judge or condemn. If I did, well, I'd be hurting a lot of friends and relatives I care very deeply about.

If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. As mentioned in the article about GSE, the encyclopedia was translated into English and printed in New York and London. But I couldn't point out exact volume/page of it, hence I provided a ref. to the Russian edition. However, I've just added a web English-language ref., not very detailed though... Thanks for adding the reference. If I read things correctly, the new Sport-Express, launched in 1991, is a different publication from Sovietsky Sport and (one of) the main reason(s) for the decline in circulation of Sovietsky Sport. I think this needs to be worked into the Sovietsky Sport article because it is a key factor. Without that, the reference doesn't seem to make much sense.

As for the Hairy ball theorem, no I don't work in the field. My mathematical expertise only extends as far as 1st year university level, but I am interested in maths and physics topics, and science topics generally. I am strictly a reader of these, rather than a writer. As I say on my user page, I arrived there by accident (from Tokamak as I recall), after becoming absorbed and diverted while doing some serious research on behalf of a good friend. Well, my expertise extends to 6-year university level, and we hadn't a course on algebraic topology :) But I'm very interested in functional analysis and general topology. This is off-topic, of course, as I don't contribute to math-related topics in Wikipedia. It says in the Missing wikipedians page Please do not add people to this list who were never an integral part of the community. Most of the people in the list made well over 1,000 edits. Oh, no! Unfortunately, I am not able to read in Danish. I just translated the main words in the sentences and found, that their essence corresponds to that of the translation, which I have. This is great, that you can translate everything without actually studying the language! I noticed that the article can be improved, because I've just read this great story and still under impression. Perhaps, after a week or so, I should not be able to recall all those details. That's also the reason for my rather restraining myself on Wikipedia, just sporadically correcting some overly embarassing mistakes or contributing to articles on topics concerning the Soviet Union and other former socialist countries, for example my (far from finished) rewordings of the János Kádár article or my continuous work on the German version of the Andropov article (to name but two favourites of mine). Hi, Do you have any knowledge about the place Astapovo. I've just created this tiny article as a begining. As this is the dath place of Leo Tolstoy, it could be of interest if someone expand it. Most of the info available about this place seems in Russian. I searched and there is no catogery called 'Russian Wikipedians', so it was difficult to find someone...At the end i got you from the edits on the USSR article. :)

Hi cmapm, I would like to resolve our differences of opinion. I answered your comments on the discussion page, byut you have not responded. I don't want to leave it at that if we can find a way to work to improve the essay. I tried to write to your email address, i.e., in a more private way, but that seems not to be available. If we can communicate in some other way, I would be happy to do so.

I hope you come to see that I am trying to give an accurate picture, and I have no other agenda than that. I do social science, I am not a politico. I also mentioned that I can supply quite a bit of data that might make a useful reference for the discussion, and then readers would see why there was a puzzle to solve.

Two things that would be helpful, I think, are annual figures for life expectancy, separately for males and females; and annual figures on the infant mortality rates.

Here are the infant mortality figures. If you are interested in the life expectancy figures, let me know and I will post that information here also. As I mentioned in my note in the Discussion, all of the initial focus of those who were proclaiming a health crisis in the Soviet Union was on the changes in infant mortality from 1970-74. At the time they were writing about this in 1980, Goskomstat had already stopped publishing the figures for years after 1974. Later, as I mentioned, the publication of detailed figures resumed after 1986 (and glasnost'), and so the entire series of figures became available as I report it to you here. Dear Cmapm, I hope your Wikibreak will soon be over. Being a registered user of WP for less than four weeks, I now already for the first time experienced the immense "stress" WP can generate when you are confronted with small-minded people that are (obviously for ideological reasons) unable of even a simple compromise and risk a childish editing war instead. In the end, I have given up because I realised that is was meaningless to argue any longer. (The subject, by the way, was originally the silly term "Goulash communism" and finally only a simple year date.) Hello, could you please check this article? It is presumed that the only children railroad is in Minsk, whereas there are others in such Soviet towns as Yaroslavl. I have changed the title of both articles to better English language equivalents - Children's railway and Children's Railroad (Minsk). I have also changed the related category to Category:Children's railways, and placed it under a category for narrow gauge only. Well, I think GSE --> GRE is not much more than a name change. I didn't check, but I am willing to bet the same people are doing it, in the very same building. They kept many (too many!) old articles, added some new ones, employed a new typesetting technique and that's it. I think the same story with "Советский Энциклопедический Словарь" which is now called "Российский Энциклопедический Словарь". I would vote for incorporation of GRE into GSE or the other way around (probably the latter is better, actually). In the meantime, I say we should get rid of the red links.
