@Class455fan1: I enjoyed reading your article and translated it to German. Now I have two questions:
- Would it be good to install a link to trainspotting somewhere?
- I do not understand the quote on "The Holy Grail of the Rail". Is that a common name of a specific train, to which a link could be installed? --NearEMPTiness (talk) 20:50, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- @NearEMPTiness: thanks mate! I will put the link to train spotting in, but the show did have an aim to make more people go Trainspotting, so I'd need to find a source per WP:VERIFY. Secondly, The Holy Grail of the Rail part- I was going to put the trains they set in a table, unfortunately I haven't yet learned how to create a wikitable. Within the next few days I will figure this out. Thanks! Class455fan1 (talk) 21:50, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comments. Editing tables is (initially) a bit complicated. I propose that you start in the "Sandbox". A tab with a link to your Sandbox is shown at the very top end of the page. Then you click "Edit" as if you want to enter normal text. In the blue bar which then appears above the text box, in which you can enter text, there is a table symbol just a bit right of the word "Insert". If you click this, you can adjust an empty table to the number of rows and line required. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 05:08, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
You reversed changes I made to the "The Thin Red Line" cast of characters because it "did not appear constructive." What I did was erase character first names that are not supported by any of the material both in the novel, the script, or the existing film. Many of those first names are someone else's fanciful input and nothing more. I just erased the first names of characters that are never mentioned in any of the supportive texts. So, for instance, "Pvt. Brian Tills" because simply "Pvt. Tills." He never gets a first name, so he shouldn't have a made-up first name just to add false "shading." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.169.157.212 (talk) 13:15, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- How would anyone know that these changes are genuine? After all, you could be making it up. If you are making a change like this, then please make an effort to cite your source. Also, if this is a major change, you may need to gain consensus from other editors on the talk page. See WP:Consensus. But the thing that caught my eye was the fact that you changed some of the characters names. Thats why you were warned for vandalism. Please do not do that again. Thank you. Hi Class455 - I guess I can refer to you by this name now! I was wondering, is there any specific reason why you wish to be renamed on an exact date? It can be done sooner - my username was Chesnaught555 and when I requested a name change it was done overnight. Hope this helps if you'd like it done sooner - obviously I can't change it but I think the link you're looking for is Special:RenameUser or something along those lines. :-) Regards, --Zerotalk 10:51, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ignore the link - that's for people with a specific user right. --Zerotalk 10:52, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Patient Zero, good to hear from you again. I tried to do that process until the bot told me that there was already a global account with this name, so I withdrew my request, but the account-registered on the commons had 0 edits, so I had to request on Meta for my name on all Wikiprojects to be changed. however K6ka told me that they'll have to wait a month to see if the user responds to my usurp request and then the magic happens. I do wish it could be sooner but that's meta for you. Class455fan1 (talk) 14:27, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, I see - that is a tad frustrating. I suppose if the other Class455 does not respond, would that simply suggest inactivity/possible indifference to the name change? I wonder. --Zerotalk 15:20, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Patient Zero If he isn't active within a month, the usurpation will take place regardless (man I hate the word "usurp"). So I hear you must be around the same age as me (as me and you both did GCSE's this summer). Sorry if you find this a bit personal but what are your plans for next year? Class455fan1 (talk) 22:26, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- OK - I agree with you on the word "usurp", sounds hideous. We are the same age (I'm 16 years and 9 months old). I don't mind answering that at all - I'm staying within my school's sixth form, and studying French, English, History, Religious Studies and the Welsh Baccalaureate at A level. What about you? :-) --Zerotalk 11:00, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- I also plan to stay on in my sixth form, I plan on studying Geography, Computer Science and Spanish. You are slightly older than me (I am 15 years and 11 months, will be 16 two weeks on Sunday). However this all depends on the grades. If i don't make it, I've got a place at a college. Slightly nervous about results but I'm just enjoying the long holiday I have! :). Class455fan1 (talk) 12:23, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- Indeed - I very nearly did Spanish, unfortunately I was the only one who chose the option. I'm getting my results in August. I too am enjoying my holiday - I'll be away next month! :-) --Zerotalk 12:52, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- Mine are out on the 23rd (nearly a month away, shit!) Is that when you get yours? Class455fan1 (talk) 23:21, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- Same here - 23rd. I am nervous about receiving them, although I'd like to think my exams went well. :-) --Zerotalk 09:31, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Have the total number of viewers of the Trainspotting Live show by now been published? Unfortunately, I cannot access the data myself. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 16:25, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, they have. will add to the article now with a citation. Class455fan1 (talk) 16:38, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have copied them to the German Wikipedia. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 18:30, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- NearEMPTiness You recreated the article on the German Wikipedia??? Thats cool! I had a look just now, looks like its been transwiki'd. How do you do that? I edited there but for some reason, pending changes is applied there (don't know why), and you may have figured out that the edit summary I left was translated from english (as i don't know any German, sorry!), but I went to Stuttgart in June, and I loved it there! Out of interest, which part of Germany do you come from? Class455fan1 (talk) 19:15, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- First I created a new article in English language. Then I pressed the "New Request" button on WP:IMP and entered the names of the old English and my new German article. The rest was done by a helpful administrator using a script.
- The idea behind these imports is to give credit to the foreign authors according the obligations of citing a Creative Commons licenced article. In the English Wikipedia it works so far only, if the English article is new, i.e. if no stub had been created at an earlier stage. This service can also be used if you want to split one long English article into two shorter ones.
- I noted your German text in the summary line, but I did not know, that this had been automatically translated. I real life I am a friction stir welding expert, and thus I like friction stir welded trains as Class 395. My passion are narrow gauge trains and virtual train spotting, i.e. finding and uploading suitable railway photographs onto Wikimedia Commons.
- Finally, I grew up in Tübingen near Stuttgart, lived 14 years in the UK and now near Frankfurt. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 06:25, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- NearEMPTiness Tubingen is on the edge of Stuttgart. When I went to Stuttgart, I stayed on the other side of the suburbs of Stuttgart in a village called Hochdorf (within Eberdingen), near Ludwigsburg. What also fascinated me was the similarity of the names of two nearby towns, Eberdingen and Schwieberdingen. Ive only ever been on a Class 395 once, but hopefully some day I will go on another. Isn't the new Intercity Express use friction stir weld material? Class455fan1 (talk) 22:48, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for having notified me where the edit-warring boomerang receiver failed to do so himself. Yeah, I can defo add the "case" to another one of those hilarious "complaints" filed against me by WP:SPA/WP:AGENDA/WP:SOCK accounts who fail to grasp any WP rule, but unfortunately know very well how to spam the revert button, and ignore the reliable sources as much as they can. Oh well. Btw, I made a check some minutes ago, and it seems that, unfortunately, said user is now doing the exact same thing on different pages. Bests - LouisAragon (talk) 02:43, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

I looked at the revision history of the Irving Berlin page and could not see my name there. Might you be able to refresh my memory as to what my edit was? I can't recall ever doing an edit as a test, though I might on occasion have done an edit and then had second thoughts and removed it…

- Morganfw I sent an IP that message, so unless you've been editing logged out (which you should not be doing), that wasn't for you. I don't see a warning left on your talk page's history. Hello! How Dare You Say I Am Adding Unsourceful Info! I Am Actually Doing A Great Job, Thank You Very Much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freddie Red (talk • contribs) 08:01, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
- Freddie Red Wikipedia has a policy that information you add must be verifiable by a reliable source. Please read the policy here. Any content you add which is not backed up by a source will be reverted and you will end up receiving a warning. Hopefully this won't apply to you but the worst case scenario is that you can be blocked from editing if you keep on adding unsourced content. Otherwise we and the readers do not know whether this information is true or not. Hope this helps. Many thanks. Class455 (talk) 17:57, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi Class455 - I remember you saying you wished to nominate me for adminship. I'm just bringing it to your attention that I have started a poll on WP:ORCP - if I do OK over there, I will be more than happy to accept your nomination. I've stated there that I wish to apply within a month (and October would be a good time due to the fact that I will be turning 17). Thanks, Zerotalk 12:50, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
- Patient Zero. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I want to participate and give a 10/10 but I'm not sure whether i'll be reverted for breaking a policy or not. You also have experience in content creation, which is great. I will watch the poll closely, and if successful in October, I will gladly nominate you for admin ship. Hope you are doing well. I've still got another 10 and a half months to wait till I turn 17! Class455 (talk) 12:56, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hmm, I can't think of any policies you'd be violating - but what I will say is, I think I'm going to wait until I'm an adult now. I didn't get favourable reviews over there so I'm going to change my focus. Thanks for your offer, though. :-) Zerotalk 15:23, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

If you would like to see more details you can read the project proposal at Research:Measuring editor time commitment and workflow (on meta), but if you are feeling bold and would like just like to sign up right now you can add the line importScript("User:Another_Article/workflowstudyclient.js"); to your common.js . Contact User:Another Article if you have any questions about this study!
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information. For more information about the columns and categories, please consult the documentation and please get in touch on SuggestBot's talk page with any questions you might have.
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly; your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. -- SuggestBot (talk) 12:02, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi,
I have corrected a term you placed on your userpage relating to your previous name. I have replaced "Formally" with "Formerly", as the former relates to the word formal, not with past tense. Hope its ok. Nordic Nightfury 14:56, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hey Nordic Nightfury, LOL, it must have been an autocorrect issue while I was writing that sentence, as I was using a Mac, but thanks for doing that! I very much appreciate it. Hope you're doing well! Class455 (talk) 19:52, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Changes this week
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 4 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 5 October. It will be on all wikis from 6 October (calendar).
Meetings
You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 4 October at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
Tidy will be replaced. Instead the HTML 5 parsing algorithm will be used to clean up bad HTML in wikitext. This would cause problems on a number of wikis. They need to be fixed first. [45]
<slippymap> will not work on Wikivoyage after 24 October. You should use <mapframe> instead. If you need help to fix this before 24 October you should ask for it as soon as possible. [46]

We'd like to invite you to participate in a user study closely related to SuggestBot. User:Another Article is seeking to understand more about the workflow and time commitment of contributors to the English Wikipedia. As part of this study you will occasionally be prompted to answer questions about your editing activity, and these questions should never take more than a minute or two to complete. The intended length of the study is two weeks, but your actual time commitment is totally up to you. If you would like to see more details you can read the project proposal at Research:Measuring editor time commitment and workflow (on meta), but if you are feeling bold and would like just like to sign up right now you can add the line importScript("User:Another_Article/workflowstudyclient.js"); to your common.js . Recent changes
- You can show Special:RecentChanges on a page by using
{{Special:RecentChanges}} . You can now use tag filters by using {{Special:RecentChanges/tagfilter=tagname}} . [47]
- The notification badge is coloured if you have notifications. When you check the notification the badge will now turn grey on all wikis instead of just the local one. [48]
- Colours used in the Wikimedia wikis' main interface changed slightly. This is to make them easier to see for readers and editors with reduced eyesight. [49]
Changes this week
- Hidden HTML comments will be more visible when you edit with the visual editor.
<!-- You write hidden HTML comments like this. --> [50]
The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 11 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 12 October. It will be on all wikis from 13 October (calendar).

Future changes
- Language converter syntax will soon no longer work inside external links. Wikitext like
http://-{zh-cn:foo.com; zh-hk:bar.com; zh-tw:baz.com}- must be replaced. You will have to write -{zh-cn: http://foo.com ; zh-hk: http://bar.com ; zh-tw:http://baz.com }- instead. This only affects languages with Language Converter enabled. Examples of such languages are Chinese and Serbian. [51]
