Template:WPWesterns Category

Hey, is Template:WPWesterns Category needed? It's unused at the moment. Gonnym (talk) 11:51, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

Hmmm... that's a good question. I think it was intended to be used on the Westerns categories and wasn't implemented. But I will research this and circle back before I commit to an answer. ButlerBlog (talk) 12:56, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

@Gonnym: I think it was originally created to note empty assessment categories in the Westerns project. Obviously, it wasn't implemented and as near as I can tell (and/or recall), all the assessment categories note the empty category info as part of their template. So... it does not appear to be needed. I think it could be tagged for deletion. ButlerBlog (talk) 17:49, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

I don't plan any Admin action, but do you think I'm right? I've always felt pretty strongly that NPOV tags need to be accompanied by a section with specific details of what part of NPOV has been violated. Otherwise any editor, especially new ones, can tag them and no one may have a clue what it's about. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 12:10, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

@Doug Weller: I think you're spot on, Doug. On a practical note, it makes no sense to tag an article without a specifically related discussion about the NPOV issues (which he has not done). When viewed along with editing history, he seems to be WP:POINTY editing because of yesterday's reversions. ButlerBlog (talk) 12:20, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
