Hello Mr. Pranav, and thank you for reaching out to me. As I said on my fledgling user page, I'm a longtime reader of Wikipedia hoping to make a more regular thing of contributing, particularly to articles concerning birds and local history (mainly New England for me).

I started a teahouse conversation the other day because some of the edits I would like to do involve taking out needless trivia, cruft as someone called it. Though I see an overstuffed and ill proportioned article as being, because of the off putting effect on a reader, almost as bad as a scanty or wrong one, I want to proceed with consideration. I would find it helpful if you could point out any relevant policies or projects that come to mind, as I am not skilled in navigating the forest of WP: and so forth.

I find it an interesting philosophical question how Wikipedia should coexist with sources like Cornell Lab's eBird which have come to dominate their (sometimes narrow) realms in mind boggling detail.

As it is, I plan to cautiously start editing the article Monk Parakeet with an eye to the sort of problem I mention above, and I'm curious as to whether it will attract any pushback.

Generally, there is no reason to report usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI: "Only report accounts with edits and do not report those with no edits in the preceding 2 weeks. Do not report a user that has not edited or has not edited in the preceding 2 weeks, except for an instance of an egregious name violation. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but other run-of-the-mill violations such as names of organizations or products need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit, and you should be able to clearly explain what the problem is if it is not immediately evident.

For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our responsibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports. Regarding your close of this RM, you have simply stated "not moved", where this may or may not indicate "consensus against". As noted by CMD, the two previous votes were unrelated to WP:AT and so were subsequent votes. They mostly expressed a personal opinion and WP:OTHERCONTENT arguments which of themself carry little or no weight unless the argument establishes best practice, which itself is a reflection of the prevailing P&G (eg WP:AT). WP:RMCI would state: If objections have been raised, then the discussion should be evaluated just like any other discussion on Wikipedia: lack of consensus among participants along with no clear indication from policy and conventions normally means that no change happens (though like AfD, this is not a vote and the quality of an argument is more important than whether it comes from a minority or a majority). In the RM at Talk:Italian Hockey League - Serie A, one of the options I suggested was "hyphenless formats like Italian Hockey League Serie A [and] Italian Hockey League Division I". The only person who commented said their "inclination would be to also use hyphen-free forms for the men's league levels, though that is not my area of expertise". I did not object to that, so I suggest it should have been closed with a consensus to use those hyphenless formats for those two article titles rather than simply "no consensus". —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 19:26, 31 December 2024 (UTC)

Hi Bunnypranav, thanks for your message about your speedy deletion nomination of Ildiko Kovacs. I am confused - Ildiko Kovacs is a redlink at Bulgari Art Award. I clicked on the redlink and started creating a draft - then realised that when I clicked on Publish, it was in article space, so I moved it to draft space Draft:Ildiko Kovacs. Please could you explain what you have nominated for speedy deletion, and where it is? As far as I can see, the redlink is still in the Bulgari article, and the draft article I have started is also still there. I'm not sure why you would want to delete a redlink? I did not delete a redlink. Ildiko Kovacs is a redlink. When you moved the page to draftspace (i.e. Draft:Ildiko Kovacs), a redirect was created from Ildiko Kovacs to the draft. According to policy, mainspace redirects to draftspace are not allowed. Since this met that criterion, I asked for it to be deleted. Feel free to continue working on your draft at Draft:Ildiko Kovacs. After you are done, submit it using WP:SUBMIT, or just move it yourself. @Awalen321 The article seems to have been declined due to lack of reliable sources (see WP:RS). You moved recently 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + ... for replacing a centered precomposed ellipsis with three dots. The standard in mathematics is that an ellipsis after + must composed of centered dots (·). It was asked at RMTR by @Hairy Dude citing MOS:ELLIPSES, it was also also an oversight on my end that the centered dots were intentional. I will keep an eye out for such errors from now. Hello GracMÓzg, if your edit is Reverted, then you may get a notification depending on your Preferences. Wikipedia:Deletion policy is the part about deleting a page. Only Wikipedia:Administrators can delete a page, and the edits to that page is hidden from public and non admin contributions. See Help:Watchlist for more info.
