I deleted the info because MediaWiki conveniently makes it available via the history. It was certainly useful information, as you said, that needed rewriting, but the article could be without it for a while until someone edited it. I assumed-and of course there will be those who disagree-that leaving it out until it could be properly melded into the rest of the article is better than having a messy article. If it's important, it will be edited and restored.

A) I didn't say it was "absurd," I said it needed editing to fit in with the rest of the article. B) The watchlist (mostly) solves the problem of people looking at the history - you noticed that I removed the information, so you are then able to edit it so that it can be put back into the article. I assume you know more about the topic than I do, since you noticed the edit. Therefore, you noticed it was removed, and thus you are able to solve the problem. Hi. Thanks for your help with Ellacuria's and Martín-Baró's bio's. I plan to work with Segundo Montes' soon. He was a sociologist and did very important work too. I'm currently living in Norway, but I come originally from El Salvador. I studied in the Jesuit high school in San Salvador and went to college in UCA. That's why I'm so interested in writing the biographies of these priests that were murdered in San Salvador. I have many Jesuit friends and know very well people that worked with them. How about you? Actually, it does fit. :) I'm part of the WP:1.0 project (well, kinda) which one of its subprojects are to improve Core topics. I wanted to expand museum greatly but I quickly lost interest. lol. Those secondary lists are more of a preliminary list (which have been forgotten long ago), but yes, I completely agree, folklore should be listed in one of the top lists. You can leave a comment here and it'll be noted. I don't think it'll be part of the 100 or so core topics since culture and other similar topics are there, but you never know. Thanks for your reply. I understand what you are saying. Although I dont think that you grasp what I mean. Many peoples articles immediately state that Cathy is a Irish American politician, or Susan is a French American actress. It is quite common on wikipedia; I am not strategically targeting a certain group. What you said about refering to someone as a "white American President" and a "Protestant American President" is entirely different. Refering to someones skin color is not refering to really a specific race. For instance the white race is divided into many different ethnic groups such as the Slavs, Tuetoens, Mediteranean, baltics, and Jews. It goes for the same for Asians, they may look alike and saying that a Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, are all Asian it is correct in a sense but they are all different ethnic groups. When you say that PHDs are thinking that there is no ethinc group that is nonsense. A black person does not belong to the same race/ethnic group as a Chinese. This is known.

Although refering to someone by their religion is actually common on wikipedia. I see it quite often in opening lines to see John Balt is a Roman Catholic American actor. That is just referring to someones religion which is informative and gives insight to someones personality. Its pleasant to say this is a Italian American actor because each ethnic group has a rich heritage of history and a culture they can be proud of. Henry Kissinger is not really German but ethinically Jewish. He was born in Germany and maintains a German citizenship and could identify as German but he didnt originate from the same ethinic german tribe; he is a semite. That is why he is called a German-Jew. That is like a black man being born in Japan and being considered an ethinc Japanese. He would be identified as a black-Japanese or something along those lines. I hope I cleared this up. Also ones ethnic backround is something to be proud of. If someone said that this person is a French American actress it is done in a positive way, not a negative.

With regard to Henry Kissinger its true and it not only applies to him but others. If I were to move to France, I wouldnt be an ethnic french and I dont belong there. I actually have a French citizenship but I am not ethnically French in any way. I know that I am not really French no matter what political correctness says. No hard feelings I dont belong in Japan, I dont belong in France, and I dont belong in Africa I belong in the sudentenland with my original ethnic people and I am acceptable in Canada, Australia, US, etc but I dont belong in any other country. Also many Jews identify themselves as "German Jews" because it would be incorrect to strictly identify themselves as ethnic Germans. America is a melting pot of a million different cultures so its beneficial and informative for people to state their ethnic backrounds considering there is not one race which originated from this land except for native Americans which are also identified by their ethnic backround.

Now you are starting to see my viewpoint. Mexican-Americans, African-Americans, German Americans, Irish-Americans, are all Americans who just belong to different ethnic backrounds. To identify them as such is something that is informative and pleasant to see on wikipedia. Most people are proud of their heritage and freely state it, I dont see the controversy with identifying someone as a German American, Jewish American, Mexican American etc.

I didnt say all asians look alike but similar just like whites look similar. A Polish American could look just like an English American even if they belong to different ethnic groups; its not a big deal. I didnt mean it in any deragatory way. There are minor distinctions between whites and asians but overall all ethnic groups look the same.

I feel the discussion in the paragraph you deleted has been somewhat hijacked, yes, to reflect some theologically conservative bias. I would repair it, but recently I've been very busy and without the time to devote to this particular article. I think it is important, though, to recognize that the Puebla conference depends on how you frame it. I, personally, think liberation theology hits the nail on the head nine times out of ten, and I think it's incredible that despite conservative control of the Puebla conference and the complete disinvitation of basically the entire theological community of Latin America, the movement had enough strength and enough power to manage to affect the conference and insure that the Puebla documents did reflect their thinking.

I think the movement in Puebla was powerful enough and noteworthy enough to warrant mention. They were a scrappy bunch facing off against some severe repressive powers, and they still achieved their goals and objectives. I don't think that speaks to their oppression; I think it speaks to the power and persuasiveness of their message and the basic power of liberation theology as an intellectual, moral, and theological enterprise. Before I forget, I can easily see the discussion being moved to articles on different subjects, honestly. You are right in the sense that it does not necessarily broaden our definition of what lib. theology is. However, if we could couch it in terms of liberation theology being a broad movement within the church -- and therefore capable of doing what happened at Puebla -- it might actually be helpful to understanding.

As for my philosophy, I know Wikipedia's standards don't ban or prohibit textual deletion without discussion. I just think it's in good form to do so. But being a full-time student, it can be hard sometimes to get enmeshed in the deeper meta-debates over Wikipedia policies and procedures, so for now I just try to get people to discuss before deleting as a matter of politeness to interested parties.

No, Middle Eastern Studies. But I'm also interested in longevity, hence the possibility of someone such as himself being alive interests me. I'm sure some Wikipedians have accounts to sites like ancestry.com, which is probably where they get their information, but my interest tends to stop when I have to pay to find something out. Haha. I'd like to wait to hear from User:Rebecca on the topic before deleting because she's a very experienced Wikipedian and might be able to explain more clearly. I almost never revert other editors, but I thought this probably merited some discussion (if it is a copyvio, it applies to most of the Pulitzer and Nobel pages, not just this one). I think mistakes like that can happen, but with CSD you never know if you're going to get an admin who knows what they are doing or not. Braşov is a beautiful city, and it's big enough that it has lots of excellent restaurants and a surprisingly fun night life. I visited Bucharest a couple of times and didn't enjoy it as much -- only city in Europe where packs of wild dogs roam the street. The Reboot of Wikiproject New Jersey has certainly stirred up some new activity at the project. Discussion on several improvements and new initiatives have been going on at the talk page. There has been an involved discussion regarding our 9 unassessed articles, especially those on municipalities. The current goal is to review and assess all 566 New Jersey muncipality articles by September 30. A suggestion has been made to intiate Wikipedia Takes New Jersey to begin clearing the large backlog of articles needing photos. Let's all grab our cameras and head out into the vast wilds of the Garden State. Town Halls, High Schools, Historic Places - every article deserves a picture. WPNJ member Mm40 has volunteered to coordinate a new WPNJ Collaboration project. It's been a while since we used the NJCOTW and new volunteers are needed. Join the discussion to volunteer. Battle of Trenton was recently proposed as a Featured Article candidate. It was not promoted, but has now been nominated for A-Class review through the Military History WikiProject. The redesign has been well received. There are still some things left to do. This newsletter was one big check mark off the list. Hopefully this can be continued on a regular basis. There are literally thousands of articles in Category:New Jersey that have not been tagged as part of the project, and stub sorting hasn't been run in 10 months. We will need to identify some friendly bot operators to help with these projects. An outreach department (which includes the newsletter) needs to be formalized. Creating an invitation template for easy placement on userpages will also be part of that effort. The Maryland WikiProject has put together a great chart comparing the growth of several state WikiProjects, including WPNJ. Take a look at the chart to see how the growth of WPNJ compares to some of our peer projects. Please remember to place the {{WikiProject New Jersey}} tag on the talk pages of any New Jersey related articles you create or come across. You can also add the new articles page to your watchlist. Some updates have been made to the NJ Portal, but much more needs to be done. If a few volunteers can put together Featured Article summmaries, we can automate rotating the portal content. Wikipedia Release version 0.7	New WPNJ members
The Wikipedia 0.7 project team has chosen the New Jersey related articles that will be included in the next downloadable version of Wikipedia. You can review the list of selected WPNJ articles, check the articles tagged for cleanup, or nominate additional articles for inclusion. Selection is an automated process based on article assessments. To help avoid vandalism and POV concerns, specific versions of articles can be tagged for inclusion in the downloadable release. See the New Jersey section of the bot results to recommend a production version. The process ends on October 20, and then a bot will select an appropriate version if none has been recommended. Both Jon Corzine and The Sopranos were promoted to Good Article status in the past month. No WikiProject New Jersey articles were promoted to Featured article status. Battle of Trenton was not listed as a Featured Article, and may need more editors to complete the remaining work to be promoted. Also, in an item that was missed last month, Thomas Edison was delisted as a Good Article in July. The WPNJ Assessment Drive is ongoing. Please help assess all of the articles about places in New Jersey. There are currently 9 articles that have not been assessed. Fall has arrived, and with it will come a rush of new Wikipedians. Inviting new editors to join WPNJ is easy to do, and can help us improve our New Jersey articles. Keep an eye out for editors who work on NJ articles who can help the project. The Wikipedia Release version project is in its final stages for the next version. Take a look at the article lists, cleanup where you can, and nominate articles that should be included on the DVD version of WP. Education Task Force - The conversion of the former WikiProject Education is New Jersey has been completed. New Jersey education-related articles are now supported by the Education task force. The project banner has been updated to fully support the task force with independent importance ratings. No More Comments - A proposal at the Village Pump has resulted in the deprecation of comments subpages. These were usually found at Talk:Article title/Comments and contained little more than assessment notes. These pages were not widely watched, and are often a hidden location for vandalism and BLP violations. WPNJ has 104 articles that used these pages. A complete list of them, along with their contents, can be viewed at Wikipedia:WikiProject New Jersey/Deprecation of comments. It is up to the members of WPNJ to decide what to do with this information. Municipality template compromise; School Districts (almost) complete	New WPNJ members
Legislative templates in municipal articles - A rather lengthy discussion ran from the end of August until the end of October regarding the use of our legislative district templates in articles about local municipalities. Many WPNJ members commented on the concept, and a proposed compromise seems to have been reached. The templates will require some adjustments to fit the new wording, but should result in more directly relevant sections about County, State, and Federal representation in our articles on cities, towns, villages, townships, and boroughs. Hopefully, more dicussions like this can result is some kind of Manual of Style to bring greater standardization to all of these articles. School District articles now comprehensive - WPNJ Founder Alansohn recently reported that almost all of New Jersey's school districts now have articles - "I have created the article for the last missing (non-vocational) school district in the state." Congrats to Alansohn, who I am sure would love more members at the Education task force to help maintain these articles! New Statistics Table There has been an upgrade to the WP 1.0 bot that updates our project's summary table. The new table lists all page classes including Portal-class, Redirect-class, and Disambig-class. We now have a better picture of the scope of the WikiProject and the pages that we cover. New York Times to charge for access The New York Times is an invaluable resource for properly referencing articles, but especially due to its extensive archives and coverage of New Jersey issues. The announcement that metered content will be started in 2011 has the potential to make article sourcing much more difficult. It also causes a need to update linked sources in articles before all of the NYT links go dead. Any link can be archived on demand by using WebCite. We can help avoid dead links by archiving any article sources from the NYT. All BLP, All the Time	New WPNJ members
BLP Issue Boils Over There are discussions all over the 'pedia about deleting close to 50,000 unreferenced Biographies of Living People. We won't get into a rehash here, but let's just look at what we can do. There is a new item on the project task list for sourcing BLPs. All articles that are in both Category:People from New Jersey and Category:All unreferenced BLPs are now available on this work list. These articles need to be sourced, PRODded, or sent to AfD. An ounce of prevention Unreferenced BLPs are one of the catgories regularly listed in the WPNJ Cleanup listing. New articles are also a prime location to find articles that do not yet have references. You can keep an eye on the New Articles list to help prevent the workload from getting any larger. Can we do more? There are bots that will automatically add the WPNJ Project Banner to all articles in our designated categories if we have consensus to request it. Join the discussion here. New Leaders in NJ Government Over the past 2 weeks, new legislators have been sworn in, the legislature has new leadership, the 55th Governor of New Jersey has been inaugurated, and we have our first Lt. Governor. All new members of the Legislature have at least stub articles, and many of the templates have been updated. Updating templates Many New Jersey articles utilize stadardized templates to convey information. With elections happening as often as they do in this state, January is always a good time to review these templates and update them with new information. Does your town or county have new elected officials? It's maintainance time on many of our articles on municipalities and counties as well.
