IFD Bot(Message copied for continuity)I'm working on finishing the preliminary code for an IFD bot, the current plan is to check all the images in Categories: Images and media for deletion and see if they have been listed in the last 20 days else relist them at the current IFD page. The first run is going to dump to a user sub page as to not flood IFD so an admin will have to go through them (aprox 300). I was looking for input you had and how often you think it should run. YABI: DREFUR(Disputed Replaceable Fair Use Restoration) Go through Category:Replaceable fair use images disputed and restore the REFU tag that might have been removed by the disputer. Probably just re-adding the tag to today's date would be easiest. I did two (that I randomly found) and restoring the tags would have put them in a deletion, already processed category by admins. So just putting in a new REFU tag would be fine. --MECU≈talk 23:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC) While the stub is likely vanity spam by some pornographer, it still concerns some model's persona. WP:PORNBIO establishes a clear and convenient way to evaluate the notability (or lack thereof) of pornographic actresses, the spam guideline is open to some interpretation. As you said, the article will be deleted either way, it's just that I think that WP:CSD#A7 is more applicable. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 21:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion for your botWould it be possible for you to put your bot's {{subst:orfud}} tag up at the top of image description page instead of at the bottom? If the image description page has a lot of stuff on it, you have to scroll to see it if it is not up top. --BigDT 22:59, 10 February 2007 (UTC) I'm not the one who's revert warring. I loathe revert warring, however I am flummoxed to have gotten the warning from you :) To show my good faith I will not make any more edits to the article text for a day. Please feel free to lend me whatever specific advice you might think helpful. If you look at the talk page you'll see that I was discussing every point and trying to compromise. Such is Wikipedia with high profile articles (sigh). Thanks for showing your concern! Gwen Gale 09:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC) Please, helpBjbot has deleted two images I uploaded (Image:Chaltikanaam.gif and Image:Gangulybros01.jpg), along with all the painstaking work that went into rationalizing fair use and citing sources and authors, because they were lying about quite orphaned. Very unfortunate, because I was busy at the time and could not check on WP much, if at all. They were not orphans to begin with, but rather was a part of the Ganguly family (film) article. A certain user (User:Prince Godfather) removed them from the article and reinstated a completely copyvio image gallery removed much earlier from the page. This amazing deed was reverted by another user, but it was too late for the two images I mentioned. Please note, that this particular user has been accused of sockpuppetry, has broken all civility guidelines, contributes a great deal without any regard for verifiability or citation policies, practices vandalism, was blocked from WP once or twice, is engaged in quite a few edit wars... and has responded very unfavorably when I questioned his behavior about the images in discussion. I am checking this user as much as I can, though without the tools available to admins it's quite an arduous task. But, whatever happens to this amazing user, I'd very much like to have those images back on Wikipedia. I have learned the ropes for fair use policies the hard way, and am weary of the task of reinstating the info and rationales that require. It would be very helpful if you could tell me what do I have to do in getting those two images back along with the rationale and info back to the article I mentioned. Can you answer to my talk page, please? Aditya Kabir 15:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC) - sorry for the length of the post.
BJBot - IfD workThere are a couple of problems that I see with the IfD (re)posting that BJBot did this week:
I do appreciate the work your bot is doing. I'd spent a couple of weeks {{orfud}}ing just {{TV-screenshots}} starting with P and Q (and reviewing their uploader's contributions) about the time you started, and it is wonderful to not be able to find orphaned fair use images anymore. I hope that these suggestions are helpful. ~ BigrTex 18:18, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use images from Feb. db dumpHere's the latest batch: User:Alai/fairuseorphans. Must be shrinking significantly, as I could actually upload the whole list this time. Alai 21:27, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Image:Topbar.gifYou can go ahead and delete Image:Topbar.gif. It is the logo for the radio station I work for, but we are currently using another logo. If you delete this, that would be great. Thanks. Thunderstix33 15:40, 15 February 2007 (UTC) BJBot & meHey, I thought you'd get a kick out of this (I did): BJBot notified me of some orphaned fair use images. They weren't really uploaded by me, but they were. I reduced the size of the fair use images and then tagged them so an admin would delete/remove the older, larger resolution images. If you look at the image upload history, it just shows me. So, there's probably not an easy way to really notify the real uploader, unless you start scanning logs. Just found it humorous. --MECU≈talk 15:54, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Portland UndergroundI fail to see how adding a link to the Portland Underground page which pointed to the specific page on the Cascade Geological Society website which mentions the Portland Underground tunnels and tours thereof is "unhelpful and non-constructive" and "could be considered vandalism". The original link was to the top-level page of the society, and some navigation was required to find the material related to the Portland Underground, while my link, which I added next to the original, was much more direct and was intended to avoid wasting the user's time searching the site and clicking through extra pages to find the relevant information. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.245.144.11 (talk) 09:29, 18 February 2007 (UTC).
Orphaned Image- Image:Bearcat.jpgHi! I have tagged this image twice and BJBot constantly removes these tags and tells me that the image is untagged. Maybe I tagged it wrong, but, I doubt it. I tagged the image as a publicity photo, which the image is.--Sportman2 16:25, 17 February 2007 (UTC) But, BJBot removed the copyright tag I put on. Then BJBot left me a message saying the copyright tag was missing. It had nothing to do with it being used or not. Also, the image is being used.--Sportman2 18:24, 17 February 2007 (UTC) I know that BJBot isn't OrphanBot. My point was that I put in a copyright tag after OrphanBot told me it was missing. Then about a month later BJBot left me a message saying Image:Bearcat.jpg had no copyrigh tag. Knowing I had put one on the page for Image:Bearcat.jpg I looked through the article history and noticed BJBot had removed it and replaced the tag with a message saying that the image lacked a copyright tag. Why did BJBot do this? I know for a fact that the copyright tag was correct.--Sportman2 18:35, 17 February 2007 (UTC) The image is being used now.--Sportman2 18:49, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

BJBot and "article oprhans"Is BJBot set up to handle fair use images that are "orphaned" from the article space, but transcluded from other namespaces? My earlier lists haven't included these, but modifying the query turns up an additional 1500 such. Alai 13:44, 21 February 2007 (UTC) OK, here's the list: User:Alai/fairuseartorphans. Let me know if tagging these goes OK, and if it does, I'll include these in the main list next time. On an only-vaguely related note... as you're obviously doing a lot of work in the fair use area, I'm wondering if you happen to know if there's anyone (or anybot) working on systematically removing image uses on non-article pages (or turning them into links, or whatever else). I do know this has attracted some flak in the past when done on user pages, but strangely, the largest number of these seems to be on (article) talk pages, where equally they shouldn't be as I understand it. (Over 36,000 such inclusions.) Alai 02:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC) Thanks AgainBjweeks, I must say, I really appreciate your help, thank you :) .. Communist47's RFAI think you ought to explain to him what's the problem with his nomination. By just closing the RFA unilaterally without significant explanation (to newbies, the edit summary should seem more provocative than helpful), you might probably have accidentally bit him. Though he was POV-pushing and, in your words, snowballing, I think it's better for you to explain clearly what's wrong with his application. Especially remember to put aside the Russian POV thing. He might not understand the real meaning of NPOV here simply because the "facts" described here could well be "conspiracy theories" in his mind. Still believe that direct talk is the best solution to arguments ^^ --Deryck C. 12:04, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure why others don't comment on bot-added noms; maybe they overtrust your bot or overtrust the original nominator? I personally trust your bot really much since machines don't make mistakes; but I don't quite trust the incoming info that your bot relies on, so I usually pinpoint against the noms your bot added. --Deryck C. 12:31, 24 February 2007 (UTC) Please see Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship#Removing RFAs prematurely =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:01, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Fair use images on non-article spaceI know that on User:BJBot a future task is to "Remove fair use images from the userspace." I am worried, however, if bots begin doing so, then user's will begin falsly tagging their images. I have been removing fair use images lately, though not after an initial contact. I, however, have no database of images being used on non-article space. How difficult would it be to create such a database? Would you be willing to do it? —Iamunknown 06:09, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Another BJBot thingI think it is better if the BJBot gives a link to the diff which the IFD tag was added to the image page. I was thinking about something tonight. What would you think about doing a bot that would find and tag all images that contain "non-commercial", "no derivatives", or other such key words? I see a lot of cases where people upload images and pick GFDL or something, but then put in the description that they are licensing the image for non-commercial use only. It's important to engage these uploaders (1) for legal reasons and (2) in hopes that they will release the image under a free license. A second kind of image description that's usually a bad sign is when someone will upload an image from yahoo.com, cnn.com, msnbc.com, etc. News media photos are not permitted under WP:FAIR#counterexamples #5 and finding them and removing them as soon as possible is important. What would you think about a bot or some kind of automated process to find, for lack of a better term, "red flag image descriptions"? --BigDT 03:52, 20 March 2007 (UTC) You've been approved to use VandalSniper. Please let me know if you have any problems getting it working. --Chris (talk) 01:02, 25 March 2007 (UTC) Fair use images removal from non article spaceI remember you writing the code for a bot to do this, but were uneasy about there being consensus for such an action, especially dealing with the main page. Please see [1] where it seems clear that consensus is being achieved to no longer exempt fair use on the main page. This bot could then go hog-wild removing all use of fair use images from non article space. There is a current proposal to exempt/allow fair use on portals, but I think it is clearly failing, and with the "main portal" (main page) getting its exemption removed, allowing it for other portals seems even less likely. --MECU≈talk 12:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC) {{Allowedin}} botAlong similar lines, are you planning on writing this bot - if you could make it, it could be put to good use. ed g2s • talk 13:34, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I've seen it used both ways, Anonymous and anonymous, on /b/, etc. In the context of articles such as Chanology, I would argue that it not be capitalized because capitalizing it makes it sound less nebulous and more tangible than it really is, an attitude propagated by the media and others who don't get it. (And even I don't purport to get it, really.) BTW, this isn't meant as a personal attack on you. I'm just trying to throw some ideas out there and gain some knowledge. Thanks for the userspace article. Basilides/"ούκ ών θεός" (talk) 16:50, 5 February 2008 (UTC) Your noteHere. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category [[Category:Wikipedians who use Huggle]] to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. I hereby request that you stop running your BJBot until it understands {{Nobots}}, which I do have on my talk page. Your bot ignored it, which is not acceptable. See Template:Bots and Category:Exclusion compliant bots --Ligulem (talk) 17:39, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

The page they added scalefusion URL to was the 'List of MDM software' wikipedia page. Now, when I joined new in the org. and tried to add our name to wiki list again as an added MDM provider in the market and added LinkedIn page link there, It got removed again. Then I did my research and got to know from employees of Wikipedia on LinkedIn (Mohanananda and Shivam Patel) that wiki doesn't allow website links so they banned my organization's URL few years back. So, I request you to please lift the ban from the given URL and I will make sure that we don't put it up there unnecessarily. Please help me lift the URL ban and I assure to follow guidelines. My organization's URL is scalefusion.com. Not pasting the link here to avoid hyperlinking. I assure this will not happen again from our end. Please consider this as a request and I will be grateful to you. In this instance where the rationale is being cited, having the primary source rationale is more valuable than a secondary source characterization of it. Would love to hear your thoughts. Seeking feedback about an edit request to the Cloudinary articleHi @Brandon, I see you've made some edits to the Cloudinary article recently. I was hoping to get your feedback on a suggestion I've made to the intro paragraph. I think the opening sentence is weak since it only describes the company as a "SaaS technology company" and is front loaded with a list of cities with corporate offices. In my suggestion I've move the description of the technology up and bumped the cites to a second sentence since that information seems less important. I'm a connected contributor and i've tagged the COI request for review, but I was hoping to get your thoughts since you're a recent contributor to the article. Thanks for the help and any feedback is appreciated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Cloudinary Thanks! SBCornelius (talk) 21:00, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
Cybersecurity ratingHey there, this edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cybersecurity_rating&diff=1284801896&oldid=1266200801 deleted some link spam, but also deleted links to WP articles. Was that your intent? Every single source removed has sufficient edit summary explaining why it is removed. Please review those sources removed and challenge them with evidence of how they are relevant to the article. There is no guideline that says removal of irrelevant sources in article should be discussed first. The only guideline I am aware of is that every edit should have edit summary explaining why such edits are done. I kindly request that you carefully review the removed sources and explain why they are relevant to the article. Finally, I want to let you know that I am restoring the edits because to the best of my understanding of sourcing guidelines, irrelevant sources must be removed from articles immediately they are noticed. There are still more of such sources in the article and I will remove them as I review them. Warm regards. Piscili (talk) 08:04, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
Cohere- edits and updatesHi Brandon, nice to meet you. I am new to Wikipedia and have declared my affiliation with Cohere on my userpage. I saw your participation in several computer-related Wiki projects, including Project Computing, and would be grateful for your review of my suggested changes and updates to the Cohere article, like removing outdated HQs and restructuring some of the content. Per my understanding of Wikipedia's regulations, I am not meant to make these kinds of substantial changes to the article on my own; with your approval, I'd be happy to implement.
