I don't understand why at the very least you would revert 84th parallel north and 85th parallel north. These is absolutely nothing there except for the Arctic Ocean and maybe the edge of the polar ice cap. Per WP:RASTONISH and WP:R#DELETE (these are guidelines) the target page of redirects needs to have some mention of them in it. If a reader is browsing/researching x parallels and is redirected to a page that has no mention of them, then it is a pain to have to navigate back to the articles about the parallels. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 16:15, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Knowledgekid87: We have three options:

• Keep the 84th and 85th articles. I agree that they're not very exciting parallels, but the articles aren't totally devoid of information.
• Redirect them to Arctic Ocean. I doubt anyone would be surprised or confused by this, and if they're researching parallels and they end up here, it's not exactly a hardship to get back to where they were previously.
• Redirect them somewhere else. I didn't think that the section that had been added to the 83rd parallel article was helpful. Surely it's better to go to an article about what's actually at the parallel than to go to an article about somewhere else on the planet. And I can't think of anywhere else that a redirect could usefully point.

My preference is to keep at least the 84th parallel article. I'm not so bothered about the 85th, which I think should redirect to the Ocean. Bazonka (talk) 18:57, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
