Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Help needed with a deleted page.

Hi Anarchyte,

I am a new editor who started editing on Wikipedia quite recently. Unfortunately, one of the pages I was editing has been deleted recently. The page belonged to an acquaintance of mine who does not understand the technicalities of editing content here on Wikipedia. Hence I was helping him out in updating details onto the page which had a lot of missing information. And now the whole page has been deleted which I am still trying to understand as to why. I created a new Wiki page for a book of his by the name "Devara Colony" and added it to the Bibliography section of the individual. The reason was not very comprehensible to me on the deletion of both these pages. While reading the reason, I was guided to a list who can help me with getting the page back on and your name was on that list too. Can you please help me with the procedure to get the deleted page back on?

Here is the link to the page that was deleted. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandrashekar_Bandiyappa

Also please let me know what exactly went wrong with this page & what needs to be done to avoid this?

Looking forward to hearing from you as soon as I can.

```` AGga426 (talk) 14:33, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi AGga426. Chandrashekar Bandiyappa was deleted under WP:G11 ("unambiguous advertising or promotion"). However, I am going to restore the article and revert it to a time when it was not written in a promotional manner. I am also going to send it to Articles for Deletion so that its deletion can discussed by the community. Anarchyte (talk) 08:31, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
Text of a deleted page
Hello,
If am correct, you are listed among administrators willing to provide text of deleted pages. The page Ha Khel Sawalyancha has been deleted through AfD. The closer (@Liz) indicated in her closing statement "If an editor wants to create a Redirect from this page title, feel free to do so." I will but I would rather use the numerous sources that had been added to the page, to add them to the target page now, List of Marathi films of 1976, so could you provide me with the text of that deleted page, please? Apparently Liz has no time at the moment (User_talk:Liz#Ha_Khel_Sawalyancha deletion; User_talk:Liz#Ha_Khel_Sawalyancha), that's why I took the liberty to ask you this favour. Thank you. I still think a restoration of the history of the original page/TP would be a good idea but not sure you can do it when you provide the text (even if my intention is to make it a redirect). Thanks a lot in advance. (You can use User:Mushy Yank/Ha Khel Sawalyancha if you wish or any other address that is easy for you) (I redirected the page of the alternative spelling but the sources and content is what I would need, so as not to be forced to search, rewrite and format it all; I have no intention to recreate a standalone page). Best, -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 11:07, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
FWIW, I had actualy another target in mind, Vasant Joglekar. Not that it matters very much. Thanks again. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 14:37, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
@Mushy Yank: I have created User:Mushy Yank/Ha Khel Sawalyancha as requested. Please note that I only copied and pasted the content; I did not undelete and then move. As such, all attribution is missing and your sandbox should not be moved to mainspace. Anarchyte (talk) 10:06, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
Hello, Thanks a lot. I'll recreate the page as a Redirect then, although I still do think an undeletion was the right path (but that has nothing to do with you, just mentioning it for the record). Thanks again! -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 10:12, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
Request help to create BLP page
Hi Anarchyte, I am David, a volunteer from India who is trying to create pages for all sitting MLAs in India for the 29+ states. Our last state is Gujarat and I found that one MLA page Mukesh Patel is protected after a sanction some years ago. Since then he is elected as an MLA. Kindly see if I may be permitted to create a page for him. I have no Conflict Of Interest as I create pages for all party MLAs of all states... thanks and regards, Davidindia (talk) 16:15, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Davidindia. I have unprotected the page. I note that Mukeshbhai Patel already exists. Are these different people with similar names, or the same person? Anarchyte (talk) 09:03, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. The one you mentioned is another MLA from a different constituency, Olpad, also created by a banned user, but fortunately, the MLA got elected again in 2022. The One I am refering to is from #25 Mahesana constituency. So I may permitted to do it. Still there are a plenty of MLAs with no pages, so no hurry. I can finish the others first. I was going according to a particular order, and found this was locked... Thanks for responding. Much appreciated as the admin who did this is no more an Admin. Best regards! New user, request to add deleted article to my user draft
Hi @Anarchyte! I recently joined and drafted an article, and received a message saying it would be deleted per a potential conflict of interest and I should instead draft it on my user drafts and have an editor review it. It also said I could ask you (someone on a long list) to move the deleted version of the article to my user drafts. The article is Sword Health, submit@ted yesterday. Is that something you could please help me with?
Thanks! Lmacphail (talk) 09:48, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
Hi Lmacphail. You can find your version of the article here. If you click "edit", you can access the text of this older version. Please note that you should abide by WP:PROMO with all edits you make. Anarchyte (talk) 02:03, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi @Anarchyte! I've rewritten the text of the article and saved it in my drafts here: User:Lmacphail/sandbox/SwordHealthDraft. Can you review and provide any recommended edits prior to my submission?
Thanks! Lmacphail (talk) 11:29, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
It is still incredibly promotional. I would suggest rewriting it and taking out all promotional phrases (like "offering its digital therapy programs as a cost-effective alternative to in-person physical therapy"). Anarchyte (talk) 01:47, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback, and apologies as this is my first time editing! I've just gone through the whole article again and tried to make everything neutrally worded. Can you take a look again please? Lmacphail (talk) 11:23, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Apologies for the delay. The history section looks good but the other sections give me pause. I would not recommend adding those as they are effectively the company's résumé. Anarchyte (talk) 11:49, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
I was basing some of these sections on things I saw on other telehealth listings, to make sure that they would be compliant to add. I saw very similar sections for funding, impact, and studies on listings like Teledoc, Amwell, and Mindbloom so I thought that would be okay. If there's a different way to frame these to be more in line with what is accepted, I can try and edit further - but would appreciate specifics that make my sections different than those that are in-use in these other pages. Lmacphail (talk) 12:12, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. The article on Amwell (company) is a mess; I would not recommend using that as a baseline for quality. It's been tagged as promotional since 2022. The other two articles are better, but I've just gone in and removed one promotional sentence from Teladoc Health (and there are more that I have left untouched). The issue with the draft is that it doesn't explain the information in an encyclopaedic and neutrally-toned manner. The list of journal articles is disjointed and should be merged into the history section but only when absolutely relevant, otherwise it becomes a violation of WP:WPNOT (specifically WP:NOTADVERT, WP:NOTLIST, and WP:NOTPRICE (regarding the investment history). If it's relevant, it should be in #History, not its own section. Much the same for the awards. Anarchyte (talk) 23:28, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
That's very helpful. I removed the awards, clinical trials, and health outcomes, and only added a few to the history section, where I thought they provide more context to the history. I also reviewed the history section again and tried to make the language more neutral. I apologize for all of the drafting, but I appreciate your continued help. Let me know if you think I could try submitting this version? Lmacphail (talk) 14:42, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi, apologies for the delay. Yes, I think your draft is fine for mainspace wording-wise. I have not checked the references, but if they match up, then it's a definite improvement over the current state of Sword Health. Let me know when you move it across and I will merge the histories to fix the attribution history. Anarchyte (talk) 07:42, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Thank you! Is the best way to move it across to just copy and paste into the live version and publish, or is there a way to move/replace everything with the references? Lmacphail (talk) 09:07, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
I have moved it on your behalf. Cheers, Anarchyte (talk) 05:30, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
