I'm not keen on this. The icons are tiny, just coloured blobs. You need to zoom in several levels to make out the lettering. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:24, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. I have modified the code a little bit so the icons don't look as small as before. They already look larger in the Test cases section. Esguil10 (talk) 18:14, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
OK. In parts, it's implied to be public domain, which is free content. In others, it's implied to be non-free. If there is any doubt as to its freeness, it cannot be placed on multiple pages by means of a template. --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 16:20, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
@Unnamelessness: One, I'm not online 24/7, mainly because I do have a paid job IRL (witness the huge gaps in my contribs). Two, if you have a look at what happened 2-3 days ago, you'll know that when somebody asks for help and I give it, that somebody punches me in the face. And then gets their friends to kick me too. Three, see Jonesey95's post below. --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 22:51, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
Everyone has a job and lives a life. No one forces you to reply within 24 hours, but there was a three-day gap, and you did contribute in other pages. I am attempt to follow WP:BRD here, but to perform a discussion, first relevant editors should be active, rather than leave a comment of "I am busy, don't bother me". It makes zero progress on discussion. Unnamelessness (talk) 01:40, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
And my question is a very simple one: Why there are other examples with the same licensing could be add to this template, but this one couldn't? Either a) remove those with the same licensing from this template, or b) add this one into it. Otherwise, it is double standard and inconsistent. Unnamelessness (talk) 01:40, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
I don't think this will result in an improvement. It's not clear what those symbols means and their use in route diagrams may well be confusing. Have TfL produced official symbols for the branded services on London Overground? [1] suggests not yet. We can wait.Bazza 7 (talk) 12:16, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
I agree with making the link better. It would help in some route diagrams where the link has had to be manually inserted. Bazza 7 (talk) 13:57, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
@Paine Ellsworth: Thanks for the work you do here. While we agreed that changing the link is an improvement, I don't see agreement about the images. I stated that the transport authority had not yet produced branding symbols for the services concerned, and that remains the case. Can you please partially undo this change to remove the changes to the images until there's consensus on what they should look like? I could make the change myself but as an involved person feel that wouldn't be right. Bazza 7 (talk) 09:06, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
To editor Bazza 7: I don't mind doing the extra work, but I don't really understand. If we look here at the symbols, then we find that they are the exact same except for a small, colored bar beneath each symbol. If neither symbol has meaning then maybe neither symbol should be used? or maybe it's okay to use the symbol with the bar? Please explain why the symbol with the colored bar should not be used, while the same symbol without the bar is okay to use? P.I. Ellsworth , ed.put'er there12:23, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
@Paine Ellsworth: I'm sorry if I have not been clear enough to avoid confusion.
The symbol without the bar () and the colour has been used to indicate six separate services operated by London Overground. Branding for all six has been the same, with the symbol and colour used for all, and this has been reflected in articles and diagrams on Wikipedia.
The operator of the services, TfL, announced last year that each service would have a name and a specific colour assigned to it, but the symbol currently remains the same for all six (). These are as shown at Module:Adjacent stations/London Overground. The symbol with a bar has not been published, and is not used, anywhere and seems to have been constructed by Sameboat who made the original requests.
Should, in the future, TfL publish a separate symbol for each service (as is done for London Underground — for the system and , , , etc for each service in it) then a set of six individual symbols may be constructed and configured in a new request.
Okay, I've reverted back to the standard image, and I've synchronized the sandbox to the live template. Please place the code needed, if any, in the sandbox to make the changes wanted. P.I. Ellsworth , ed.put'er there03:34, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
@Paine Ellsworth: I have updated the sandbox; checked the test page to confirm that the icons, whilst identical, link to different articles and show the appropriate alt text; and reopened the request for you to implement at your convenience. Thanks for your continued help and patience. Regards, Bazza 7 (talk) 17:01, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
2. And replacing it with a new entry for Local Rail called stockholm with the SL Rail Symbol
4. And then adding the various following local lines, each linked to an article and using their colours:
- stockholm with colour #e3861e - linking to Tvärbanan
- stockholm with colour #e3861e - linking to Tvärbanan
- stockholm with colour #a9579f - linking to Roslagsbanan
- stockholm with colour #a9579f - linking to Roslagsbanan
- stockholm with colour #a9579f - linking to Roslagsbanan
- stockholm with colour #009ca5 - linking to Saltsjöbanan
- stockholm with colour #009ca5 - linking to Saltsjöbanan
- stockholm with colour #b8601a - linking to Lidingöbanan
- stockholm with colour #788ea9 - linking to Nockebybanan
- stockholm with colour #8f9188 - linking to Spårväg City
These changes will update the colours and add the missing local lines included in the template. A user User:Dr. British12 recently did a lot of Routemaps for Swedish lines which these would be useful for!
Hi, this is less of a specific request and more of a general question. Is there a way to force the bus icon to look like this (BUS) instead of this (BUS2) for use in rail-interchanges in countries that drive on the left? Perhaps ((rail-interchange|bus|left))? Because I could only find ((rail-interchange|gb|bus)) which would be of little use in other countries outside the UK. I look forward to seeing a response. Thanks! Change the T3 line of text to: | t3 | liverpool =
Beneath the Metro line of text, add: | m1 | north west | bankstown =
Hi, please add the line regarding the Gold Line from my sandbox edits. I have also made a test case. Also, I would appreciate any help changing the color of the text in the box to #0066CC, as my edit appears to have had no effect. Thanks. NotDragonius (talk) 23:47, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
I tried changing it to black but it doesn't seem to work - any idea what I'm doing wrong? NotDragonius (talk) 20:55, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
@NotDragonius Those definitions are not the most efficient or easy to parse; I don't know why they've been done in that fashion. You'll find | gold = <span style="background-color:#FFD200; border:1px solid #FFD200; color:white; font-weight:bold; font-size:80%; white-space:nowrap;"> Gold Line </span> should do what you want. Bazza 7 (talk) 13:08, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
@Minoa Thank you, however it seems to be too large compared to the others. I believe the rcb and rint sizes are different. NotDragonius (talk) 20:58, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi! I would like my most recent edits to the sandbox and testcases pages removing redundant parameters and updating the links for two icons for the Ottawa applied. Thank you! OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 17:32, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi! I've just made a couple new edits to the sandbox and testcases pages where I added two new icons for Ottawa. Please also make sure to add these as well. Thank you! OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 07:07, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi! Per my most recent edits on the sandbox and testcases subpages, please implement these changes in order to add new parameters for the new two-line system for Valley Metro Rail in Phoenix, Arizona, that began operating this past weekend. Thank you! OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 01:55, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
The Suzhou Rail Transit has been renamed Suzhou Metro, and as such Suzhou Rail Transit has been moved to Suzhou Metro, and lines have moved from their 'Suzhou Rail Transit' form to their 'Suzhou Metro' form. Template now links to a redirct for both the system itself and the individual lines. Can this be updated to change Suzhou Rail Transit, Line 1 (Suzhou Rail Transit), etc... to Suzhou Metro, Line 1 (Suzhou Metro), etc...?
I think I have succesfully added a test case for the lines here [4], though as this is my first time editing a template like this, there might be some mistakes. Apologies if so. Curt内蒙04:15, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. I think it actually keeps getting caught up in various edits on the sandbox, as this is now the 3rd time I've had to re-add it! But fingers crossed that's it now! Curt内蒙01:55, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
Just wondering if there has been any movement on this? Or whether there is someone I should contact? Curt内蒙02:32, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
As someone who's just been granted template editor perms, I was not familiar with what you were referring to beforehand. The sandbox and testcase edits are standard procedure here because the editors here don't always intuitively understand what the requester has in mind, and to also ensure that any proposed edits function properly and don't mess with the template. I understand you may be irritated, but please be civil; I'm more than willing to work with you to implement your edit request. That being said, would you mind editing the sandbox as well? OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 08:48, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
I'm not sure how. I can't actually see the changes when I try. What I'm after is what I put in the testcases page, with direct links to the articles, because there's no logos to use. Sumanuil. (talk to me)08:57, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Done To be clear, I completely understand OrdinaryScarlett's caution here; that's exactly what I told him to do when granting template editor access. But in this case I just went ahead and edited the sandbox, confirmed the logos weren't used anywhere and no longer appear, and removed them myself. * Pppery *it has begun...16:45, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
Simplification of the Thessaloniki entry
Phase 1 edit request and discussion
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request.
CC: The Emperor of Byzantium, I am planning to simplify the entry for Thessaloniki to use ric like in Athens because the current syntax is fragmented. However, this means I need to juggle the switches around and phase out some extraneous switches (like ∏1) to make the simplification work. Also, I wish to make switch p (for Περιφερειακές) work the same as Athens).
My health isn't that great as before, so I probably need some help to check the code and do the syntax replacements as the transition progresses, since nothing can go wrong. FYI, the search term insource:"rint\|thessaloniki\|[switch]" could be used to keep track of the replacements. --Minoa (talk) 06:30, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi @Minoa, Thank you for letting me know and thank you for all you have done up to now... I can truly sympathise with your situation as both my mental and physical health has declined in recent years so please don't over tax yourself, I will help any way I can, moving the Greek rail network forward... just let me know. You do what you can, when you can! I will get done, "one edit at a time" =) take care ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠(talk)23:08, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Pinging @Paine Ellsworth, because it has been ten days since I made the edit request, and the template has a backlog of requests. Hello, I am ready to request the roll out of phase 2 of the Thessaloniki update, according to the transition plan: phase 2 (of 3) removes the old switches and introduces the Regional Railway options.
Pinging @Useddenim, because it has been nearly a month since I made the edit request for this phase, and the template also has a backlog of requests. If you are busy, please inform another editor who can edit the live template. Thank you. --Minoa (talk) 01:22, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

We've seen grants to people who didn't meet the formal criteria for narrow use cases before, like [5]. And I wouldn't have made that comment above if I didn't think you were qualified. So, if you want template editor rights, then request them. * Pppery *it has begun...16:47, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I am now able to request the compacting of the Thessaloniki code and the removal of the old Regional Rail switches, after transitioning the Regional Rail switches to the new format. This request completes the Thessaloniki icon modernisation project.
Due to the major change to the syntax to make it all compact and take up as little space as possible, the full revised syntax for the city is here.
Thank you in advance for your help throughout this project: this was needed to make the whole Thessaloniki icon set simpler to use, yet it had to be done in three phases to minimise disruption while reshuffling the switches. --Minoa (talk) 06:36, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
@NotDragonius:Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES. Please see the notice displayed to you when you created this thread. As I have pointed out before, code blobs in the talk page - whether they use textDiff or not - are not the way to make template change requests. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:26, 11 June 2025 (UTC)

Done. Just as an FYI though for next time, you don't need to send the code blob you sent above your message here, and the testcase section should only be marked as "implemented" once the changes are implemented into the main template. OrdinaryScarlett (talk) 19:43, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
Please consider adding ie (Republic of Ireland) and ni (Northern Ireland) to display the same output as gb ( ) — that is to say, an icon of a bus with the front to the left of the screen to represent a vehicle that drives on the left of the road and is right-hand drive. I suggest the default wikilink for the Northern Ireland (ni) template parameter to remain Bus transport in the United Kingdom (NI is part of UK), but as the Republic of Ireland doesn't have the equivalent specific article, a link to bus be made instead unless the person doing the edit to the template can find something more specific.
Why? Of course as an editor I could use gb but due to the complex political history between Great Britain and the island of Ireland it may not be the best move to start adding "GB" to articles about Irish subjects.
I think given the lack of a dedicated article about Bus transport in Ireland, that link would be appropriate. There should be a note for editors (visible only when editing) in the form of a HTML comment or similar, to inform them of potential incoming links from the template and therefore care should be taking before changing the section title. -=# Amos E Wolfetalk #=- 01:11, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Greater Montreal: Template-protected edit request on 13 April 2025
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request.
This request is to add two new locations, Laval and Longueuil, and to modify existing location Montreal.
The purposes are to:
Enable simplified bus route boxes for these locations, similar to what has previously done for bus and streetcar routes in Toronto (see documentation).
Replace obsolete bus route icons with the default bus icon in the case of Montreal, and to add new icons.
Rectify confusion between 'exo' as the transit operator and its 'rail' and 'bus' operations.

Hello. Previously, I have already asked to remove the Transjakarta's service 5D symbol, since it has been discontinued. However, since then, the icon has been re-added, so it ends up reappearing on some pages. Please remove it so that it no longer appears to prevent misleading information.

You should just remove the tjk5d parameter values wherever they're used instead. Removing it here creates a lot of red links in old page versions, because then they'd be trying to call a parameter value that no longer exists. That being said, I've gone ahead and done it for you, so this should solve your issue. Feel free to check my edits across the articles in question to see how.
