@Jonesey95 thanks for the replies - just letting you know that the move request has again been closed as moved, and after a week-long delay in case anyone opposed has been carried out. The other pages will still need to get moved, but just flagging that it's back underway now. Turnagra (talk) 22:37, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Diff:
It displays as Palestine already, but it causes a broken link for some topics, e.g. above. I don't know how to fix it sorry, but somebody more experienced probably knows how. I looked at the code and that also just says Palestine, but here is a token attempt at showing the change:
Both the Palestine page and the relevant categories were recently mass moved. Agree that the template should be updated to default to "X of Palestine". CMD (talk) 12:58, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We can't do this yet. This is the same situation as Timor-Leste above. Please link to a discussion showing that any needed article page moves or redirects have been discussed and completed or created. I'm seeing articles like List of lighthouses in the State of Palestine that do not have corresponding redirects, e.g. List of lighthouses in Palestine. If we make this change to {{Iso2country/data}}, the link to that article will turn red in this template. I found the following red links, some of which will be affected.
For most cases that would lead to a number of pointless red links. If expansion would help one particular topic, it is better to create a custom template. CMD (talk) 01:44, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

In the Prehistory of Asia template, right now there is an entry for "Saudi Arabia" which just takes someone to History of Saudi Arabia. There is no entry for Arabia or the Arabian Peninsula wholly, which is much more than the geography of just Saudi Arabia. And this page is not even specifically about Saudi's prehistory, which is almost not covered at all.
I would like the entry to Saudi Arabia to be removed, and replaced with an entry called "Arabia" which links to Prehistory of Arabia. Right now Prehistory of Arabia is a redirect to Pre-Islamic Arabia, which is already an improvement for a Prehistory of Asia template, but also, I am currently working on turning this redirect into its own full page that will properly cover the prehistory of Arabia. Not done: This is a generic template that links to articles written about each country. If it does not fit prehistory (seems like it wouldn't) a dedicated template should be created. CMD (talk) 04:53, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove the category and portal links as these seem to default to the general "Asia" links rather than the topic specific ones. Note that the navboxes for other continents do not have these links. Also, per WP:OVERLINK, the group headers should not be linked. --woodensuperman12:08, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's already well established that we do not link to general portals from navboxes. No issue if these were set to match the topic exactly, but we can't go round spamming portals and categories for "Asia" on every article the navboxes are transcluded on. As for the WP:OVERLINK issue, this is a clear breach of WP:BIDIRECTIONAL. We should also consider MOS:SPECIFICLINK and WP:EGG (i.e. a user may be looking for an article on Foo in sovereign states of Asia for example). --woodensuperman14:36, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not persuaded. I'd rather see links added to the headers at North America and the others, since the headers use technical terms that readers may not know. If another template editor wants to work on this, I have no objections. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:27, 9 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
