Insight Venture Management, LLC (commonly referred to as Insight Partners and previously Insight Venture Partners) is a global venture capital and private equity firm that invests in high-growth technology, software, and internet businesses.[4][5] The company is headquartered in New York City, also has offices in London, Tel Aviv, and Palo Alto.[6][7][8]
History
Insight Partners was founded in 1995 by Jeff Horing and Jerry Murdock.[9][10][11] As of April 2025, the firm has approximately $90 billion in assets under management.[12] Insight Partners has invested in more than 750 companies worldwide and has seen over 55 portfolio companies achieve an IPO.[3] The firm has an in-house team called Onsite that assists portfolio companies in their growth.[13]
In April 2021, Insight Partners raised $1.56 billion for the Insight Partners Opportunities Fund I LP, a separate fund from its primary growth-investment vehicles.[14] Also in 2021, Insight Partners put $15 million of its capital into a new fund, the Vision Capital 2020 LP Fund, which supports minority-led firms raising early-stage funds.[15] In February 2022, the company announced it had raised $20 billion for its twelfth flagship fund, more than doubling the size of its previous flagship fund.[16][17] In July 2022, Insight Partners established the Enterprise Technology Exchange (ETX), an advisory group responsible for helping emerging IT companies navigate uncertain markets.[18]
In January 2025, Insight Partners announced the raise of another $12.5 billion for its venture capital funds.[19][better source needed]
Sourcing Model
Insight Partners is recognized for its distinctive, outbound-driven sourcing model, which has been a significant contributor to the firm's growth. Rather than relying solely on partner networks or inbound deal flow, Insight developed a dedicated sourcing team, responsible for systematically identifying high-potential software companies at various stages of growth.[20]
This sourcing function, staffed primarily by analysts and associates hired directly out of university, is credited with originating approximately 60% of Insight's venture investments.[20]
The firm's systematic approach to sourcing has been cited as a key driver behind Insight’s expansion to over $90 billion in assets under management as of April 2025,[20] and has contributed to building one of the largest and most influential alumni networks in venture capital.[20]
