HCLSoftware is a division of HCL Technologies Limited (HCLTech), that develops and markets enterprise software products. It was formed in July 2019 following HCLTech’s acquisition of a group of products from IBM. HCLSoftware offers software products in business applications, cybersecurity, data analytics, AI operations, and customer experience platforms.[2][3][4]

As of 2025, the company serves over 10,000 organizations, including Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies.[5]

History

HCL Technologies, the parent company of HCLSoftware, was founded in 1976 by Shiv Nadar.[6] In July 2019, HCLTech finalized its acquisition of select software products from IBM for a sum of USD 1.8 billion.[7][8] The acquired portfolio included enterprise products, such as, AppScan, BigFix, Commerce, Connections, Digital Experience (formerly Portal and Content Manager), Domino[9] and Notes and Unica.[10]

Following the acquisition, HCLTech created a separate business unit, HCLSoftware, to oversee the portfolio. This division became the ‘Products and Platforms’ (P&P) segment of HCLTech.[11][12]

In the financial year 2024-25, HCLSoftware reported revenue of INR 12,049 crore[13] (approx. USD 1.41 Bn).
