Dariel Lopez
Dariel Lopez (born February 7, 2002) is a Dominican professional baseball third baseman who is a free agent. CareerPittsburgh PiratesLopez signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 2, 2018 for a $400,000 signing bonus.[1] He made his professional debut in 2019 with the Dominican Summer League Pirates, playing in 47 games and hitting .341/.404/.485 with two home runs, 33 RBI, and five stolen bases. Lopez did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[2] Lopez made 98 appearances for the Single-A Bradenton Marauders during the 2021 season, slashing .258/.341/.393 with 10 home runs and 64 RBI.[3] He played in 102 games for the High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2022, hitting .286/.329/.476 with career-highs in home runs (19), RBI (58), and stolen bases (6).[4] On March 17, 2023, the Pirates announced that Lopez would miss the entirety of the 2023 season after dislocating his knee in an offseason workout session.[5] San Francisco GiantsOn December 6, 2023, Lopez was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft.[6] He did not appear in a game for the organization in 2024 as he continued to recover from a knee injury that caused him to miss the 2023 season. Lopez was released by the Giants organization on January 3, 2025.[7] References
