Manuel Rionda Polledo (3 d'agostu de 1854, Noreña – 2 de setiembre de 1943, Alpine) foi un empresariu asturianu que fizo fortuna en Cuba col azucre.

Biografía

Manuel Rionda nació en 1854 en Noreña.^[3]^[4] La so familia entamó a invertir n'azucre cubano nos años 1860.^[5] En 1870, cuando Rionda tenía 16 años, emigró a Cuba.^[4]

Career

Rionda cofundó the Czarnikow-Rionda Company con Julius Caesar Czarnikow en 1909.^[6] En 1915, fundó xunto cola so familia la Cuba Cane Sugar Company.^[4]

Rionda foi propietariu de plantaciones d'azucre en Cuba.^[3] Enantes de los años 1930, la compañía Czarnikow-Rionda "vendía'l 40 por cientu del azucre de Cuba".^[4]

Vida personal

Rionda casó con Harriet Clarke,^[3] y vivieron na finca Rio Vista, una propiedá de 300 acres n'Alpine (Nueva Jersey).^[3]^[7] Nun tuvieron guaḥes, pero criaron al so sobrín güerfanu, Manuel Enrique Rionda, que más tarde vivió na finca Glen Goin n'Alpine cola so muyer, Ellen Goin.^[3]

Muerte

Rionda morrió en 1943.^[8] Una torre diseñada pol arquitectu Charles Rollinson Lamb na so antigua finca sigue en pie n'Alpine, Nueva Jersey.^[9]^[10] ^{[nota 1]}
