Edward Ullendorff (25 de xineru de 1920, Berlín – 6 de marzu de 2011, Oxford) foi un llingüista, semitólogo ya historiador británicu especializáu nel estudiu d'Etiopía y Eritrea.

Nació na ciudá suiza de Zúrich el 25 de xineru de 1920, nel senu d'una familia alemana.^[6] Emigró en 1938 d'Alemaña a raigañu del réxime nazi y pasó por Israel, Eritrea y Etiopía.^[7] Ullendorf, especialmente dotáu pa los idiomes y espertu en llingües semítiques, foi profesor en diverses universidaes britániques: Oxford, Saint Andrews, Manchester y, finalmente, na Escuela d'Estudios Orientales y Africanos de la Universidá de Londres.^[6]

Fundador y editor na década de 1940 de la revista Eritrean Weekly News,^[8][6] foi miembru tanto de la British Academy como de la Royal Asiatic Society.^[6] Participó en Journal of Semitic Studies y Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies.^[6]

Foi autor de títulos como The Semitic Languages of Ethiopia—A Comparative Phonology (1955),^[9][10] The Ethiopians: an introduction to country and people (1960),^[11][12] Ethiopia and the Bible (1968)^[13] o The Two Zions: Reminiscences of Jerusalem and Ethiopia (1988),^[14] amás d'editor xunto a C. F. Beckingham The Hebrew Letters of Prester John (Oxford University Press, 1982), del Preste Xuan,^[15] y, xunto a Michael A.
